Special Mission
Ommi was packing a bag, getting ready for a mission when Hawks walked in, rubbing her back. "How long are you gonna be gone?" he asks, resting his chin on her shoulder. "Just about a week, you'll survive without me," Ommi tells him with a smile, gently booping his nose. He smiles, holding her from behind. "You still haven't told me about the mission, is it top secret? You can tell me, baby bird."
"I...I can't, I'm sorry."
"Is it that embarrassing."
"Heh, yeah, I'll see you after a week, okay?"
Ommi kisses Hawks on the forehead, rubbing his hair before leaving. Hawks watches her leave. "Man, I hate to see you go, but I love to watch you leave~" he teased as she walked away. 'Wait...this seems...familiar...the head pat...walking away...' Hawks thought to himself, trying to remember something he seemed to have forgotten.
Ommi soon leaves the apartment, heading out to meet up with some other heroes. "It's good to see you, Ommi," Endeavor said, his arms crossed. "I said I'd be here, didn't I?" Ommi asked, her hands behind her head as she had her bag next to her. "Hawks didn't follow you?" One hero asked, Ommi shook her head. "I even made sure to check for feathers as well," she told them, Endeavor then pointed out the necklace she wore. "What about that?"
"...I always have this with me..."
"Just take it off for now"
"Fine...I hate that I have to lie to Hawks honestly."
"He can't know what you're about to do."
"I know...when do we do this?"
"Follow me."
Ommi followed Endeavor and the other hero into a building, seeing a big platform. "Now, when you go back, I should be there when I'm younger, and I'll be able to bring you back, okay?" the hero explained, Ommi nodded, heading to the platform. "I'm ready." The hero went up, and activated their quirk, sending Ommi back in time about 17 years ago.
Ommi stood there, feeling disoriented. "Ugh..." she looked around, seeing the hero from before but slightly younger. "Please tell me I'm in the right year..." The hero nodded. "Y-yeah! I can't believe future me was right...okay, so we have to try to get Keigo before the commission takes him, and turns him into a weapon, got it?"
"Yeah...so what do I say when I see him?"
"Um...say you're a hero and you want to take him under his wing."
"Heh, wing...Hawks likes those jokes..."
After the side effects wore off, Ommi went to find Keigo, in hopes of saving him. She had been going from house to house, but just couldn't find his. After a while, she was getting slightly hungry and went to a nearby supermarket to just get a little snack. "Let's see, what should-" She started, but a woman with what looked to be floating eyeballs around her bumped into Ommi. "W-watch it!" the woman said, sounding afraid. "Sorry, ma'am, didn't see you there, heh," Ommi said with a smile, even though the woman bumped into her. "Um...Mama, you ran into her..." a small voice said. Ommi and the woman look down, and Ommi's eyes widen.
It was him...Keigo Takami.
"Oh...did I? I...sorry, I thought I ran into you, I...I'm just tired..." the woman said, looking away. "Hm...? Oh uh, no worries," Ommi said, then looked at Keigo, seeing he was holding an Endeavor plush. "You like Endeavor, little guy?" she asked with a smile. Keigo was quiet, looking away. "He's shy...come on Keigo, let's go..." his mother said, taking him to check out. "You know, I know Endeavor," Ommi said, Keigo's eyes sparkled for a moment. "Y...you do-"
"Keigo. Now."
"I...I have to go..."
"That's fine, maybe I'll see you later," Ommi said, gently petting his head before walking off. Keigo watched her, his eyes sparkled. 'She's so pretty...' he thought to himself before following his mother.
Ommi let out a sigh. "I have to follow them...I have to save Keigo..." she said to herself, and waited behind the supermarket for a moment. Once she saw the two leave, she grappled up onto the buildings, following them from above until there was no more building to grab hold of, but kept following them quietly. After a while, she made it to their house and watched them go inside. She took a deep breath, trying to figure out her next step before seeing Keigo leave. "Hm..?" She followed him, seeing as he went into the city alone. 'God...this feels so illegal...' she thought to herself, realizing she was just...following a child. But, she knew that she wasn't going to hurt him.
Soon, she saw him go up onto a rooftop, sitting by the edge while holding his plush. Ommi then got an idea. She went to a different building and grappled around until she passed by the building he was on, making it look like she was just on patrol. When Keigo saw her, his eyes lit up. "Is that..." he said, she looked over and saw Keigo, waving. She went to grapple away but heard him call out to her. "W-wait! Miss...um..."
Ommi chuckled, making her way back and grappled onto the building. "I'm Om- um...I'm Chiyo, and your name was...Cookie?" she asked, making Keigo giggle. "No, it's Keigo!" he said with a smile. "Ahh...got it, Comet."
"Haha! I said Keigo!"
"Ohh, Keigo! I got it now."
Ommi chuckled, sitting next to the kid. "I...I shouldn't be talking with anyone..." Keigo said, his smile fading. "Hm? Will I turn into a bird if I keep talking to a bird brain like you?" Ommi asked, petting his head, and making him giggle. "No, it's just...my dad doesn't want anyone to know I exist...he wishes I wasn't born..." he hugged his Endeavor plush, letting out a sigh. "That's tough...but, I bet one day, everyone is going to want to know who you are, and you'll be loved by many," she said, rubbing his back and being careful of his wings. "Y...you really think so?" Keigo asked, looking up at her. "Of course! If you want, I can take you under my wing and make you a hero if you want."
