"Nature's great masterpiece, an elephant; the only harmless great thing," 

           E is for elephant. For as long as I can remember, every time I walked into that old, two-story house, there would be elephant figurines, paintings, and statues. There would even be mugs.

           My grandmother loved collecting elephant things. She loves elephants for one reason; they never forget. Sometimes, we joke around and say her spirit animal is an elephant. She remembers just about everything.

          Just about every year, my family gets my grandmother something elephants. One year, my mother gave my grandmother three paintings of elephants done by elephants. This year, I want to give her an elephant watercolor painting. I've been giving ombre watercolor paintings to people I know for their birthday.

          Now, my family is all around weird, so we don't call my grandmother the usual things like Nana, Grandma, Mamaw, Grammy, you know those things. No, we call my grandmother Omi. Omi in German means granny. Since Omi is from Germany, it makes sense. She actually moved to America when she was about twelve years old.

          Omi has always been there for me, so every time I see her I put my all into everything I do. I help cook and clean, make her coffee, and do what I can for her. She is just such an amazing woman. Every summer, I spend with her. I truly love her, and I'm not ready to lose her. I already lost one of them, and I'm not ready to lose the other.
