the cryptic woman glided down
the stairs, with an air of mystery about
her . she wore a black hooded gown
that clung to her body,, she was like
a whisper of a shadow,, excluding the
mesmerising crystal that hung around
her neck,, it illuminated the path
with an ethereal glow of golden
and orange light, dimly lighting the
old stone steps that spiralled in
the darkness, not a torch lit .
the sound of small feet touching
to the ancient stone that spiralled
deep into the earth rang about
the seemingly empty tower . the
path had been unevenly beaten
down even though people had
not tread down the stairs
in years due to its purpose .
the woman sighed as her crystal
that rested on her chest lit up
like one of the thousands stars
that shone for them tonight,,
purposefully or not . she didn't
know what was right,, a waging
war set in her mind and it's
weight of reality sinking her
and drowning her in the coldness
of shallow water,, he had
promised that the world would
regret the day they hurt them .
though,, as the days went on
the world had taught the young
witch that people of the world,,
weren't like them . however
she still had gone this far - it
would make her seem frail for
her to back out now .
the girls complexion matching the
moon as both were white as the
first snow fall of the winter
and cheeks as pink as a new
rose of the midsummer,, it
seemed that even her peculiar
beauty was conflicted on the
matter,, even if her face had
no clue at what had been
going on in her pretty little
mind . it was the small things
that the young mage had learnt
to find in these harsh times .
'ah, the time draws near,'
the girl spoke aloud,, mainly
to her own thoughts as the bell
signalling midnight shook the
tower to its core,, a cold and
dark tremble ran through her
body,, as if only now did
the reality set inside her
body .
as the ringing of the bells hushed,,
the girl reached the end of the stairs
a hum resonated in the pitch black
room, before huge crystals of every
different colour lit up the room from
a night blue to a lighter blossom colour
each crystal each their own power,,
each one special . the girls crystal
in full size was floating in the
top left corner of the underground
chamber that was only lit with the
magic energy of all the different
mages of zorenth's energy .
in the back of the room facing
the wall was another cloaked
figure,, they had broader
shoulders and a firmer build .
a male this time . he let out a
cold laugh that echoed and
became distorted as the noise
hit off the glowing crystals that
cast lights of different hues all
spectacular shades .
'beta~, i've been waiting,'
his voice rung in her ears
though,, she acted more like
the smooth voice was that of
a banshee's wail . 'why so . . .
distressed to see me?' the young
man asked spinning around,,
his jet black cape made out
of fine silk and thread flowing
and bouncing at his ankles as
he spun .
'i know nothing of which you
speak,' the young lady spoke,
although soft her voice- her
tone remained stubbornly
firm,, as she stiffly moved
towards the man who stood
in front of her,, one she thought
she knew,, one that she had thought
to of trusted . it had all been a big
mistake .
'one should assume you have
collected the knowledge for me
. . . after you failed to turn her
side,' he almost spat in a
toxic tone,, his brow raised
expectantly . 'i know part of the
song, the word of which they
speak,' the young mage timidly
spoke . the light soaking into her
gown and filling her with bitter
warmth that she wished not
to feel .
in fact she wished to only
feel the nights chill,,
as the brisk draft flowed and
filled the tower . not unsurprisingly
too . the girl only wished for the
nights cold nature to settle as
to tell her that she left all . . .
humanity in the past .
'you disgrace, how could
you not learn all of the song?'
he questioned her in a cold tone
'i learnt enough to do what shall
be done, you need not worry -
the time has broken the barriers
between mortal magic and
the crystal . they hold the
magic, how are they to
protect?' she asked in a
monotone - as to not
enrage the male who stood
before her in his prideful
stand . 'then, shall we
commence the deeds of
the early morn?' he asked
in a bitter whisper .
'i have not a say for what we shall do,
so be it what i must .' she quietly
stated .
the two voices, of fallen angels -
the song strange for a mortal to hear
their voices angelic but their intentions
were tainted . the crystals started to
explode with colours and different
shades being cast about the room .
the chanting was attractive to the
ear as it rattled the core in
an alluring sound which
could be compared to that of
a sirens song, to lure the weak
minded and the kindred souls .
much like a moth to a flame .
loud and swift steps harshly
stomped at the stairs of one
person, a maiden of the
same age, maybe an hour or
so younger of the woman dressed
in the black robes .
'stop! you know not of
what you are doing !' she claimed,,
the maiden had dark almost black
but wooden locks that tumbled
down her shoulders eyes wide
on realisation of who the
young lady was .
'we know of what we are doing,
be gone you unfaithful follower,
keep your mind away from
such matters!' the man exclaimed
and the crystals returned to their
natural shades as the man in
black clothes stormed towards
her like a violent tempest .
'please no !' she screamed,
as the young maiden jolted awake
in her chamber . had this all been but
a horrible dream ? she sighed as she
looked down to the necklace that
dangled around her neck it was
a night blue crystal that sparkled
a blue colour in the light,
although slightly clouded .
then the reality had set in
her veins . . .
t'was but a dream,
for now .
