The Hero and the Witch's Apprentice

Thunder roared in the distance, dark gray clouds enveloping the sky, blocking out the sun. The faint sound of raindrops falling to ground one by one piercing through the silence of the wood. No one dared to be outside during the weather, should they fall victim to the burning droplets that befell the land. Barely blocked by the canopy above.

None except a lone figure who slowly sauntered under the cover of the towering trees. Wincing in pain with every step he took with his dirty green hair covering his face. Barely about to get from tree to tree as he clutched his side, the brush beside being stained red. Crimson flowing from his form as he tried to navigate his surroundings with blurry vision.

'Where am I? What happened?' He questioned, unable to make out his location. Desperately clinging to a tree to keep himself from falling. Gravity pulled down on him harder and harder with every second that passed.

'Is this......Is this it? Is this where I die?' He thought, his legs falling weak and his body surrendering itself. Falling to the ground and leaning against the tree. The boiling droplets surging his body with pain are the only thing keeping him awake.

'Mom...' His mind raced towards the image of his mother as he looked upon his broken and tattered suit. Reminiscing about the day she made his very first hero costume for him.

'Ochako...' The brunette that saved his life on that fateful day. Her smile that sent his heart a flutter etched in his mind. The face of his first real friend in over a decade stained with tears as he was lost to her.

'Eri...' The small unicorn child he had rescued. The child that soon became his daughter, his little snowball. The person he needed to smile for no matter what happened.

'Everyone...' Pained tears running down his face as the looks of his classmates, his friends, crept into what could have been his final moments. The things they did together, the fun they had.

Those days when they practiced day and night for their performance at the festival, the same one that helped Eri remember how to smile. The group study sessions that left the idiot duo, Mina and Kaminari, practically paralyzed. All those times he had to smack Mineta around for perving on the girls. His most treasured moments of his life, but now it's gone.

There he layed, dying beside a tree. Unable to move or utter a single word. Everything was starting to get dark. He was feeling cold. He couldn't feel the rain anymore. Everything was becoming silent. He was tired. He was too tired to keep his eyes open.

"P-please...s-someone.....a-anyone...." He muttered out quietly, the world around him fading away into nothingness. "H-help m-me..."

The struggle of keeping his eyes open soon came to an end. Taking in whatever sight they could see before they started to close for the last time. A strange sight caught them right as they shut. A flash of red and gray appeared as his world grew black.

"Hang on kid!"

~Time Skip~

Lights glared at his vision as his eyes fluttered open. His senses slowly returned to him as he awoke. Muffled voices catching his attention, carefully trying to move so he could look for its source. Soon being met with the sight of a young girl, probably about his age, sitting on the ground with a silly "focused" expression. A second individual he saw her talking to was a small black......dog? With an exposed horned skull?

"And that is why you must never trust Smoochie Pie the Sweetie Baby with a pair of scissors within fifty feet of them." The small creature explained, holding up a crudely drawn picture of a fish?

"I knew there was something wrong with that name?!" The girl shouted, pointing an accusatory finger at the picture. "Shame on you Smoochie Pie the Sweetie Baby! Shame on you!"

"If you think he's bad just wait until I tell you about Tiny Kitten Kisses. She will haunt your every dream!" The dog shouted, holding up another drawing. This being of a small cat with stubby legs and long whiskers.

Izuku, being confused as heck without any context, much like some of the readers, simply just layed there on the couch watching them. Though, he could help but crack a small smile as he watched the excitable girl. Her happy go lucky demeanor and friendly aura reminded him of his best friend. Deciding that he didn't want to break their concentration, he opted to just sit back and relax a bit more.

That is until he was met face to face with what was quite possibly the most frightening thing he had ever seen. Scarier than any nomu he had faced. More terrifying than any villain he had fought. Stain, Muscular, Overhaul, not even All For One could shake him down to his very soul like this being did.

Its soulless eyes peered deep into his soul. It's round face that loomed over him ever so slightly with an unsettling smile. A long slender serpent like body that coiled around the room silently, not letting the two know it was there.

