I wrote this with a friend in my creative writing class. He was on the football team, and I usually like to watch football. We had to write a sonnet about something we both had in common.

Come to the football game tomorrow

Hotdogs, hamburgers, pizza, and nachos

Team hats, colorful t-shirts and key chains

All in the hope of promoting team spirit.

Watch the players running on the field

quarterbacks, linebackers and wide receivers

running around north, east, south and west

they are warming up for the big game.

Sit in the midst of the jam-packed bleachers

young children, teens, enthusiastic students

all wearing shades of blue, white and grey

all on a mission to cheer on the teams.

Under the bright lights of the stadium,

on the field a battle will be fought and won.
