Okay, so as of August 21st, 2018, we are in the middle of a baby season/baby boom at my house. We have chicks due to hatch in about 2 weeks, my cat is pregnant and due in about 2 weeks as well, and my mother is due in about 9 weeks with my baby brother.

This is the pregnant kitty (my precious four-legged baby), Joan. She's actually staring at me as I type this. 😂

And the broody Mama Chicken. If you don't know what a "broody" is, let me explain. So, a "broody" is a female chicken who wants to sit on eggs and hatch them. She will sit on other hens eggs, and find herself a place to nest, so her and her "babies" can be safe.
We had several broody chickens, and when they're broody they don't lay, so we're not getting a lot of eggs.

Usually we have a few broodies to pick from, and we choose the one we think would be the best egg-sitter to be put into the "chick coop." 

Our chick coop is a chicken coop specifically for broodies to lay on and hatch eggs. 

Anyways, so we had several broodies, some of them were pretty nasty. One of the things I don't like about broodies is that the mean ones Peck at you, to protect their eggs. And those beaks are painful.

So some of our broodies pecked and some were just generally anxious, but there was one broody who was really calm, never fussed, and above all, never pecked me.

So, she's the one who is sitting on the eggs now in that picture.

One of those chicks is the broody!

It's so cool to see the "circle of life", with the chick we hatched last year as a full grown hen, and sitting on eggs, about to hatch her own chicks.

Oh yeah, the hens name? Poofilepuff.

Poof-ul-ee-puff. My sister named her for the little poof she has on her head.
