The sun is shining outside, hitting the pavement and emitting more heat than I've felt in a while. It's still chilly, especially in the dark of the shade, but it's actually sunny for once. If this was a book in which the author was utilising pathetic fallacy, it may suggest there's something good in store for me today.

I rush home from school, more energy in my step than ever before. Trembling hands unlock my front door before I race up the stairs to my bedroom to grab my laptop. I pour myself a cup of tea and get comfortable. I'll probably be here a while. I open up my computer and stare blankly at a story I've been working on for a long time. My tired eyes skim read battles and pain amongst the characters, drinking it in as if it's the caffeine keeping me going. Control, shift, C tells me I'm less than 800 words away from a new record. That alone is enough to elicit a small smile from me, pride running through my veins.

My fingers are a blur as they type away on the keyboard, desperately trying to hit that milestone I've been aiming for for so long. The Wombats are blasting through my earphones, the strong beat of one of their songs pushing me forward and providing me with the determination I need. As I take a short sip of tea from my favourite mug (my slurp mug), my eyes graze over the words again.

Control, shift, C. That's it. I've done it. 50,000 words. I didn't think the day would ever come. With a proud grin on my face, I can easily say that I stand by each word of the book. It's full of love, loss and pain but it isn't the worst thing I've written. Certainly not the best but by no means the worst. It's up there.

50,000 words. They were so worth all the hours I piled into writing it.

I don't know what this is exactly but I just wanted to tell you I wrote a 50,000 word book. It's my longest one and I'm so proud of it. It's full of pain and serious problems but it's my baby. I learnt a lot writing it and I hope you do too if you read it. It hasn't got a title, nor have I put in chapters yet so it may be a while before I post it. Just wanted to say YAYYYYY I DID IT. I WROTE A 50,000 WORD BOOK!
