Five nights at Freddy's
It looked like an interesting job at first. They just needed a night guard, simple.
"Why'd you drag me into this Min?" Phil complained as we walked to the front doors of the place. I rolled my eyes and unlocked the door.
"Because you need a job and so do I. Trust me, it'll be an easy job" I answered walking in. Phil groaned and followed.
"I had a job" he complained.
"Yea, one that doesn't pay the bills though" I smirked "an if you're going to be living with me, you need to be able to help pay the bills" he sighed.
It wasn't tricky finding the guard station. It was right inside the doors. The room was small with a desk taking up one wall with a filing cabinet next to it almost blocking one door. Old greasy looking posters hung on the wall overlooking the desk and to be honest, they game me the creeps. Phil didn't seem to be doing much better.
"Min, I don't like the looks of this place. Maybe we should just-" he jumped interrupted as the phone rang. I had jumped a bit to at the sudden noise but was able to hide it better. The phone rang again and I picked it up.
"Hello? Oh! Hello!" A questioning voice on the other end said. Confused for a moment, I stayed silent. Phil stood behind me listening with a periodical glance I've his shoulder at the two doors behind us.
"Um, I wanted to record a message for you. to help you get settled in on your first night. Um, I actually worked in that office before you. I'm finishing up my last week now as a matter of fact." The message relayed. I put it on speaker to let Phil listen too.
"So I know it can be a bit overwhelming, but I'm here to tell you: there's nothing to worry about. Uh, you'll do fine, so let's just focus on getting you through your first week, okay?"
Phil snorted "yea, lets not get killed" He had said it jokingly. If only we knew.
"Uh, let's see... First there's an introductory greeting from the company that I'm supposed to read, eh, it's kind of a legal thing. You know. Um... " There was a sound of rustling papers as the reader cleared his through slightly.
"Welcome to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a magical place for kids and grown-ups alike, where fantasy and fun come to life. Fazbear Entertainment is not responsible for damage to property or person. Upon discovering that damage or death has occurred, a missing persons report will be filed within 90 days or as soon as property and premises have been thoroughly cleaned and bleached, and the carpets have been replaced-" all color drained from my face. Phil stood stiff beside me.
"Blah, blah, blah. Now that might sound bad, I know, but there's really nothing to worry about.
Uh, the animatronic characters here do get a bit quirky at night, but do I blame them? No! If I were forced to sing those same stupid songs for 20 years, and I never got a bath? I'd probably be a bit irritable at night too.
So remember: these characters hold a special place in the hearts of children, and we need to show them a little respect, right? Okay."
"I regret ever trusting you" Phil said suddenly making me just. I turned my head to look at him and the look on his face- it's just to hard to describe. Almost a mix of hatred, terror and a little panic. I couldn't blame him though, we hadn't known the risks. Like the guy said, they didn't tell us that when we signed up.
"So just be aware; the characters do tend to wander a bit. Uh, they're left in some kind of "free-roaming" mode at night, uhh, something about their servos locking up if they get turned off for too long. Uhh, they used to be able to walk around during the day, too, but then there was "the Bite of '87." Yeah. It's amazing that the human body can live without the frontal lobe, you know?
Uh, now concerning your safety: the only real risk to you as a night watchman here, if any, is the fact that these characters, uh, if they happen to see you after hours, probably won't recognize you as a person. They'll - They'll most likely see you as a metal endoskeleton without its costume on. Now, since that's against the rules here at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza they'll probably try to uh... forcefully stuff you inside a Freddy Fazbear suit."
More color drained. I looked down and my hand was shaking. I stilled it quickly even if there wasn't anyone around to notice.
"Um, now that wouldn't be so bad if the suits themselves weren't filled with cross-beams, wiring, and animatronic devices, especially around the facial area, so you can imagine how having your head forcefully pressed inside one of those could cause a bit of... discomfort... and death... Uh, the only parts of you that would likely see the light of day again would be your eyeballs and teeth that would pop out the front of the mask. Yeah, they don't tell you these things when you sign up.
But hey; first day should be a breeze. I'll chat with you tomorrow, uh, check those cameras, and remember to close the doors only if absolutely necessary. Gotta conserve power.Alright. Good night." And the phone went dead.
"I quit" Phil said turning towards the door. I whipped around to face him
"We can't quit, remember? We're on a contract" I said even if my own thoughts were thinking that "besides, it's probably an initiation type deal. I mean, they're just robots and they're turned off. There's no way they can roam around on there own" I tried for the benefit of the doubt. It worked.
