A reason is to think, understand, and form judgments by a process of logic, and our emotions can easily manipulate our perception of a dimension, which can cause our imagination to run free. As a result, imagination could easily cloud one's judgment. The story "The Fall of the House of Usher" by Edgar Allan Poe is one of the good examples of imagination or clouded perception. After finishing the description of the house, the narrator then continues on to talk about, "There was an iciness, a sinking, a sickening of the heart--an unredeemed dreariness of thought which no goading of the imagination could torture into aught of the sublime. (Poe 14)" The narrator believed no matter how hard he tried reasoning with himself that the feeling he had wasn't real, which was his imagination, he still had a sinking feeling. His imagination was getting the best of him, his judgment was also clouded because of the overwhelming emotions the narrator had felt in those moments.. Roderick Usher preceded to talk on about Madeline and himself saying," Have i not heard her footsteps on the stair? Do i not distinguish that heavy and horrible beating of her heart? Madman!"--here he sprang furiously to his feet, and shrieked out his syllables as if in the effort he were giving up his soul--"Madman! I tell you that she now stands without the door! (Poe 30)" Roderick Usher had thought originally that his sister was dead but later heard noises of his sister banging against her tomb. Usher was overwhelmed with fear so he didn't check the tomb of his twin sister Madeline. His imagination got the best of him later on but this lead to his demise as the house of Usher fell down. Therefore, imagination can cloud one's perception of reason. "The House Taken Over" by Julio Cortázar is another example of imagination overcoming reason. After putting the water up for the mate the narrator then hears, "The sound came through muted and indistinct, a chair being knocked over into the carpet or the muffled buzzing of a conversation...I hurled myself against the door before it was too late and shut it with the weight of my body; luckily, the key was on our side; moreover, i ran the great bolt into place, just to be safe. (Cortázar 40)" Instead of investigating the area where the noises were coming from the narrator decides to close and lock the doors and run off to his sister and tell her they've taken over the house. So they never actually find it something or someone has taken over their house, it could just be their imagination. Trying to get a glass of water the narrator then hers, "You could hear the noises, still muffled but louder, just behind us. I slammed the grating and we stopped in the vestibule. Now there was nothing to be heard. "They've taken over our section."(Cortázar 41)" They're just assuming "they've" taken over the house, not once do they check out the area. Normally you would investigate that area well if you're reasonable. As a result, the house taken over is another example of imagination can overcome reason. The last example of imagination overcoming reason is from, "Infographic" by Adam Frost and Zhenia Vasiliev. "Built in the gothic period, in a poor state of repair, in the middle of nowhere, haunted/cursed, has a forbidden wing and/or secret passage, and has reclusive and/or sinister owner. (Frost & Vasiliev 51)" In gothic literature stories the settings of those stories are eerie and creepy normally in remote places has forbidden rooms and sinister owner. "Wind, storm, thunder, rain, fog, snow, lightning, mist, sunny.(Frost & Vasiliev 53)" In a lot of gothic literature stories, the weather is terrible like storms, wind, rain...etc there rarely ever sunny due to the .

Sometimes imagination can overcome reason. Which emotions can play a big part in your imagination's or delusions. An example of this is sleep paralysis, which is when your mind is not fully conscious and your body can't move basically your nightmares become reality like.
