Drawing Programs

My go-to drawing program is not working out for me currently, and my computer severely limits my options for finding a new one. I did find a website that might work, at least for a temporary fix. It's called Kleki, and I made a rather odd drawing of Seto on it.

Because I was just starting to learn how to use the site, different sections of the picture have different levels and styles of detail and precision. My favorite is probably the nose. The mouth is trying (and, luckily, failing) to be a clown's. I'm not particularly fond of that. And the eyes looked fine when I drew them, but now they look sort of like dinner plates: large and flat. Mostly the flatness comes from the highlights on them-- I initially forgot to make the pupils, and so I put them over the original highlights, and had to put the new ones in about the same places because the ends of the old ones peeked out some. I think the original highlights were a bit better, but who knows at this point.

Normally, I'd put anything involving Seto over in what is basically my Setosorcerer Random Book. The reason I didn't this time is that I found an old drawing of mine in my Google Drive, added a little bit more detail to it, and got to thinking about what my ideal drawing program would be like.

This is basically meant to be me as a cat, was made in Google Drawings, and was partially traced from a photograph. I think the main shapes of the head and body were traced, as well as the eyes, the mouth, and at least part of the tabby 'M' design on the forehead. If I'm remembering correctly, I drew the tail myself, and used the photo as reference but not a direct guide for the stripes, shadings, whisker placement, and light patch in the front.

You can actually do a lot with lines and shapes in Google Drawings that I don't think most people would even imagine trying to do. On the other hand, I want to add fur texturing to my cat here, and trying to do it in Google Drawings wouldn't go very well.

What I'd really like in a drawing program, I think, is an interface similar to Google Drawings to create the main shapes and basic shading, and then a way to draw on each piece, like you might in a typical drawing program with the select wand. Maybe there could be a button on the keyboard to press to allow your current brush stroke to extend outside of the premade shape, and maybe each shape could even have it's own set of 'layers.'
