My First PSA
This is not about Pokémon, but I need to get this out.
I just read a story called 100 Voicemails, and after seeing Jordan Underneath's video on The Cat Lady and suicidal depression, I've decided.
I'm going to rant about suicidal depression.
So, as we all know, there are people who commit suicide out of depression. They of course, have their reasons, like that their depression has made them think that it's the only option, everything is going to hell, or even things like cynicism; that the world is pointless and that their life isn't worth living.
But, and I know I'm going to sound like a broken record, but,
Suicide is never the answer.
I know, you hear that all the time when being talked to about this, but it's true. There are always more solutions than taking your own life.
And, you also hear this a lot, but killing yourself is the easy way out, and paints you as a selfish person who doesn't care what their actions do to those around them.
This is the main thing. Someone who is alone, like the main character of The Cat Lady, thinks that their actions won't hurt anyone, and that they aren't needed in the world.
But, when people who are young, who have their whole life ahead of them do it, it...it sickens me.
I've heard a lot about people taking their own lives because of bullying, and I know what it's like. Getting bullied is tough, especially if you're an unpopular, faceless nerd like I am.
But, when I read 100 Voicemails, something happened in the story that made me want to write this.
Someone in a relationship took their own life.
Someone who had a romantic relationship with a friend took their own life, and that's what this is all about.
You see, I've never had a crush on anyone, and I don't have a girlfriend, but still, reading that made me sad.
If you're in a relationship with someone, you should keep going for them. When you share a connection with someone like that, you shouldn't even think about considering suicide.
Love is an amazing thing. When you can say that someone out there makes your life worth living, that's an amazing feeling, or so I'm told.
And by committing suicide, you are leaving your friends, family, and the person you love behind.
But, now I'm going to address some other problems I see. First off, how we treat ignoring bullying if you are the victim.
Now, I am all for the end of bullying, which like world peace, will never come, because there will always be power hungry ash-holes in the world. But, we need to step up how we talk about ignoring it.
This is a problem I have with all bullying programs. I can tell you from personal experience, that ignoring the problem doesn't make it go away. That works when you are being bullied by someone who is in Kindergarten or lower.
When I was bullied, I tried ignoring it, and that made them try harder. When you ignore someone, they will try harder to accomplish their goal, and not reacting to their taunting is almost physically impossible.
Second, this one goes out to all you out there reading this. If you know someone who is being bullied, or who is having rough times in their life, you can give them the most valuable treatment there is.
Talking.
From what I've seen and experienced, talking to the victim about their bullying and living situation is the best thing you can do to help. A conversation is a powerful tool, and even if it doesn't fix everything, it can at least help alleviate the pain.
So, if you are against bullying, and you want a better way to help those who are affected, please, put this on your profile description or in a conversation on your profile, to show that you're willing to help those affected by bullying in anyway. I know very few people who see this will, but a guy can dream, can't he?
I know that times seem pretty rough,
I know it's getting to you.
But I also know your pretty tough,
To do things like you do.
"Don't judge a man," everybody says,
"Till a mile in their shoes you walk."
So I hope you'll let me do that,
'Cause I think, we need to talk.
You 3 are the only ones who I know will do anything about this. Please, help get the message out in any way possible.
For anyone who sees this, gets this far, and agrees with me, thank you for hearing me out. Please, if you know someone who is bullied, or a victim of domestic violence, or in an abusive relationship, talk to them. It may not seem like much, but it can make all the difference in the world.
Until next time, this is SSGSSJ2, and...no sign off today. Just, bye.