"Really?! I...mmm...I don't think my dad would like that..."
"Is your dad a bad person?"
"..."
"Sorry, I shouldn't have-"
"He hits me...and Mama...he's not good..."
Ommi's eyes widen, seeing Keigo show his little bruised arms. Ommi knew he had a rough childhood, but to see it...broke her heart. "...I'm going to fix it. Get on my back." She said, turning so he could hold on. Keigo was hesitant at first, but complied, getting on. Ommi grappled through the city, making sure Keigo held on tight.
"Whoa...it's like flying."
"One day, you won't need me to help you."
Ommi looked over her shoulder, seeing Keigo smile. It warmed her heart. After a while, she made it to his house. "W...what are we doing here?" Keigo asked as Ommi got him down. "Stay right here, I'm going to call for back-"
"Who the hell are you!?" Ommi looked up, seeing Keigo's father. "Shit..." Ommi sighs, standing in front of Keigo. "I am a pro hero, and I'm going to have Keigo as my apprentice."
"Apprentice...hero...?! Keigo! Why were you out of the house?! You let the heroes here, you stupid, useless child!" Keigo's father yelled at the kid who cowered behind Ommi. Ommi was losing her cool, seeing Keigo afraid. She used her phone to call Endeavor. "Hello? Endeavor? I'm...Grapple Gal...I found the convict, Takami, the one on the run," she said, not letting her guard down, and talked to Endeavor. Keigo looked up at her, his eyes sparkling.
"Oh you bitch...I'll kill you!" Keigo's father yelled, charging at her with a knife. Keigo gasped, but Ommi stayed calm, extending her hand with her quirk, and punching him in the face. She tied him up, setting him to the side. "Well, Endeavor will be here soon, kid, do you want to meet him?" she asked, looking at Keigo who suddenly hugged her leg. "T-thank you...you're my hero..." Ommi's eyes widened, hearing him say that...sounded so pure, and genuine. She bent down, hugging him. "Yeah...you too...you're so brave..."
After a while, she took Keigo to the other hero who helped her out, holding him close. "Y-you did it! Wow! And managed to keep the timeline intact, well...mostly." The hero grinned, and Keigo gripped onto Ommi. "What does he mean...?" Ommi sighed, looking at Keigo. "I'm...from the future kid...but don't worry, I promise we'll see each other in the future, I promise I'll never leave you alone...maybe you can find me in your time..." she said, setting Keigo down and went to the platform. "You ready?" the hero asked, Ommi nodded, looking at Keigo. "Look for a girl named Ommi, okay?" she asked before getting teleported back.
When she came back, things...were different. It seemed much more peaceful in a way. The hero that sent her back looked at her. "Y...you did it! You were great!" they said with a smile. "Keigo..." Ommi said, slightly disoriented. "Hm?" Endeavor looked at her, he seemed...less grumpy. Ommi looked at them. "Where is Keigo? I need to see him." She said, going to leave, but Endeavor stopped her. "Here, take this back," he said handing her the necklace. She put it on, then rushed out the door.
She went back to the apartment. "Papa Bird...? You there?" she called out, looking around before seeing big red wings. "Hm? Ommi! I'm so happy to see you!" he said cheerfully, going and hugging her. Ommi blinked, hugging him close. "Hey...how are you, Hawks?" Keigo looked at her, blinking a bit before laughing. "Hawks? I know I look like a bird, but my name is Keigo, silly girl," he said, kissing her nose. "Heh...that's your hero name though..." she said, letting out a nervous chuckle. "No...it's Red Wind," he said, tilting his head. "R...red wind?" She asked. "Mhm! But enough about that, was your mission a success my love?" he asked. This...felt wrong. This wasn't the Hawks she knew...she messed up.
"I..." Ommi backed up for a moment. "Ommi? What's wrong?" he asked, scratching the back of his head. "This...this isn't you..." she said, tearing up a bit. "Ommi...did I do something wrong?" he asked, going and wiping her tears. "No...y-you didn't..." she said, holding him close.
"I...I changed the past...I changed you...I changed our history..." she said sadly. "I...I didn't think you'd change..."
"...So...you don't remember...how we grew up together...?"
"No...I..."
She fell to the ground crying. "I'm sorry, Keigo! I have to change things to how they were...I don't want to, but...this isn't my Keigo...this isn't my life, I'm sorry..." she sobbed. Keigo sat down next to her, holding her face, and smiled sadly. "Do what you need to be happy...okay? Just know...whether I'm Keigo...Red Wind...or even Hawks, heh...I'll always love you..." he said, kissing her head. She hugged him close, taking a deep breath before letting go. "Please...forgive me..." she said, standing up and wiping her face. Keigo rubbed her back. "It'll be okay...go be with your Keigo, okay?" he said.
Ommi nodded, heading out the door. She had to fix this...even if it meant undoing her work.
