[9] Ruled Above Them All | poem
Lightning shook the floor as he stumbled down the hall.
The chandeliers above rattled, dripping with hot wax as he avoided them all.
Back in his house, which he once called home.
But now he strays and walks alone.
When he shared the most treasured memories,
For his family was once treasure did he,
where his childhood grew and where he learned and played.
At least before they scorned him away.
When they found the monster they tried to tame.
For the halls still looked the same,
only now covered in a thin layer of dust that the house maids forgot to sweep.
Because they were dead beneath his feet.
The village burned to ashes as he smiled in the empty halls.
Because for once, he ruled above them all.
