Personal Thoughts on Harem Animanga/LN

Heyo~ It's Luccato-san desu! Wait! Where you going?! I'm sorry I won't do that ever again!!!

*cough* Anyways, this will be another one of those "LuLu rants about bullshit" chapter. This has been on my mind as I will be attempting to recreate a stereotypical harem story as my next project.

First things first: I have a guilty pleasure for watching harem anime/ reading stories of it. However, I also hate it. Originally, I didn't mind if one or two animanga/ light novels had similar templates of some sort. I like how different stories of the genre (does it actually count as a genre? Or is it just a "circumstance" of the plot?) manage their own various ways of dealing with the "many peeps on a single person" situation and/or how the situation came to be.

Examples would include the series Rokujouma no Shinryakusha?! (Invasion of room 106, or an English title similar to it- I forget),  Boku wa Tomodachi ha Sukunai (Haganai or I don't have many friends, etc), Ore no Nounai Sentakushi ga, Gakuen Love Come o Zenryoku de Jama Shiteiru (NouCome or My Mental Choices are Completely Interfering with My School Life), and a fair number of others in addition to that.

So some of you may be considering: Luccato-san, you're just a perv and a weeaboo. What's the point?

My issue is with the "goals" of the various stories, "originality", and "purpose/theme." When I say "goals", I refer to the conflicts, resolution, the path towards the resolution. Series upon series upon series of ripoffs of stories that should be put to rest come by more often nowadays. Infinite Stratos and many others are under this category as it's been repeating the same mecha harem ecchi genre with the same overall theme of some weak ass main character getting all the ladies, but he never realizes they're all after him even when it's beyond the painfully obvious hints. I don't mind the template usage too much, but there seriously has to be a limit to it. If you're going to use a template design as a base, might as well modify to the point where the story becomes your own or really stupid. (My stories are pretty stupid xD)

Now the goals of various harem anime can actually differ from "bang all opposite gender beings within said harem." Woah, shocking.

For instance, there's Brother's Conflict (though my opinion wasn't super high from personal preference and whatnot) where the main character just wants to fit in with her family. Another being GJ-Bu where the harem is only there for shits, giggles, and somewhat cute scenes. Alternative examples include situational harems where meeting the members of the harem are "coincidental due to the goal of the animanga/ light novel."

As for the purpose/theme, there's usually 2 things going on: The plot is there to show fan-service, or it's there to portray something other than fan-service. Will the theme show something other than a dude's chest or shove in as much eye candy as possible?

Nowadays, it's just borderline hentai.

So what's the conclusion of this rant?

A: Luccato-san needs a life.

B: Luccato-san is really picky about his harem anime

C: Luccato-san really wants a break from psychological thrillers

D: Luccato-san wants to sleeeep.

E: Luccato-san is typing in "Luccato-san" more times than necessary for Luccato-san to get his point across.

F: Luccato-san loves cake.

(The answer is D.)
