Damn hormones!
For once in my life can they just fuck off?
If they didn't love messing with me, then I wouldn't have fallen for the Lightning Ninja, whom I don't know, dammit!
I groaned in utter annoyance as I flopped down on my bed, looking up at the ceiling which still had those little glow-in-the-dark stars from my childhood which are IMPOSSIBLE to get off. I really needed to talk to someone right now...
My whole body abruptly sat up, an idea now implanted in my brain. I reached over and grabbed my phone from its spot on my nightstand and dialed an all too familiar number.
"Hello...?"
"Jay, I'm having a crisis. Get your ass over here."
"But I'm tired...."
"And I don't need to absolutely have a meltdown."
"Uggghhhhhhh fine. I'm on my way."
"Thank you."
The call ended and I placed it on my nightstand again. I fiddled with my hands and hair as I impatiently waited for my childhood friend to arrive. It was only a few minutes of a wait, seen as Jay lived just down the hall, but he was bound to try and get me back by taking his sweet time. Eventually, there was a knock at my door. "It's open!" I called. The doorknob turned before the door pushed open, revealing a very annoyed teenager wearing his signature blue jacket with his ginger hair slightly ruffled. I snorted slightly at his appearance, seen as he just looked absolutely done with me. "Alright, what do you want?"
Taking my cue, I stood up from my bed and started to pace back and forth, leading Jay to sigh and sit on my bed. He knew what he just got himself into.
"So you know how hormones are?"
"Yes, Y/N. I'm a teenager too."
"Well, to be frank, they can just fuck off and get outta my life because now they've made me fucking fall for someone I don't even know!"
Jay, who had been lazily watching me through half-lidded eyes, suddenly jumped to attention.
"What?! Who?!"
I stopped my pacing, a blush starting to spread across my cheeks out of embarrassment. "Promise not to tell or freak out?" I asked. Jay nodded solemnly. "Cross my heart and hope to die," he replied. I breathed a small sigh of relief.
"Umm, you know the ninja?"
Jay raised an eyebrow at me. "Yeaaah?" he pressed. I wrung my hands together as the blush on my face heated up.
"I-I kinda maybe fell in love with the Lightning Ninja...."
The ginger sitting on the edge of the bed suddenly let out a cry as he fell to the ground.
"Jay! Are you okay?" I asked, running over to his side. He looked up at me and, instead of giving me a smartass response that I expected, just had his jaw hanging down with my words escaping. Strange. "I-Is it that weird?" I hesitantly asked. Jay instantly shook his head, and I had begun to notice his cheeks turning a shade of pink.
What the...?
"W-Well, why do you think it's weird if you know the person?"
Instantly my heart was shoved in my throat at his words. How in the hell would I know the Lightning Ninja? AND how in the hell did Jay know I knew him?! "Wait a minute...." I muttered. Jay stiffened and his blue eyes widened. I could've sworn I saw a few beads of sweat trail down his face.
"Are you friends and know who the Lightning Ninja is?!"
Jay noticeably relaxed, though his worried gaze darted away from mine. "Not necessarily..." he mumbled. I groaned in annoyance. Why did he have to be so quiet and not reveal anything by accident now dammit!
"Can you please tell me what on earth you're talking about when you say I 'know' the Lightning Ninja?" I pleaded. Jay looked around my room nervously, trying to avoid my gaze. Fine, if he's gonna play it like this, I can too. I accentuated my plea by giving Jay my best puppy-dog eyes and pleading frown. He looked at me and noticed my expression, and he sighed in exasperation. "Really Y/N? You are seventeen!" I didn't give up on my plea until Jay finally gave in.
Success.
"Fine, but you better not tell anyone or freak out," Jay said. I nodded in response. Jay slowly sighed. "I can't believe I'm doing this..." he muttered. He closed his eyes for a second before turning to meet my own E/C gaze.
"I'm the Lightning Ninja."
Silence came from me. No one spoke, it was just silence. Finally, I started laughing. "Why are you laughing?" Jay whined. "That's a good joke, Jay. Thanks a lot for getting my hopes up then dashing them," I replied between giggles. Jay's gaze had a slight glare to it. "Really? I'm not joking!" he exclaimed. "If you are the Lightning Ninja then prove it!"
And the next thing I know Jay has disappeared into a swirling blue mini-tornado of lightning.
When the tornado ended, Jay was standing there, looking at me as if what he had done was totally normal. I gaped like a fish because holy shit my best friend was the Lightning Ninja and HE WAS THE LIGHTNING NINJA. The red blush once again attacked my cheeks and a wave of embarrassment came over me. "U-Ummm..." I stammered. Jay also had a red blush dusting his cheeks, accentuating his adorable little freckles. "Thing is, I also maybe love you, Y/N," Jay said, looking at the ever so interesting floor. A light laugh escaped me and I hugged Jay.
"I'm glad it was you."
Jay smiled back at me before gently pressing his lips to my forehead.
"I'm glad it was me too."
