He is very fond of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. (Though only the movie versions as he hasn't found anyone willing to read all the books to him...)

He has, on more than one occasion, mistaken a spirit for a living person and had lengthy conversations with them.
Sometimes he'd find out that they weren't alive by them suddenly disappearing, being asked why he was talking to a brick wall, the temperature suddenly dropping a few degrees, or seeing something move through them. Other times he never knew the difference at all....
