WOF Headcanons
-SkyWings can have a scale condition called goldscales, where the edges of some or all of their scales are rimmed with a golden color. It's somewhat rare, but isn't associated with any negative effects.
-SeaWing gills are/can be outlined with a streak of a lighter shade.
-SkyWing architecture is the most advanced of all the tribes, but NightWings have the most (+ most accurate) history and knowledge.
-Frostbite was kicked out of her tribe before they found out she was an animus, which is how she got so much experience with actual trees.
-The Scorching was an apocalyptic event that killed off most scavengers and mutated into creation animus magic in a select few dragons.
-The seven tribes were named after their founders/first queens. The MudWings were named after Queen Mud, etc.
-Some dragons, NightWings, SilkWings, and RainWings particularly, have a kind of scarab-like iridescence on their scales.
-RainWings have malleable horns and can, with enough effort, change their shapes.
-IceWings are somewhat related to insects (indicated by their blue blood), but refuse to acknowledge it.
-Dragons cannot be named after any tribe. NightWings names cannot contain the word "night" as either part of their names, SandWings cannot be named Sand (although Sandstorm and such are okay), etc.
-MudWings and SkyWings are the biggest dragons, but MudWings have more mass.
-If prisoners of war began to ran out, Queen Scarlet would capture or coerce other SkyWings to fight in the arena. Queen Ruby, obviously, dismantled that policy.
-NightWings used to be almost as big as MudWings and SkyWings, but have grown smaller as a result of being trapped with the volcano and having fewer food sources.
-RainWings, SandWings, and SeaWings have the most dragons in their tribes, while NightWings and IceWings have the least.
-The moon globe tree was given all the traits of an actual tree, so a clipping of it would be able to grow, given the right circumstances.
-Dragons of each tribe will often swear by their respective tribe's founder, similar to how Earth Humans swear by a god.
-Jade Mountain is one of the very few territories that is not claimed by any one tribe. It used to be contested between the RainWings and MudWings, but was eventually brought to a standstill and given up.
-Clearsight's enchanted earrings still exist, hidden in the old Night Kingdom, but have not been found by any dragon since Darkstalker's fall.
-NightWings suffer from melanism more than any other tribe. They were also on the verge of completely evolving away their starscales when they moved to the Rainforest Kingdom.
-RainWings can actually have animus dragons, but no animus has been discovered, and the term doesn't exist in the tribe. Any accidental animus magic is just dismissed as chance or luck.
-RainWings, NightWings, and SkyWings are the most superstitious tribes, while MudWings and IceWings are the least. SeaWings and SandWings are somewhere in the middle.
-IceWing hybrids are more vulnerable to genetic mutations than other hybrid dragons, all of whom are more at risk than one-tribe dragons.
-Some SkyWings still carry animus magic as a very recessive gene, but its arising in a dragon is so unlikely, it's been considered exterminated.
-The SandWing queenship arena was enchanted by the same animus who created the Eye of Onyx.
and that's all for the moment. yay!
—Ruby (not the SkyWing Queen)
