...wow
I thought I had posted this a couple months ago... I guess I didn't. So, here it is!
I can hardly believe I made this. The texturing is just... amazing.
This is a concept I've been mulling over for a while finally pulled together into a successful piece. And I'm proud of it.
The most important parts, in terms of the meaning of the piece, are the blue text across the top and the book on the left.
On the top, 'coincidence' and 'magic' spread out from the center, as reflections of each other. The way I think about the world, coincidences are magic's manifestation in our universe. So they are one and the same.
Note that the text on the book says "The book flew..." and the book is floating/flying. Coincidence, magic, who cares what you call it.
The rest of the things are more symbolic of me as a person, rather than my views on the world in general. There is, of course, my ever-present pink cape, with one ribbon end pristinely perfect and the other tattered and falling apart. When I am wearing the cape, the tattered ribbon is on my right, so it wound up on the right side of the picture. I'm proud of the velvety texture on the main body of the cloak and the flowing placement of the pearly beads on the ribbon.
And then there is the eyes. One a green-based hazel, the other an amber color. The same thing that happened with the ribbon always winds up happening to the eyes; I imagine the green/hazel one on my right and the amber one on my left, so the amber one winds up on the left side of the picture. The eyebrows are supposed to be different, and the amber eye is supposed to not have any eyelashes. It's all part of a story I came up with that may or may not become part of A Log of Suspicious Coincidences, so I'm not going to give spoilers. If it doesn't become part of that, I will write it out and post it as it's own story, or something.