"Hoot! Hoot! Hello new friend!" Its horrid voice reached his ears. It was then that he finally could make his response to such a thing.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

He screamed, alerting the two others who screamed in shock. Holding onto each other in their fright. Izuku fell off the couch where their eyes met for a moment before they continued to scream again. Eventually they all managed to calm down, leaving them all out of breath.

"Are you guys okay? You've been screaming for like five minutes." The bird thing questioned looking over the three.

"Hooty! Why did you scare him?! Eda said he needed rest! You dingus!" The girl chastised the now name Hooty.

"Yeah! And you!" The small dog aimed a paw at him, stamping his feet in rage. "You interrupted my lesson! Know your place! Fear me! For I am the King of Demons!"

"Oh~ Look at him stamp his whittle foots!~" The girl squealed, watching as the little beast continued to stomp angrily. "So cute! I think I'm gonna pass out!"

Izuku let out a small chuckle as he tried to stand himself up. Barely able to keep himself up on his feet before falling back on the ground. The girl quickly rushed to his side and helped him stand up. Getting him back to the couch when Hooty appears next to him with a glass of water on his head.

"Here you go. Hoot!" He said as Izuku took the cup gratefully.

"Thanks." Izuku let out a sigh as he drank.

"We were getting worried there for a bit. You were in some pretty rough shape when Eda brought you in." The girl said, taking his empty glass. Which was then eaten by Hooty.

"Who?"

"Eda the Owl Lady? Most wanted witch on the Boiling Isles?" The dog spoke confusedly. "Her wanted poster is literally right above you."

"The what isles?"

"Wait a second." The dog thing got onto his lap and started fiddling with his hair. "Oh! That explains it! You're human! Look at those round ears!" He laughed as he played the little flaps.

"King, that's rude!" The girl gasped as she swatted his paws away.

"C'mon Luz!" King whined, before Luz grabbed him by the fur of his neck and picked him up. "Mommy?"

"Sorry about him. It's still a surprise though." Luz scratched her chin curiously as she put King down, who only just got back up on the couch. "Last I heard there's only one portal between the human and demon realms and we have it. How did you get here?"

"I...I don't know." Izuku looked down, clutching at his side as he tried to remember what happened. "There was....fire and screaming....everything went black......and I woke up in the woods. It started raining and.....I don't know." He breathed heavily, leaning back into the couch.

"Hey, hey, hey. It's gonna be fine." Luz said, gently patting his shoulder with a smile. "We can get Eda when she wakes up and we can get you to the human realm. Though, I doubt you live in Connecticut, do you?"

"No, I'm from Japan." Izuku raised an eyebrow curiously. "Why Connecticut specifically?"

"No clue, just that the portal opens to an old cabin in the woods. And yes that is kinda creepy at times."

"And considering I have no money I can't get to Mustafu without being arrested for Illegal quirk usage." Izuku muttered to himself under his breath.

'Quirk? Mustafu? What is he talking about?' She thought confusedly. 'I feel like I've heard those somewhere.' "Well I'm sure you'll figure something out. For now just get some rest and we'll help you out if you need anything." Luz suddenly gasped in excitement, freaking him out a bit. "I can even put King in a little nurse's outfit!"

"Weh?!"

"I doubt anyone wants to see that Luz."

"I do." She said, looking down at the fuzzball almost desperately.

"A-anyway..." He coughed into his hand, eager to change the subject. "So this Eda the Owl Lady helped me?"

"Oh, yeah!" Luz brightened up at the mention. "Eda found you in the woods before Boiling Rain got to ya! Pretty lucky cause if you stayed out there you would've been boiled alive." She said almost too casually.

"Yeah, we get a lot of plagues here. Just make sure to stay inside when the rain stops since Painbows typically occur." King says as he picks up his little doodle book. "Don't need someone getting turned inside out around here."

"Where is Eda? I want to thank her for saving me."

