The Scotlands and Pictlands all have a similar feature. For one they all used to (and some still do) wear the Pictland blue tribal/clan body paint.

But for some of them the paint is also infused with magic.

For example:

Ian has them (though they're usually unseen unless in use) and his are charms and fire wards. Some help with his flames and fire magic others (most of them) help to protect him from the heat and damage of the fire. (As he can create and manipulate fire but he can still be harmed by it).

The others have ones that do different things as well but I won't get into all of them. If you'd like to know feel free to ask~ of course you don't have to but meh.
