A Light in the Depths (au)
Hk au kinda drabble?
------------------------------
A scream from the depths.
It was really no use, she'd been at it for centuries. No doubt the False King had told off her screams, if heard at all from how deep underwater she was, as a figment of the mortals' imaginations, or as some other large mythical beast that would swallow them whole should they search for it.
Of course, those would be quite far from the truth. No one would expect a Phoenix, much less their Queen, to be trapped on the ocean floor. Why in the name of mythics, she doubted anyone believed Phoenixes ever existed to begin with! Wiped clean from history. All by a sea serpent who was jealous of the kingdom her family had taken a millennia to construct, to uphold. All of that gone because of a poor choice, a lack of self-control. The Queen called out once again. Surely there would be at least one Phoenix left that wasn't him, there had to be!
...
Nothing.
Of course there was nothing. They'd have to be next to the ocean to hear her, and who knows if there's any but her brother left? The Queen sighed, slumping to the floor. To curse or to bless..? Of course...she had nothing to lose if she cursed the kingdom the serpents stole from her...but no. She wouldn't. The kingdom mattered naught to the False one, only the blessing she could provide. He could threaten the other mythics, those her bond was strong with, and tarnish the name of the Phoenixes forever...
The Queen sat in silence, her once Radiant glow now only a dim glow from outside the cave she was encaged. The one guarding her "cell" was not much of a talker, were they?
It matters naught. Her kingdom is gone.
...
But...maybe she could find a way out. Somehow.
And her little "guard" might just be her key to freedom. To revenge.