"She's sleeping in her nest right now. After healing you and putting up the barrier to protect the house she needed a good long nap." Luz chuckled a bit nervously.

"Especially after you made her cast that light spell ten times when she was already tired."

"I just really wanted to learn the spell! C'mon, I'm her apprentice and that's the first spell she taught me in the month I've been here!" She sighed, pulling out her phone and playing a video of a very tired looking woman drawing a glowing circle in the air.

"Don't worry Luz, you'll get it eventually. Or not. Then you can study demons with me!" King said as he jumped up into her lap. "Speaking of, we need to cover the basics of the Snaggleback! With the Boiling Rain it's only a matter of time before one finds our house and tries to attack."

"King! You can just say that!" Izuku yelled out with a glare aimed at the now shivering beast. "You need to encourage her and try your best to help her. If being a witch is her dream then you try and help her. Sure she might not be able to be a conventional witch but she can be her own witch in her own witchy Luz way."

"Aw~ Thank you." Luz hugged the boy happily, making Izuku's face bright red at the sudden gesture.

"N-no p-problem." He stuttered out, gently patting her shoulder. Soon the two separated, allowing for him to breath in a calming breath. "I'm sure you'll figure it out. I mean, if I can learn how to control a quirk that shatters my bones, then you have a sure fire chance at learning a simple light spell." He chuckled.

"Yeah, simple. Yet all she does is draw a circle in the air to do it while being hella cryptic." Luz said as she copied the motion. "Meanwhile, I, a human, with no magical sack to suck power off of!"

"Magical....sack?"

"According to Eda, witches on the Boiling Isles have a magical bile sack attached to their hearts that supplies them with power to use they're spells." Luz explained, pulling out a diagram of the oddity.

"Didn't Eda say you couldn't have that?"

"Well yeah, but she didn't say I couldn't steal it."

"Fair enough."

"Eda also said that witches in the olden days had a different way of doing things, but the methods have been lost to time." Luz slumps down dejectedly, looking over her phone with a disappointed expression. "What am I going to do? I came here so I could find a way to actually be myself. I want to be able to say "I'm somebody" in a place where I could actually fit in."

"Are you okay, Luz?" Izuku asked the saddened girl.

"Maybe I'm just not cut out for this. I should've just gone to that stupid summer camp and learned to be normal."

"Bullshit!" Izuku yelled out, pulling the girl out of her stupor. "You can't just give up like that! So what if you're at a disadvantage? So what if you don't have some kind of magic witch sack? You can't just give up! And normal?! What the heck is normal?! You shouldn't conform to whatever others think you should be! If I had listened to what others told me I would be in the ground before I was ten! And yet here I am doing what they couldn't!

"You said that witches had an old way of doing things. Just because something is lost doesn't mean it can't be found again! Humans can do the impossible! We were born without wings and yet we flew to the moon! Born without gills or fins yet we traverse the seas! So chin up and don't give up! I know you can figure this out!"

Silence ensued as Luz just stared at the boy with widened eyes. Slowly, a smile grew on her face as small tears began to build in her eyes. Izuku's eyes widened in panic, frantically trying to apologize. But before he could, Luz tackled him off the couch and onto the ground.

'My ribs.' He wheezed in pain as the girl hugged him tightly.

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" She cried happily into his chest. "¡Hermoso alma amable! ¡Haré lo mejor que pueda, mi héroe!"

"¡No hay problema! Estoy contento de poder ayudar." Izuku sighed as she got off of him.

"Sorry! I switch to Spanish sometimes when I get excited." Luz chuckled nervously as she tried to help him back up.

"That's fine. I'm actually glad to be able to use it honestly. Never thought that I'd need it in another world but I guess you never know."

"It's just, no one has ever said that to me!" Luz whipped away her joyful tears. "My whole life I've been nothing but a weirdo people avoided! Mamá and Papá were the only ones who ever supported my creativity but no one else! It's been so long since I've had actual human friends!"

"Really? Who wouldn't want to be friends with you? You're really nice and fun to be around. I can tell that just from a few minutes of your company." His words cause Luz to redden with a blush.

