My Thoughts On Life Is Strange 2
Okay so after playing the game, and recovering from being emotionally drained, I thought I'd put my thoughts on this game.
But first, I want to give my thoughts on the first game and the prequel. Now I haven't played them, I bought the first game and recently started to play it, but I watched a playthrough of them back when the game first came out. FYI, I watched Jacksepticeye's playthrough of the game.
For the 1st game I liked it...until we got to episode 5. Idk it might be just me but in the LiS1 episode 5 felt very messy and rushed and hardly made sense. I heard they were gonna go for a completely different ending but for some reason they changed it and that was why episode 5 was delayed.
I thought the characters were alright but, I'm sorry, I'm not really a fan of Chloe. Idk I just didn't really like her that much, I found her more annoying than anything.
The voice acting all around was pretty good. Although the character models don't really express the emotions that's said through the voice acting but I think that's because this was, if I'm not mistaken, Dontnod's first game. I'd say the best voice actor/actress in that game was the woman who voiced Chloe cause she sounded like she was really getting in to the character and conveyed the emotions pretty well.
But overall, I would consider the 1st game as a guilty pleasure than anything as there are moments I like and my God the dialogue is cheesy as fuuuuuck. It's actually kinda hilarious, you can tell out of touch adults wrote it lol.
The prequel...well, you can tell it's not by the same people that did the first one. It felt very sloppy and it felt like they were just throwing shit at the wall and see if it sticks. The voice acting in that game was pretty bad, minus then ones that did Chloe and Rachel, everyone sounds so robotic that it's hilarious and I can't take it seriously.
And the ending of the prequel felt like it didn't really matter as no matter what Rachel was still gonna have a fallen out with her parents and do whatever and then get murdered by Jefferson. And then the part where you try to make up with David is an option in the game and that doesn't matter as Chloe and David still have a bad relationship in the original game.
And like I said, I'm not a fan of Chloe so that already was a negative for me when I heard about Before the Storm. And Rachel was a manipulative bitch.
The Captain Spirit one is where I really started to like this franchise alittle bit more and where I actually started to play the games. I mainly like Chris I thought he was adorable and I thought his story was heartbreaking. I just wanted to give the little boy a hug.
The story was short but it was sweet and it made you feel like a small kid with Chris's imagination. The ending when the dad blamed Chris for his mom's death was heartbreaking and made me want to punch the dad for saying that to a small boy.
And like everyone, I thought that the sequel was gonna focus on Chris. But turns out, we focus on the two neighbor boys you see at the end of the game.
And this leads us to Life is Strange 2. People will probably disagree with me, but I felt like this game was better than the first one. I feel more connected with these characters than any other characters in the franchise.
I guess since I'm also the eldest sibling in my family, I have a little brother and little sister, I understood Sean and his frustration and his love and his willingness to do anything for his younger brother. So I really connected with Sean. Now Daniel I thought was really adorable, some people complain that he was a brat but people do realize he is nine years old. Most kids do act bratty.
I also felt that the story for this season was much better and more coherent than the first game. Some people complained that the story was too simple and that there was no mystery, like the first game. But I didn't mind that, I like simple stories as long as it's told well.
I mean look at The Last of Us! That is a simple story but the way that it is told is what makes it amazing, plus the characters were written brilliantly.
Anyway back to Life is Strange 2, I absolutely adore the music in this game. It is beautiful, my favorites is the main theme for this season, the one that played at the end of episode 1 and the one that plays during the Lone Wolf and Blood Brothers ending. I don't know the names of them but if someone does, let me know please! Even some of the licensed music are good, I have a couple of them on my spotify playlist.
One thing I will say I didn't like was the waiting between each episode. I felt like the wait was way too long and I'm not sure why they did that but that's just a nitpick. There are some cheesy dialogue in this game but I would say it's not as bad as in the first game and the prequel. And I wished we got to see all the characters we meet in the previous 4 episodes in episode 5, like they came back and tried to stick up for the Diaz brothers from the cops.
I also think the characters were better written and more interesting in this game as well. And the villians, like Lizbeth, were better than the original game. Also this game made me feel bad for David, I used to hate him in the original game but this one made me feel kinda bad for him. In my game Arcadia Bay was saved and Chloe was dead.
I even liked the different locations we went to throughout the game, each location was so beautiful, made me wish that I had the money and travel to those locations.
The voice acting in this game was also better especially the boys that do Sean and Daniel. They made you feel like they were really brothers and that they loved each other.
All in all, I gotta say this game is one of my favorite games of all time and I enjoyed it more than the first game. Now I know I didn't address the whole racism portrayal in the game but that's because I'm not a good person to talk about it as I am not a person of color and I haven't seen, in person that is, of anyone acting like it. But I do think it is possible for some people, that are racist, can act like that as I've seen videos, like that one old lady freaking out on that Hispanic lady ar a Walmart.
I live in a small town in the South of the USA and here alot of people are respectful and nice to each other, no matter the color of your skin. The closest thing to a racist thing I saw was from my ex-husband when he expressed his views on white people shouldn't date or marry people of color. I told him that was stupid of him thinking that but..he wouldn't listen to me.
Anyway, what did you guys think? What are your thoughts on this franchise or this game in particular? Did you enjoy it? Did you not like it? And if you played all 5 episodes, what ending did you get?
I got the Parting Ways ending, if you couldn't guess since that's how I ended my fan fic.
