Last night my girl scout troop went to dollar tree to buy gifts for homeless kids.
We had split into groups so I went to my usual friends.
Due to not wanting to give away their identity, I will call them Mad, kat, and Creeps. (Yes, Creeps as in minereader01134 )
We chose to give presents to a 5-10 year old boy.
Mad and Kat got him a you car, a mini football, pokemon cards and a thing I can not remember.
I got him a black that and tried to get a pink tiria.
Mad, Kat, and the troop leaders said not to get that, that a regular boy wouldn't want it.
I could understand that they are new to breaking gender rules, so I switched it out for a stuffed turtle.
The part that pisses me off though, Creeps tried to get the kid purple gloves and they got worked up about it.
I do not see purple as a girl's color.
Neither did Creeps.
Mad kept joking about it, saying things like, "let's get him a dress while we're at it!"
She could not see how serious we were about it.
Granted, Kat didn't care, yet Mad and the troop leaders did.
I didn't understand what was so wrong with purple gloves!
Cody got the purple gloves still, even with Mad saying the kid's gonna get bullied.
Later we had to look at some food in Kroger for a badge.
Mad and Kat are a grade below me so they are still cadets while Creeps and I are seniors.
There is one other senior in our troop, so we looked at the food with her. (Mad and Kat was doing a different badge since they are cadets.)
I'm gonna call her Flower.
We asked Flower if purple was a girl's color and she stated that there are no such thing as gendered-colors.
She also stated, something we already knew, that blue used to be a girl's color and pink used to be a men's color.
Then she said this awesome statement, "Color is waves of light. Last I remember, waves of light doesn't have a gender."
When Creeps and I went home we asked Mama about it and she said purple was a girl's color and that the boy was gonna be disappointed.
I asked her reasoning and she said that she bought a purple bra. :/
So I ask you reader, is purple a girl's color?