"W-well you seem like a great friend, too." She smiled softly, making it Izuku's turn to blush lightly in embarrassment.

"You two are being so sweet right now it's giving me a toothache." King said, having reminded them of his presence in the room. "Anyway, while the two of you were busy flirting...."

"KING!?!?!" The two shouted with mild blushes.

"I've been brainstorming on ways to help Luz with her spell."

"Really!?" Luz asked with hope filled eyes. "Oh my gosh! You're a prince among pups!" she yelled happily as she picked him up into a hug.

"Its King, Luz. I am King." He sighed as she put him. "Every day I see Eda taking quick shots of a glowing potion. I'm not sure why but every time she does she has a boost of energy. I'm thinking that's where she gets her power."

"But wouldn't that mean ALL witches would need potions to use magic?" Izuku questions, getting the two of them to look at him. "It's just that if that was the case, why would witches have bile sacks?"

"Oh, how would you know?" King asked, stomping his foot.

"It's sort of like Darwin's theory of evolution. Animals develop mutations that help them thrive in their environment, so in theory the bile sacks were a mutation that helped witches use magic. I guess?"

"I think you might be onto something." Luz seemed to ponder for a minute. "I think Eda mentioned at one point that magic was a gift from the Great Titan, a great beast that had died and whose body became the Boiling Isles."

"And the magic from its body helped create the ecosystem and affect life on the isles. And over time the people started being able to harness that power into what is the magic used today." Izuku muttered out loud. "But that is all just a theory."

"Yeah okay, that makes sense." King relented with a sigh. "How about we take a break then? Let's get some food." He said as he marched out of the room.

"Food sounds good actually." Izuku chuckled, feeling his stomach rumble at the thought of sustenance.

"Okay, but be warned. Some of the food here is a bit....interesting." Luz let out a nervous laugh. "You think you can make it to the kitchen?"

"I should manage." He said as he started to get up. Wobbling a bit with each step. "Maybe not."

"I got you." Luz smiled as she wrapped his arm over her shoulder. Only for her to nearly fall over trying to carry. 'Oh god he's heavy!'

"You know what, I'll just stay here." Izuku said as he hobbled back to the couch.

"Okay. I'll be right back though! So don't you move mister..." Luz said as started to leave before stopping. "You know, I never got your name."

"It's Izuku, Izuku Midoriya." He gave the girl a soft smile. "But you can call me Deku if you want."

'Weird, that name sounds familiar.' "Izuku, huh? Sounds pretty cute." She smiled with a wink as his face turned red.

He couldn't help but smile when he heard her laugh, waving her off as she left the room. Leaving him all by his lonesome. All alone with nothing but his thoughts to keep him company until their return. And that, my dear readers, is a HUGE mistake.

'Did you forget to text Eri goodnight? Was the medicine cabinet unlocked? Is Kacchan trying to get with Uraraka just to spite you? Are you stuck here? WILL YOU DIE ALONE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!' "Well, that was a bad idea." He sighed as he tried to focus on something else.

Suddenly, a loud crash of thunder shook him out of his trance. The lamps in the room begin to flicker before shutting off. The only sound to be heard was of the rain pelting the house. But something else caught his eye. A faint shadow rushing past the window. Gulping down nervously, he looked around for any signs of the thing. A strange sound echoing in the distance.

'I won't be able to use One For All while I'm this injured.' Izuku thought, frantically trying to get up from his seat.

"HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!" The voice of Hooty howling in fright met his ears. A loud crash being heard on the other end of the door. He quickly hid himself behind the couch, just in time to see the door being slammed off its hinges. Hooty's eyes closed in his slashed wooden body.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"LUZ! KING!" Izuu yelled as he saw the duo enter the room. The creature fled from the scene once it saw them.

"Hooty!" Luz yelled as she dashed over to the fallen door demon thing. "Hooty! Are you okay!? Are you in there?!"

"What the heck was that thing?!" Izuku yelled as he got up from his hiding spot.

