Insecurities

(Hizani is like 13 here)

Aizawa was in the living room, watching tv and slightly dozing. He had been working pretty hard recently and wanted to relax a bit. His daughter, Hizani, walked in and sat next to him. "Can I watch with you?" she asked, looking at him with her black eyes filled with curiosity about the show he was watching. He looked at her and nodded. "Yeah, that's fine, just heroes and stuff," he said, yawning softly.

Hizani sat by her father, watching the tv. Midnight was on, talking about something. Hizani studied her for a moment, seeing how the people in the background seemed to love her. She seemed to get a little sad for a moment, continuing to watch. As she watched, more heroes came on, there were a lot of female heroes on there, they had bright eyes and looked so beautiful. Hizani looked at her arms for a moment, before rolling her sleeves up, holding her knees to her chest.

Aizawa noticed his daughter's actions, which made him raise a brow. "You good, kiddo?" he asked, turning his head to her. "...Dad am I pretty...?" she asked, looking at him with teary eyes. "Of course, you are...why ask such a silly question?" he asked, rubbing her back. Hizani looked at the tv. "All these female heroes...they're bubbly, they have these big bright eyes, and their skin looks so lively...and their bodies have curves and stuff...but...I'm not like that..." she said, looking down. "I have dark eyes...my skin is so pale I look like a ghost...and I'm as flat as a board, I don't look like these beautiful women...I don't feel like I can compare to them..." She laid her head on her knees, sniffling a bit.

"You're right, you don't compare to them..." Aizawa said, before pulling her into a hug. "Because you're beautiful in your own way, you don't have to look like them. You don't need bright eyes, curves, or any of that. One, you're still 13, and two...you're perfect the way you are, okay?" he told her, smiling softly at her. Hizani looked up at her dad, tears rolling down her face. "R...really? You think I'm okay the way I am...?" Aizawa wiped her tears away. "You're perfect, pumpkin, okay? It doesn't matter what others look like, or what anyone says, you don't have to change your appearance. You should love yourself just the way you are."

Hizani smiled, hugging him tightly. "Thanks, dad..." Aizawa smiled, keeping her close. "No worries, kid."