He sighed "okay, okay. You're probably right, they're probably just trying to scare us to see how long we'll last" he shrugged but still seemed nervous.
"I bet we'll last the week" I did defiantly starting to feel slightly more at ease. "Easily too"
Phil snorted. "yea right, I bet you'll only last tonight" he said jokingly.
"It's on" I smirked and held out my hand "whoever lasts the longest gets to do whatever they want for the next month and the other cant object"
"Anything?" Phil smirked. I noticed a glint in his eyes but ignored it. He got scared way to easy to beat me.
"Anything" I nodded. he smirked and shook on it.
"Deal"
One look at the clock would have told us it was already 3 am but we were too busy thinking about what tortures we could get away with once we won. It didn't occur to us that we should have been checking the cameras.
I was snapped out of my thoughts by the sound of foot steps coming towards the guard door.
"Hey Phil. have you been checking the cameras?" I asked looking over at him on the computer. He shook his head staring at the screen.
"No, just watching something" he shrugged. I groaned.
"Phil! That's only for the cameras!"i sighed "could you please take a quick look around with them then?" I asked calming. He shrugged.
"Sure why not" he clicked out of a few things before looking at the cameras. his face fell almost immediately "there's a problem"
I sat up "what type of problem?" I asked getting worried
"Te ducks gone" he said and clicked the other cameras before finally breathing a sigh of relief "it's in the kitchen area" he chuckled "they must really be trying t get us"
I nodded letting out a relieved laugh. "yea, we're not going to let them scare us that easy though" I smiled. he nodded and liked through the cameras again "they moved the rabbit too. It's in the middle of the tables"
"How hard are they going to try and scare us?" I shook my head "hey, how much power do we have left?" I asked remembering the warning. Phil shrugged and looked at the bottom of the screen.
"About-" he stopped and looked up "what time is it?"
I looked up at the clock "almost 4. Why? How much power do we have left?"
"27%" he answered. I groaned inwardly l.
"He warned us not to use it all up Phil! what were you doing on there?" I asked feeling worry start to creep up again. he shrugged.
"I was just texting Bianca is all. She was wondering how the job was" he shrugged "that's all"
"For an hour?" I raised an eyebrow questioningly. he shrugged again
"We were talking about other things too" he said. I shook my head
"Just watch the cameras" I said. the footsteps came back again as I looked towards the doors. I had a sinking feeling and turned on the lights. I almost screamed when the figure was light up and instantly hit the door button. It closed with a sealing hiss. The light was still on silhouetting the duck outside through the window. Phil looked up eyes wide.
"What was that?!" he asked startled.
"I don't think it's the other employees Phil" I said backing away from the door. he rolled his eyes.
"Of course it is Min. Honestly, who else would it be? The animatronics themselves?" He snorted at the thought. I shook my head yes.
"Yea, I think it is" I looked back at him. He had his back to the other door. The darkness beyond him was terrifying. I quickly walked over ad shined the light on. nothing there yet.
"Min, calm down. you're just being paranoid" his tone wasn't reassuring. I looked over his shoulder to seethe cameras. He kept switching between them when something caught my eye.
"Stop!" I said and pointed to the screen "where's the bear?"
"I don't know" he said. he started to switch to another camera when the screen went black. my heart jumped to
My throat as the rest of the lights went out on after another and everything went quiet. the door I had shut slid open and two glowing robotic eyes stared at us.
Phil's eyes glowed a slight green in the dark but nothing as powerful as the ones staring at us through the doorway. Then, an eire song started playing. it sounded like one you'd hear coming from a crank box at the carnival but the sound came from the bear instead. We sat paralyzed as the song went on then stopped. time seemed to stretch agonizingly long as we waited for whatever was going to happen, happen.
Then, from somewhere in the restaurant, the sound of a clock rang. once, twice. I couldn't help but count them in my head. The thing in front of my stopped to listen too. after the sixth toll of the bell it went silent again. And again we waited.
The robotic bear turned and walked back down the hall away from us and I let out the breath I didn't realize I was holding. I looked over at Phil with a smile. I couldn't believe it.
He looked at me slightly horrified. then sighed in relief and smiled slightly "saved by the bell" he smirked. I laughed and we headed out.
"I am so not coming back tomorrow" he said as we passed the sign by the door saying 'come back again!' with the creepy characters on it. I laughed.
"You got that right" I followed him out "but- we're on a contract. We have to" my smile fell and we walked on in silence.
