Previously, I didn't really think much about birthdays, well not exactly. If it's others then yeah i celebrate it like my friends', family members', even strangers.

Giving gifts,
Exchanging laughters,
Exchanging prayers.

It all seems normal, nothing out of the ordinary.

But when it comes to my turn, i don't really think much about it. I always forget about until either I got a notification from Google Calendar, or simply by opening in-game inboxes with wishes and gifts. Heck, not even my family remembers my birthday, the only time they remember was when I was reminded by it.

Until today that is,

Tragedy struck and nobody willing to help. I called and called but none answered until I tried calling my younger brother.

When he finally answered I was so thrilled to hear his voice and surprisingly, the voice of my mother in the background . I tell him what happened and when i expected a calming voice of reassurance instead got the yelling of blames and questions. Without thinking my hand hit the red button, my limbs hang low and my emotions gone numb.

Confusion hits first, why are they mad? Why are they blaming me? I haven't told my story yet but they are angry? I'm still alive, the damage isn't that bad, i still can pay it.

And then, realization struck.

It's my birthday today.

I mean, it's just any other birthdays but somehow it makes my heart shatter when I think about it again. Getting yelled at, blamed, cursed because of something that you don't have any control over, and also on the anniversary day you are born to the world. Somehow, it makes you feel like you're a living burden. As soon as you're born to this world, you're nothing but a nuisance to everyone, a hazard even...

Funny how life works, huh?
