So, there's this online writing prompt that I like to use in order to write structured short stories. I'll leave it down below so you can follow the directions if you'd like.

No one is here, and the silence stretches on. Cerulean skies seem to glare down at me.

The air seems to leave my lungs, and my breath comes in shallow, insufficient pants. The wind howls around me like an angry beast. The path in front of me seems to stretch on forever, a reminder that I can never escape the past.

My body protests, but I run.

My feet pound against the dirt, my shoes coming off somewhere along the way. In this moment, I wish I could fly, so that I might leave that world behind much more quickly. But, unlike the fearless hawk, I cannot take to the skies. I am trapped on the ground, searching for salvation and serenity.

As the dirt path comes to an end, I pause to consider my next move, my next step. The emerald grass beneath my feet is a welcomed relief, and the air is filled with the sweet aroma of flowers. Like a moth drawn to a candle, I venture towards the smell, entering a nearby meadow.

I freeze.

I am surrounded by beauty; lilac flowers show me where I am meant to be.
