"Here is your order, Miss (Y/L/N)." Peeta smiled at you, his cheeks dusted with pink due to the cold.

The snow had accumulated and a chilly breeze made the boy shiver, his flimsy coat not offering much heat to him. The grass and lake near your house had frozen. Gentle snowflakes still fell from the sky, enveloping everything in white.

With shivering hands you took the freshly baked cake from him, your breath coming out in small puffs.
"Thanks a lot, Peeta."

The boy had began to shiver a lot now, his nose and ears were red and his lips had began to turn blue. He had travelled all this distance in the extreme cold, with nothing but a useless coat, he would obviously be cold by now.

"Come inside, Peeta. It's freezing outside right now."

"No, my mother would-"

"You'll freeze to death!"

"Alright then, thank you very much." He offered you a grateful smile and followed you into your warm house, where you lived alone with your pet (animal of choice).

You threw some more logs into the fireplace to start a bigger fire as Peeta removed his coat and tattered gloves.

"Sit in front of this. You'll warm up soon." You pointed towards the fireplace.

"O-okay." He replied, his lips quivering and his body shaking.

He might get a cold at this rate. You had to do something.

"Stay here. I'll bring you tea."

You heated up some water, set up two cups and prepared two cups of tea. You sat down with Peeta, offering him one.

As he began to drink his tea, you brought two blankets for him and covered him with them.

He had stopped shivering now, and his lips were a rosy pink. He looked better and you felt extremely relieved.

Sitting by the fire, you both shared the cake he brought, drank tea and exchanged merry conversation. You both began to warm up to each other now and it felt good.

The day had long passed, the snow had stopped falling and it was now time for him to go. You almost didn't want him to leave. He was fun to talk to and you had grown tired of being lonely all the time.

"Thank you for today, (Y/N). It means a lot."

"No, please don't thank me! I should be thanking you, for the cake and good company." You gave him a huge smile, the first one that reached your eyes since a long time. "Wait, I have something to give you."

You ran to your room and took out your father's long forgotten coat, which was very warm and cozy, and gave it to Peeta.

He stared at it, then at you, his eyebrows raised, "What's this?"

"A coat?" You replied, making a 'duh' face, "It was my dad's. It should keep you warm, since yours is way too thin."

"No, I'm fine. You don't have to-"

"Hey, look, please just take it. I'll be at peace knowing you're warm and not sick." You replied, a soft smile on your lips.

His cheeks grew red and he managed to give you a sweet smile, "Thank you so much."

"You're welcome."

He opened the door and as he turned to leave, you told him, "You know, you can visit me, whenever. I'm usually alone and you're fun to hang out with. It's nice to have someone around."

His smile grew bigger and he nodded eagerly, "I'll be sure to visit you again, you're really nice."

"Thank you."

"Goodbye!" He gently kissed your cheek and left.

Your cheeks heated up and you felt really, really warm. You held your cheek, your heart doing somersaults.

Peeta Mellark would be what would complete your empty life.
