T.M.I
I have to write a persuasive essay to try and persuade someone to read a book, and I chose to do T.M.I. but I still have to do the last paragraph, but this is it so far...
Many people think T.M.I stands for too much information, but that's not the case. T.M.I actually stands for The Mortal Instruments, which is a 6 book series, written by Cassandra Clare. 6 books may seem like a lot, but when you're reading the series, 6 books will be nothing. The Mortal Instruments is a great series because the books take you in a world where you can only go in books, you'll love the characters; they all have their own personality, and the plot twists, there are so many that you'll never expect until it happens. The books are ready to take you on an adventure, but are you ready?
Many books take you in a different place, like maybe to a different continent, but The Mortal Instruments takes you in a place you can never go on earth. The Mortal Instruments takes place in modern day, except it's not in a place you can visit right now. This series takes you in a world; the shadow world where shadowhunters, half angel, half human, roam. For shadowhunters, Alicante and Idris are places for shadowhunters, and only shadowhunters can visit them. Along with shadowhunters are downworlders: warlocks- half demon, half human, vampires, werewolves, and fairies- half demon, half angel. The downworlders don't always get along with shadowhunters, so that's why there is something called the accords. The accords are like a peace treaty between shadowhunters, and downworlders. In Idris and Alicante, there are protective wards so no vampires, werewolves, warlocks, or fairies can get in, but if the wards are broken or get destroyed, any downworlder can enter. Many shadowhunters live in Idris, and Alicante because it's a very pretty place, and Alicante is also known as the glass city because of its glass wards. When you start reading, you will be taken in this world, and you will never want to leave it.
Whenever I read, I never want to stop because I never want to leave this world, and because of the characters. There are a lot of main characters, and they are all different. Jace Wayland, Clary Fray, Simon Lewis, Isabelle Lightwood, Alec Lightwood, Magnus Bane, and other characters later in the story. Jace Wayland is very arrogant, but is a very good shadowhunter, and you might find yourself falling in love with him. "Have you fallen in love with the wrong person yet?Jace said, "Unfortunately, Lady of the Haven, my one true love remains myself.""At least," she said, "you don't have to worry about rejection, Jace Wayland." "Not necessarily. I turn myself down occasionally, just to keep it interesting." Another quote: "Can I help you with something?" Clary turned instant traitor against her gender. "Those girls on the other side of the car are staring at you."Jace assumed an air of mellow gratification. "Of course they are," he said, "I am stunningly attractive." Those are some quotes from Jace. Clary Fray, she is a new shadowhunter and new to this whole world, she is brave and will do whatever she can to save her mother. "Clary felt suddenly annoyed. "When the self-congratulatory part of the evening is over, maybe we could get back to saving my best friend from being exsanguinated to death?""Exsanguinated," said Jace, impressed. "That's a big word." "And you're a big-""Tsk tsk," he interrupted. 'No swearing in church.'" A quote from Clary. And then there's Simon, Clary's best friend, and will die for Clary if it protected her. A quote from Simon is, ""I've got the Mark of Cain," said Simon. "That means nothing can kill me, right?" "You can kill yourself," Magnus said, somewhat unhelpfully. "As far as I know, inanimate objects can accidentally kill you. So if you were planning on teaching yourself the lambada on a greased platform over a pit full of knives, I wouldn't." 'There goes my Saturday.'" Isabelle, or Izzy lightwood, is a fierce shadowhunter, and she is very smart . A quote from Izzy: "And Alec looked at her and shook his head. "How do you manage never to get mud on your clothes?" Isabelle shrugged philosophically. "I'm pure at heart. It repels the dirt." Another quote is, "If you knew how to cook, maybe I would eat," Jace muttered. Isabelle froze, her spoon poised dangerously. "What did you say?" Jace edged toward the fridge. "I said I'm going to look for a snack to eat." That's what I thought you said." Isabelle turned her attention to the soup." Alec Lightwood, is Izzy's older brother: Alec is very strict with the law, but is confused about who he really is, but he discovers himself through the series. "I did not make a pie," Alec repeated, gesturing expressively with one hand, "for three reasons. One, because I do not have any pie ingredients. Two, because I don't actually know how to make a pie."He paused, clearly waiting. Removing his sword and leaning it against the cave wall, Jace said warily, 'And three?'" You'll have to read to find out what the 3rd reason is! Last, but certainly not least is Magnus Bane. Magnus is a very complex character, he is the high warlock of Brooklyn and is 800 years old, loves glitter, and to describe Magnus in one word is impossible, describing him would take a lot of paragraphs! He has a lot of great quotes! Here is one; "Malachi scowled. "I don't remember the Clave inviting you into the Glass City, Magnus Bane." "They didn't," Magnus said. "Your wards are down." "Really?" the Consul's voice dripped sarcasm. "I hadn't noticed." Magnus looked concerned. "That's terrible. Someone should have told you." He glanced at Luke. "Tell him the wards are down." Of course, there are other characters but they will come up later in the books. "I don't care," Clary said. "He'd do it for me. Tell me he wouldn't. If I were missing-" "He'd burn the whole world down till he could dig you out of the ashes. I know," Alec said." Can you guess who Alec, and Clary are talking about? Read the series to find out!
Reading a book where there is a happy ending is never real, no books end with you smiling, most likely. By the end of the series, you will be very upset because of all of the plot twists, and what the author does to you which breaks your heart. In the end of each book, there is a twist that you wouldn't expect, which makes the series very suspenseful, and nail biting. The books in the series in order are; City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass, City of Fallen Angels, City of Lost Souls, and the last book, City of Heavenly Fire. If I had to pick my favorite book out of the series, I couldn't because all the books are so good! After reading the series once, you will want to read it again and again! Whether you are crying of sadness, or crying of happiness, the book will be a roller coaster of emotions. And with all the plot twists, you will definitely be angry with author for doing that to you, and the characters. But in the end, the series would have changed your life, for the good.
Wow! That was a lot longer than I thought! And I'm not even done, but tmi is a good series, so I could go on and on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry if there are spelling/grammar mistakes, I haven't proof read it ;)
