The leaves have all retired this season
as snow takes over the ground at my house.
Cold beauty comes, without rhyme or reason
Creatures run away, each bird and gray mouse.

The porch now covered in glittering ice,
traveling into town does prove quite hard.
Hot cocoa in a green mug will suffice
while I watch thin icicles fall, bombard.

My winter cabin will stay cozy, warm.
I see through the window a world, dull gray.
Safe from the whirling white winter wind's storm,
I embrace the wool blanket till spring days.

Here, hidden, inside my cheery log home,
I watch the perfect chaos till spring comes.
