Preview of something idk
Her eyelids slowly opened. Something bright had nearly blinded her. Her vision cleared to see a man looking at her with intense blue eyes. She stood up from the thing she had been sitting on moments before. Where in the world was she? She scanned the scene before her. The man's blonde hair was neatly combed to the side. He was wearing a white lab coat with a name badge clipped to one of its pockets.
"Welcome to the world, my dearest creation. I see you have awoken."
She found herself speaking an almost automatic response. "Hello sir. Indeed, I have awoken. I'm doing just fine."
A wide smile appeared on his face. His eyes brightened. His reaction could have been compared to that of a kid in a candy store. "Yes. You will be of fine use to me, little one."
She cocked her head to the side, questioningly. "I'm sorry. Could you please repeat that again, sir?"
The man chuckled. "Don't worry about it, Annie. It's not a problem. Not a problem at all."
Annie returned her head to its previous position and flashed him a smile, showing all of her pearly white teeth. "Of course, sir."
~~~
Annie was, indeed, his most greatest creation. She was perfect in every way imaginably possible. Her locks of honey blonde hair that glistened under the light, her beautiful grey eyes, her picture perfect smile, her positive attitude. He couldn't have been more prouder. Annie had adjusted to her surrounding environment with ease. She had gotten used to it—the oohs and awes people would make when seeing her, the people asking her questions like "what are you" or "are you real". She'd just stare at them blankly. "I am Annie, and I am real. Why would I not be?" she'd reply.
They'd just laugh with their mouths wide open, holding their stomachs. She never did quite understand what it was they thought was so funny about her response. Was it abnormal? She just gave them her signature smile, still staring unblinkingly at them. She'd always see the man she had first seen when she had awoken from slightly out of the corner of her eye. What was so disapproving about her?
Annie sat in her freshly made bed. The white sheets had not a single wrinkle within them. Her eyes lingered on the door that served as an entrance to the room. The room was filled with experiments and projects that involved mechanisms. Her bed had been placed in the very far corner where she couldn't mess with any of the man's things. The door opened, and the man entered. He marched up to her.
"What is wrong with you?!!" he shouted, his face inches away from hers.
Annie cocked her head in the way she always did in question. "I'm not sure I understand—"
"Don't give me all of that bullshit! You know what you did, didn't you? Didn't you?!!" the man practically yelled, probably breaking everyone's eardrums in the laboratory. "You useless piece of shit! You don't know anything! You're not real. You're just some pathetic robot I made to try and show off. You're nothing. I bet you purposely tried to make me look like a fool! Acting all innocent when you're really just a stupid robot!!!"
Robot. Robot. Robot. . . The foreign words echoed in Annie's ears. She looked at the man, uncomprehendingly. What was a robot? She wasn't—real?
"I'm not sure I understand—" Annie repeated.
"Shut up! Just shut up!" the man said. "I don't want to hear your voice."
Annie fell silent. She didn't understand what was happening. What was happening?
"Silena!" the man called.
A few minutes later, a girl Annie had never seen before appeared. Her sleek black hair flowed down past her shoulders. She also wore a white lab coat. Her hands were stuffed into her pockets. She nervously glanced at the man, biting her lower lip. The man put his face into his hands.
"Discard of her. She is of no use to me anymore."
Silena slowly approached Annie as if she was afraid she would hurt her. She helped Annie rise to her feet and lead her though a series of twists and turns. She came to a sudden stop at a dark oak wood door. It was like a maze. Everything about the building was so organized and professional. They walked past numerous doors with numbers labeled on them for different reasons and things. The walls were painted white. Almost no other color could seen within the building. The only sign of color was usually the actual people roaming inside the building.
Silena opened the door. She stopped to face Annie. "I know that I'm not supposed to this, but I have to. I'm letting you go free. Go far away from here. I'm not sure if you even understand me, but just go. Hurry Annie!"
Her mouth quirked up into a grin. It had come naturally lit wasn't like all the others she gave to try and accommodate others. It had just appeared. She didn't have to make herself smile for the sakes of the people.
"Thank you, Silena. And please. Don't call me Annie. I'd prefer to be called something else," she replied.
Silena raised an eyebrow. "And what may that be?"
"The name is still in pending. I'll let you know when I find out," she said. "Farewell Silena. Thank you again."
"It was the least I can do," Silena said. "Goodbye."
The only clear thought running through the supposed "creation" 's mind was: I am a robot. I'm not real. I never was.
Not real.
Robot.
Robot.
Robot.
