          M is for mother. My mother has always been a person I could rely on. She has always been so understanding and has always been there for me. I know that if I need something, all I have to do is ask.

          In my family, I either had to go to one of the males in the house or my sister and they were always concerned with their electronics, so they were never much help. With my mom as soon as she was asked, she would put down whatever she was doing to help. Homework, an art project, an essay it didn't matter; she was always there to help.

          The most significant time I remember her helping me is when my Opa died. I was afraid to talk to anyone else about it, so I would talk with her. For a while after his death, I would just often break down crying in her arms. She didn't care that tears were all over her, she just wanted to help me through my problems.

          Between my siblings and me we call our mother "Magic Mommy." She got this nickname because she was like magic to us. We lost something, mother could find it. Broke something, mother could replace. Can't-do an essay or project, mother was there to help.

          My mother isn't super strict, but she is protective. She gives us the freedom we need to fully grow and develop our independence. She accepts us for our weirdness and everything. 

          In this world, my mother is the mother that I need. She lets my creativity fly and makes sure I make the right choices. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have gotten this far. She teaches me responsibility while still letting me teach myself.

          I have a grasp of what I would be without my mother. I wouldn't be as openly weird as I am today. Most likely, I would care more about what people think about me and wouldn't be in gifted. I wouldn't be open to others' opinions and would be in a lot of trouble. I'm not those things because my mother raised me differently.

          I don't care what people think and I let my weirdness shine. I'm in gifted because she helped me learn more things than needed for my grade level. I stay out of trouble and try new things.

          I am thankful that I have Tammy Brant as my mother and no one else. In my heart, I will always love her even if my words don't say it.
