Ben's scar comes from a day when he was a bit younger and still living with British Columbia (BC for short). She has a habit of picking favorites wit her cities and very much dislikes Vancouver. While she doesn't have a habit or problem of it she'd had a terrible week and one day just drank her worries away. Ben happened to come in at that moment and she yelled at him and such, he was too frozen to speak, she eventually accidentally broke a bottle and it slipped out of her ah d and went flying across the room. It hit Ben on the neck and he ran.
Though she never meant for any of that to happen (she doesn't like him but she doesn't hate him either) it left a lasting impact. He fled to the other side of the country and ended up living with Nathan and Parker. He hasn't seen BC since.

A part of Shotek's spirit waned when he realized he was no longer able to shoot a bow, and it still haunts hi to this day. He feels as if a part of his soul is missing.
(Though every so often he will go out by himself in secret and fire at least one or two arrows, it helps him even if he misses the target due to lack of practice. It helps him feel whole again. Though he's never told anyone and has yet to be caught doings so (which he dreads as it bad for his shoulders and he knows it but doesn't care) but there's always a chance that one day will finally be his last arrow fired....).
