Pacifica inhaled as she felt air swirl through her newly formed lungs.

Her adoptive mother, Queen Coral, had finally let her go to the surface-which she would've done with or without the Queen's permission-with a condition. There was always a condition with Coral. That was one of the many things Pacifica hated about her adoptive mother.

Pacifica stretched her human body. Normally, she would be swimming in the ocean below in the Castle of Atlantis, with her slightly torn tail swishing the water around her.

Reef, one of the guards with Pacifica, cleared his throat. Pacifica glared at him.

The condition, was to make sure that the human researchers coming to one of Atlantis' main entrances, didn't figure out about Atlantis. Of course, the humans knew about sirens and mermaids and such, but they were also trying to eliminate their species. Which was even worse for Pacifica.

Pacifica quickly walked towards the Coastal Siren and Mermaid Elimination Center, the CSMEC. She worked there. And sabotaged it.

Caspian, the other guard, quickly put an arm out in front of Pacifica. She ducked under it, snarling "Get out of my way,". "I can't allow that," He said. She slowed down slightly, letting the guards catch up.

As they entered the building, Pacifica scanned her tag that said "Arya Fulcran" on it. Everyone from under the sea had a water related name. That's how they first identified the sea species.

"Hey Arya!" Pacifica turned toward her colleague. Maxine rushed up to her. "Our squad has a meeting today! I think we're going to be chosen for investigation about the iceberg on the Atlantic!". Pacifica's eyebrows raised. She didn't think it would be that easy. She had a whole speech prepared. "Also, your bodyguard people aren't allowed in the building." Maxine glanced at Reef and Caspian. Pacifica looked back pointedly at her guards, who gave her a look that clearly said We're watching. She grinned at them.

"Let's go, Maxine," Pacifica said, strolling to the meeting room, Maxine following her. Maxine typed in the code to open the door. It slid open, revealing Dr. Lebre and... Cody's team? Pacifica scowled.

"Cody." She crossed her arms.

"Arya." He glared at her.

"Cody. Arya," Dr. Lebre scolded.

"Doctor," the two said in unison.

"Sit down, Arya. I'll explain the mission," Dr. Lebre said. Pacifica eyed the brown hair boy leaning back in his seat next to the only other open seat. She shook her head.

Dr. Lebre sighed. "We found an iceberg in the Atlantic. We think it might be an entrance to Atlantis. You guys are the ones researching it.".

"But where's mine and Arya team?" Maxine asked. "Too many people." Dr. Lebre answered. An average team was 6 people. There were 5 people in this room going on the mission.

Pacifica tied her sweatshirt around her waist. The surface weather was still recovering from a harsh winter, mainly caused by rough ocean currents controlled by mermaids. But somehow, even during that, it still felt hot.

"How's it so hot?" Pacifica asked, yawning. There wasn't any temperature changes under the water, so she wasn't used this. "Weather's been chaos. You know that," Lynda said, narrowing her eyes.

Oh, how Pacifica would love to drag her under water and watch as she struggled to breathe!

"It's called a rhetorical question, idiot," She muttered. Pacifica walked to the edge of the boat speeding over the water.

"We're approaching the iceberg," Cody said. A sudden wave of... something... crashed over Pacifica. She clutched the edge of the boat like her life depended on it. Which, at this moment, it probably did.

No, no! Not now! Not now of all times!

A shiver ran through Pacifica's spine. She sinked down onto the floor. "Hey, did you not just hear me?" Cody asked. "Yeah, I know!" Pacifica said, her hands in her dark brown hair, trying to massage the feelings away.

They docked on the edge of the iceberg, floating calmly on the water. "Look, you can slack off all you want. We're investigating this, with or without you." Lynda hopped onto the iceberg. Maxine sent a sorry look at Pacifica, then went to follow Lynda, Brent following.

Pacifica pulled herself up, facing towards the water. Cody approached her.

And then Pacifica fell off the boat.

It had been pushed from the other side (not the one Pacifica was facing) and the siren had flipped into the water.

The water felt sudden for a moment, pushing against her body before she sank in.

All of a sudden, her siren instinct took over. She shot through the water, presumably downwards, and her camouflage flickered. Her legs joined together and morphed into her dark tail. Her eyes blazed a purplish-red, scales decorating her arms and neck. Her skin turned unusually pale, and the water in her lungs was flushed out, and replaced with gills.

Quickly swimming through the water, Pacifica pushed the boat upwards, using her momentum to crash into it and flip it over. She swam out of sight.

She swam over to the iceberg, where the three were watching the boat in shock. Pacifica grabbed Maxine and pushed her under. Her eyes shone with betrayal. She stopped moving. Pacifica smirked. One down, three more to go.

Quickly surfacing, Pacifica vocalized a quick tune which made Brent walk into the water. She plunged a wooden chip into his chest.

Lynda scrambled away from the edge of the iceberg, accidently smashing into the entrance. It opened up, and Pacifca quickly conjured up an illusion that it was just normal ice.

Lynda screamed when Pacifica grabbed her leg, kicking and thrashing, trying to make her let go. The siren's nails dug into her skin, with thick red blood pouring out of it as she sunk.

Pacifica pushed Lynda down and watched as she struggled to breath. As much as she wanted to watch, she had another target.

She swam towards the boat. Cody was on top of it, coughing out water. He quickly grabbed his radio and called for back up. That wasn't good. Pacifica turned around as a ripple went through the water, and swam off, back to the castle.
