So, what came to my attention once more recently is that there are a shocking amount of "kidnapped by ..." or "bullied by ..." stories here on wattpad. Now, I know they've been around for a long time. When I first got wattpad, there were countless "kidnapped by One Direction" stories everywhere. My question however is why? Isn't fan fiction a mean to express, well, a fan's wishes or dreams about a certain thing, or a story that was inspired by a certain thing? A story that was written because you wished something had happened differently or because you just wanted to share your view of something with other fans?
Why on earth do so many people wish to be kidnapped or bullied? Honestly, stop romanticising things like that! Just saying, if I got kidnapped by a band that I like, I would probably not be happy about being taken somewhere against my will and be held there against my will, and I would stop liking that band because they took me against my will. And how many people fall in love with their bullies? Oh, that's right, no one. All these stories about girls that fall in love with men that hurt them emotionally or physically... No. Stop. Please. It's really not a beautiful thing! What kind of message does that send??