"I don't know, but whatever it was escaped into the rain! What could survive out there?"

"Oh, no! The Snaggleback!" King yelled in shock. "It feeds during the rains! It must have come across our house and saw us inside!"

A monstrous howl caught their attention as the shadow clad creature flew through the air above them. Diving into a window in the upstairs bedroom. Luz's eyes widen in fear as she hears the sounds grow silent.

"This is horrible!" She gasped before looking down at her fluffy animal sidekick. "So why are you so happy?"

"This is perfect!" King chuckled excitedly. "With that thing in our house we can get an on hand demonstration with an up close demon!"

"In what world is that a good idea?!" Izuku yelled, leaning against a wall for support.

"Are you crazy?! You want us to go TOWARDS those freaky sounds?!" Luz picked up King and shook him in her grasp.

"Do we have a choice?! We can't leave for help and Eda is still up there! Helpless and unconscious because of your obsessed magic craving!"

"Kings right, Luz." Izuku said as he walked over to the two. "Right now we have only two options, hide or fight. But with your teacher up there we need to get rid of that thing."

Luz realized they were right. So she took in a deep breath and made her way into the house. Luz put on some gloves and ducked taped pillows to her frame. Grabbing hold of a hockey stick as King ran over and grabbed a stuffed animal with a "Weh!" of courage. Izuku had done the same as he used another hockey stick as a cane to help him walk.

The three slowly made their way up the stairs, Luz's phone barely illuminating the passage before them. The subtle tapping of Izuku's stick hitting the ground unnerving them slightly as they saw a door creak open. Steeling herself, Luz quickly dashed into the room.

"Eda?!" She cried, seeing the room destroyed and her teacher's nest empty. "Slash marks! King! You're the demon expert!"

"I'll get my book!" He said as he quickly ran out of the room. Leaving the two teens alone in the dimly lit room.

"This is all my fault!" Luz wailed, tears leaking from her eyes.

"Luz?" Izuku stepped near her, kicking away some shattered glass before taking a seat beside her.

"If I wasn't so persistent with learning that stupid light spell Eda wouldn't have been so weak! She could have defended herself against that thing!" She slammed her fist against the sticks of the nest. "I can't do anything right! Not here! Not home! Why am I so fucking useless!"

"Luz!" Izuku yelled, catching her off guard. "Don't you dare say something like that again!" Taking her hands in his, he looked her in the eyes with a steeled glare. "You are NOT useless! You can't blame yourself with this! You said that she was already tired from the barrier and healing me, even if you didn't try to get her to teach you a spell there's no guarantee she would've been able to fight that thing.

"This is not the time for pondering on 'what ifs'! She could still be alive so right now let's focus on saving your teacher. I don't know what I can do right now but I promise I will help as much as I can. So let's get this thing!"

"Right!" Luz smiled as she shook his hands determinedly. The moment was cut short as a familiar sound reached their ears. "Hide!" She whispered anxiously as she dragged the boy off into a closet. Tripping as she did so before they managed to get into the hiding spot.

"Wait wait! First edition or second?"

"King?!"

"Luz?" King shouted, dropping his books. "The Snaggleback!" The beastly sound echoed behind him, turning towards it with a rage filled glare. "Give me back my boo boo buddy!" He demanded as he ran after the sound.

"King no!!!" They screamed, exiting the closet. Loud crashing can be heard throughout the house. King's terrified cries echoing in the halls as the sounds grew louder.

"Get in here!" Izuku yelled as he pulled King inside from the hall, locking the door behind him.

"Luz?! Izuku?! I thought the monster got you!"

"No, we heard it coming so we hid in a closet. And tripped and lost my shoe." She chuckled in embarrassment. "Oh, hey! You found it!" She cheered as she took the shoe from the King.

"Wait a second?" King said, noticing something stuck to her foot. Quickly taking it off before she put her shoe on. "An elixir a day, keeps the curse at bay?" He read aloud, his eyes widening in realization.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"I was wrong the whole time! That thing is no Snaggleback! It's-!" A loud crash caught them off guard as a monstrous paw broke through the door. The three quickly moved away as the beast crashed into the room, revealing its menacing smile to them.

