So in the book I'm reading, Fangirl by Rainbow Rowel, there's this quote and it describes my fangirl needs. BTW: The characters that Cath is talking about are from the Simon Snow series.

"I'm just borrowing Baz."

"You're not borrowing Baz." Said Wren. "You kidnapped him and raised him as your own."

This can fit into any character in basic fanfiction. You're not just borrowing the character, you're making it do things, say things, and putting the character through a new adventure. You're controlling the actions of the character. And it like raising the character is your job.
