In Lava [Pokemon]

+...The cover does NOT belong to me...+

LittleTyrunt wanted mentioned that this story is "based on the ORAS games with a few additions to the plot as well as obvious Magmajewelshipping that the cover portrays."

Currently, this book is NOT completed.

*Spoilers Ahead*

Summary: Brendan Birch, son of the esteemed Professor Birch, finally goes out on a Pokemon journey with his loyal partner Treecko. (Which was specially bred)... Training to become the very best and go around the Hoenn region, he never really expects to run into a very mysterious woman named Courtney.
Meanwhile, Courtney is an admin of Team Magma. Being known as almost a complete cyborg, all she seems to do with her life is train and study. She has no interest in people--whatsoever. Well, that's until she hears about an "intriguing specimen" that's a seemingly good Pokemon Trainer. His name is Brendan Birch...

Alright. Onto the review portion.

Starting off with the style. This story was AMAZINGLY detailed. I absolutely LOVED it! I don't even think that I encountered any problems with writing. Grammar and spelling were spot. To be honest, throughout the entire story, it was hard to put this book down.
Because I have absolutely no life, I had to... Trust me, it was a struggle to put this down. I actually was up all night at one point while reading this book.

I am going to say this flat out: No other book has ever had me as hooked as this before.

Moving onto the characters.

The characters are all-but spot on; canon wise. You added in a lot of aspects from the games, which was what you had said before in the lead. I also had noticed that you used a few sources from the manga and possibly Anime...? I'm not sure if those were intentional, but I really liked it.

I had noticed that you added in a few of your own characters. Implying that most of the characters were actually canon, you did really well adding in your own characters. At first, when I was reading this story at 3 in the morning, I didn't think that some of those characters are actually made up. I would have never believed that... Well, until I reread through a few chapters. That's very clever of you to have snuck those characters in. Good job!

Throughout this story, you made the Teams (Aqua and Magma) COMPLETELY stand out as two individual teams. (Yes, they are completely different. I understand that, but I wanted to point that out in a way that wouldn't make things phrased incorrectly.) To clarify any confusion, the Teams through not just the games but the manga as one team with two different ideas. I don't know why, but it just seems that way to me.
The way you had written this story made Teams Aqua and Magma stand out as the threats they really are intended to be. Antagonistic teams that will stop at nothing to get their goals accomplished.

If this was intentional, I'm not sure, but did you intentionally add more adult hinted themes? I'm fine with it; I had absolutely no problems reading it. It just took me by surprise is all. The way you had it written was good and the sad thing is it left me laughing.

One character I would like to make quick mention of... Miles. When he was referred to as a stalker, I was trying so hard not to die of lack of oxygen. I believe I can summarize Miles in one word: badass. [Excuse my French... Sorry if anyone speaks French]

He, as a character, set a new tone for me. As, I believe a Grunt, of Team Magma, he has extremely high standards for the Team and it adds a new level towards the Team in total. Usually Team Magma kept in the shadows, but having Miles as a spy for not just Brendan but Team Aqua was well played. I really love how you put this character in like that.

The relationship between Brendan and Courtney in this story was absolutely incredible. I loved the gradual developments these characters have had while meeting the other. Of course, things were awkward at first, but things seemed to blossom between the two very quickly. Magmajewelshipping, overall, is one of my top 10 favorite Pokemon shippings. Especially after reading the Pokemon Adventures manga.
After reading this book, I love this pairing even more.

Overall, I have nothing to complain about with this story. It was well written and it shows the work you had put into this. Good job with this! :D

(P.S: I plan on reading the rest of the story...)
