If you rub a balloon on your head, it will build up static electricity in your hair and make it behave oddly. 

Apparently, it's possible to do something similar while brushing your hair. My hair brush was literally crackling like a plastic slide when you go down it on a hot day and get shocked. I'm told static electricity is harmless, but I still decided to leave my remaining small tangles until tomorrow.
