When you slowly watch yourself go from their best friend for life, to a trio where you walk behind them, to being forgotten.

Me and Evelyn were besties for life. At least that's what we said. Almost everyday we'd hangout. No matter the weather, no matter the situation, we'd always be there for eachother. We both adored music, animals, games, almost everything was in common. I had a playlist I made of both of our favourite songs and music that fitted our friendship.

Evelyn: 'OFC YES- YK I WOULD'

We'd always be at the others house. She was like a daughter to my parents, and I was with hers.

Evelyn: 'She said no 😢'

Niki: 'I'm going back home 💀'

Evelyn: 'ASJSJDKAHAH-'

It was always just us, together against the world. We'd always make plans to live together and hangout everyday when we were adults. When we were younger we'd say we were sisters. That was until we met Ashlar at the park. We found out that she went to the same High school as us.

Evelyn: 'Why wouldn't I?'

Niki: 'Sorry I just thought this was our gc for just us?'

Evelyn: 'What do you have against Ash- 🤨Anyway wanna come over?'

Ashlar: 'Ofc gurl ✨'

Niki: 'Course bestie what time?💖'

Evelyn 'Sorry Niki I was talking to Ash'

Niki: 'Oh k..'

She didn't hang out with me alone much after that, Ashlar always had to be there.
"You're here, took you long enough.' Evelyn said.
"Sorry, sorry." I joked.
Evelyn and Ashlar looked at eachother and laughed.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Oh it's nothing, just an inside joke, you wouldn't get it." Ashlar explained.
"Oh"

We walked around for a while, the two infront chatting, and me behind listening.
We took a few selfies together, I had to try to fit in behind them.
"Hey Niki, we need to go, so uh you should too." Evelyn turned around and spoke to me after a while.
I nodded, said goodbye and left.

When I got home I put on some music and checked instagram, seeing that Evelyn had posted on her story. A bunch of photos that her and Ashlar took together long after I left, none with me in. Ah. Do they even like me? They didn't want me there did they. Was it just pity?.. It's probably nothing, maybe they thought they had to go and then realised they didn't? Maybe they just didn't think I'd enjoy what they were doing next. Either way it didn't make me feel great.
The music got louder,

'One day I know that you will be there, one day, I'll focus on the future, maybe one day'

I didn't get any calls or messages from either of them for a while. We finally hung out a few more times but I mostly just got ignored. Evelyn ended up avoiding me when we saw eachother out and she was with Ashlar and some new friends that I didn't know.

*The next day*

Niki: 'Hi, u ok? :)'

*Three days later*

Niki: 'Did I do something wrong? Sorry if I did'

*A week later*

Niki: Hey

Evelyn: Sorry I'm busy

It's not her fault... But why's she ignoring me? I've upset her haven't I.. It's all my fault isn't it. This is because of me isn't it. She likes Ashlar more than me. Isn't it.. ISN'T IT?
I put in one of my headphones and hummed along to the tune, trying to forget what's going on.

'At least in this lifetime, we're sticking together~'

One day, after a month or two of no conversation, I went over and asked her if she was okay.

Ashlar looked at her, before Evelyn began to speak.
"OH MY GOSH TAKE A HINT NIKI, I DONT LIKE YOU ANY MORE."

I was taken aback.
"Oh.."

And I'll be in denial for atleast a little while..