"EDA?!" Luz scurried back as her beastified teacher readied its talons. Her phone dropped from her pocket and activated a flash.

The sudden brightness had shocked her just enough for the three to flee from it. Hiding in a pit not far from it. The three quivering in fear as the beast loomed right above their heads. Luz carefully grabbed hold of a tin can nearby and threw it far away from. The noise caught her attention so that Eda would run after it.

"What the heck happened to her?!" Izuku screamed in shock.

"I don't know! And did you see her eyes?! They were BLEH!" Luz said as she spread her eyelids for emphasis.

"Don't you see?! The elixir doesn't give Eda powers! It keeps her from becoming THAT!!!" King's eyes began to tear up as he tried to roll himself into a ball of shame. "And now she turned into a monster and it's all my fault! I shouldn't have forced you to try the potion!"

"You did what now?!" Izuku yelled in confusion.

"I'm so sorry! I just wanted Luz to be into demons like she is with magic!" King true to wipe away his tears. "I don't have any friends and no one takes me seriously. I just wanted someone to actually talk to. I thought maybe if I could teach you about creatures like me someone could actually care about demons."

"King, it's okay." Izuku said, gently petting the small boy. "If the potion keeps her normal then there has to be a way to turn her back when she does turn. And you said it yourself, you're the King of Demons!"

"And who better to help us right now than the best demonology teacher in the Boiling Isles!" Luz smiled as she pulled up a pen, King perking up pointed at himself. Luz nodded as she handed him the pen.

"Okay. She was definitely bigger but still fairly light on her feet." King said as he started sketching on a few leaves. "And her eyes were big and black so that means she should be nocturnal. And that means she should be sensitive to light! LUZ! YOUR WONDER RECTANGLE!"

"I can't. My camera is busted from the fall."

"And I don't even know where my phone is." Izuku muttered, soon noting that he wasn't even in his hero costume. "So, wait, who changed me?" He asked, only to be promptly ignored by a slightly pink Luz.

"Then our only hope is the light spell."

"You saw me King! I can't draw a magic circle." She pouted as she slumped back, pulling up her phone that still had the video of her teacher. "I'm not like Eda."

"The *yawn* magi circle her is k-" The video playing on the cracked screen fizzled and stopped on a frame. She noticed something though. Something in the circle. "What?"

"What's up Luz?" Izuku asked, getting close to her. Looking over her shoulder at the frozen video.

"There's some kind of symbol on the circle." She said, taking a leaf and copying the symbol with her pen. She tapped the leaf, it glowed brightly as it scrunched up, forming a ball of light. Their eyes widened at the sight of it, joy filled her features as she stared at the light.

"Luz..." Izuku gasped, a wide smile on his face.

"I just did magic? I just did magic!" She cheered loudly before Izuku covered her mouth at the sound of a roar in the distance.

"Quiet!" King whispered as they fell to the ground. "We aren't gonna be able to stop anything with a light that small!"

"I think I have an idea." Izuku smirked looking over at the two. "You guys in?"

"What do you say boo boo buddy?" Luz looked over to King, ready for a fist bump.

"I'm sorta over that nickname." King pondered for a moment but he returned the fistbump happily. "But let's do this."

"Alright, so here's the plan."

Meanwhile, downstairs the monster Eda was skulking around the living room. Sniffing about the place for any sign for her desired prey. Her ears perked up at the sound of clicking. In the doorway, King stood with the pen in hand. The plastic jewel glowing in the dark.

"Oh? Would you look at this." He leaned on the frame calmly. "It's just so pretty and shiny. I bet you want this, huh?" He asked, watching as she stared at it in wonder.

She pounced after him, narrowly missing him as he started running away. Crashing into the walls as she chased him down the halls. Her vision became shrouded as a big red cloth was draped over her head. Slashing it to shreds she looked up with a snarl as Luz and Izuku were standing by a wall. With the glyph of light is almost completed.

