Thought to have originated around (or even before) the 13th century.
Formed after the tribes of Texcoco and Azcapotzalco went to war and the Texcoco won. They joined together and created the Aztec Empire.
The empire expanded due to a strong army (which included elite groups such as the Jaguar and Eagle warriors).
16th Century: Aztec capital of Tenohtitlan became the largest in the pre-Columbian era
The Aztec had always had minor rebellions due to having so many under their rule, though in 1515 they were defeated by the Huexotzingo and Tlaxcala. The arrival of the Spanish had given the Aztec "states" the courage to rise up against the empire and claim independence.
When the Spanish had first arrived they had a friendly relationship with the Aztec. But later (in 1520) a group of Spanish were killed in Tenochtitlan by a group of Aztec who were not satisfied with their leaders decision to be friendly.
When Hernán Cortés (leader of the Spanish conquistadors at the time) came to take the remaining Spanish they were attacked and forced to leave.
Ten months later in 1521 the Spanish attacked Tenochtitlan and, due in part to disease and lack of food, the Aztec fell to the Spanish.
Aztec descendants still live today in places such as Mexico, they retain a large portion of their old culture.

Why He Came to Camp International: Maya asked him to come
Appearance: naturally tanned skin, long black hair that ends a few inches above his waist, athletic build, and light brown eyes. He is a bit short coming in around at 5'3". He has three scars that run diagonally along his upper right torso and continuing along his upper right arm (from a jaguar attack).
Apparel: he has a jaguar skin draped around his torso and fastened together on his left shoulder. He wears tan pants that stop just below his knee and has a more modern version of his old shoes (a sandal-like design attached to a part that covers the lower half of his calf, which has fur decorating the top of it). Over top of his pants her wears an ancient styled black and white loincloth bearing his culture's design.
Personality: stoic, calm, strong-willed, eccentric, stubborn, fighter. He doesn't show much emotion outwardly (unless he knows you really well or it's just an in the moment kind of thing).
Allies: Native America, Mexico
Enemies: Spain, and a few others
Skills: he is a good fighter, preferring close combat, and has a particular knack for cooking over an open flame.
Other: he rarely ever smiles and can get easily offended about certain topics. He loathes Spain with a deep hatred.

Why He Came to Camp International: in all honestly he merely followed (from a safe distance) his sister and his 1p....
Appearance: naturally tanned skin (which is a tad lighter than his 1p's), long black choppy hair that ends halfway down his back, light pastel-purple colored eyes, and a lean yet somewhat athletic build. He is rather short coming in at 5'2" (an inch shorter than his 1p).
Apparel: he wears a black sleeveless turtleneck shirt, black leather arm guards on his forearms, dark brown pants, and tall black lace-up steel toed boots. He has kept part of his ancient headdress in the form of three feathers fastened together on each side of his head (framing his face).
Personality: jovial, friendly, mischievous, heart-strong, family-oriented, and loves to smile. Contrary to his olden ways he tries to argue that violence should never be the answer (though contradicts this if any of his family are insulted or injured).

Skills: he is very adept at climbing and astral projection (more so than his sister, Xoc).
Other: he is a near expert at navigating the 'spirit world', though he does not usually practice in communing with the dead. His longtime hoped for dream is to be able to have a positive relation with a spirit animal, though this has not happened. He is not ashamed to do things considered "feminine" (like cleaning, cooking, or sewing) as he believes "it isn't right to let them do all the cleaning while we make all the mess." Itzli also will never turn down food of any kind, especially anything spicy (his favorite), though he is highly sugar intolerant and will get extremely hyper if he consumes anything that contains it (unless it naturally in things, like fruits).

Apparel: she wears a colorful traditional-styled dress, boot-like moccasins, and a few feathers adorn her hair. She also wears a feather and a set of jaguar canines around her neck.
Personality: friendly, caring, family-oriented, though a warrior at heart. She suppresses her inner warrior of old in favor of a more kind persona. Though if she, her family, or her close friends are mistreated she has a tendency to "threaten with a smile."

Appearance: naturally tanned skin, long black hair tied up (though a bit shorter than her 1p!'s), an athletic build, dark red-magenta eyes, and multiple scars across her body. She has a scar on the left side of her face that runs through her left eye.
Apparel: Short traditional-styled dress, dark beige pants, brown moccasins, brown gloves, and she carries a small bone-knife on a belt with her at nearly all times. She also wears a small golden jaguar around her neck.
Personality: strong-willed, fiercely loyal, defensive, secretly heart-strong and family-oriented. For the most part she gives the respect she receives. To an extent she believes in "tough love" and loathes those who are dishonest, make empty promises, or go back on their word.