"Sorry Eda! But this is for your own good!" Luz yelled as the circle was completed. She slammed on it, causing it to glow. Escalating it into a blinding light, Eda screeching in pain and horror.

~Some Time Later~

Eda woke up in her nest startled, sitting up scratching at her neck. Gasping as the feeling of feathers on her body. Noticing a straw in her mouth that led to a bottle of her glowing golden anti-curse juice. She quickly drank it more as the jewel on her chest turned from black to gold.

"I was looking for that." She sighed before she leaned over the side of her neck. "Sheesh! I have the worst hangover right now. And why does my taste like roadkill." She leaned over the edge and started hacking up. Leaving a pellet on the floor that crack open, revealing some kind of pink monkey thing.

"I'm just gonna lie here for a bit." The clearly mentally scarred thing said as it closed its eyes.

"Lucky we managed to find a spare elixir for ya." King chuckled as he walked over to her side.

"King? King?! KING!!!" She yelled, baring her fang towards him. "You stole my elixir?! I swear to Titan I will throw you into a pie!" She was shushed by King who pointed over to the other end of the room.

Luz was on the floor with her pen and notepad, completely focused as kept drawing more glyphs to conjure more light orbs. Izuku sitting off to the side with a smile, watching her get one step closer to her dream. Eda's eyes widened in surprise, but she couldn't help but smile proudly at her student.

"Well I'll be. A human doing magic." Eda chuckled, Luz hearing quickly rushed over to her with Izuku following behind her with his cane.

"Eda!" She cried giving her a hug. "I'm so glad you're okay!"

"Same to you kiddo. And look! You figured out your own special magic!" Eda laughed, patting her on the back. Her attention is drawn to izuku who simply smiles down at them. "And it's good to see you up and about, Green. Sorry for the crude treatment. Healing magic was never my forte."

"It's fine, ma'am. I've been through a lot worse." Izuku awkwardly laughed, which the others simply just stared at him for. "So, you're cursed?"

"Yeah, it just happened one day. No clue how or why, but that's why I'm called 'The Owl Lady'." She sighed, finishing off her elixir. "It's been rough but with the right steps and such, a curse can be bearable. So long as I take my elixir, King, I'm fine. Nothing to worry about."

"Are you sure? Have you been researching ways to get rid of it? There's gotta be a way!" Luz stated worriedly.

"What do you think I did when I first got it? I spent years searching through all sorts of archives and books. Nothing on my curse let alone how to remove it. It's been thirty years and after a while I just gave up."

"Hoot! Hoot! Hoot!" They heard a cry, King sighing with annoyance. "Somebody help! I'm on the floor! It's cold!"

"I'll go get him. You just rest up Eda." Luz said as she started to leave. "You too, Izuku! My mom is a nurse so I can tell you in pain when you walk!" She yelled as she left the room.

"What a girl, am I right?" Eda chuckled with Izuku following after. "So when you said you've been through worse, what did you mean?"

"Oh, nothing much. Just training with my quirk and.....other stuff." He shifted a bit uncomfortable. "So you have a portal?"

"Yeha, I found it when I was a kid not that long after I was cursed. Had to spend some time in the human realm, some of the locals weren't all that friendly." She joked with a mild chuckle. "Don't worry, I'll send you home when you get all healed up."

"About that, I wanted to ask you some things." Izuku looked down, sighing as he just fell on his back. "But let's just sleep. I'm tired."

"Way ahead of ya Green!" Eda said as she immediately passed out.

Izuku simply chuckled as he laid down. Pulling out his phone that Luz managed to find for him. He scrolled through some of his pictures, noting that he unsurprisingly had to service or wifi. He came across one that made his heart ache. One of him and his closest friends and his daughter Eri on his shoulders.

'I swear guys, I'll make it back to you. No matter how long it takes.' He looked at it with determination. 'I mean, it's just inter-dimensional travel. How hard can it be?'
