What subjects are likely to make your character hesitate, flush, stumble on their words, etc.?

Hesitate: Kai tends to be reluctant when he talks about himself or his well-being, which is something I kind of do too. He doesn't really like to talk about himself, because he doesn't really know how to answer the questions most of the time. Like if people ask him if he's okay, if he doesn't reply with "I'm fine", he hesitates. MY SAD BOI-

Flush: When someone teases him about something embarrassing he's done in the past, or coos about how cute he and Abby are. He gets embarrassed very easily when someone does something like that, and he'll never be able to get it out of his head even after the moment is over XD.

Stumble over his words: He usually stumbles over his words when he's really anxious, afraid, or just completely out of it (aka, when he's sick.). If he's having trouble speaking coherently, it probably means he's anxious or scared (unless you know he's sick). He stutters more over syllables when he's afraid, so it's kind of easy to tell when he's nervous or anxious and frantic. 

How has this character's personality changed from childhood to adulthood?

Though Kai has more or less always been a quiet kid, his personality has changed from quiet and adorable, kind and loving, reserved yet approachable and silly, to quiet and still, reserved and awkward, kind and compassionate, but also anxious a lot and sometimes too quiet. Because of the many things that have happened to him since he was ten, he hasn't really had much of a chance to become the standard adult. But, he's still a sweet, caring person. 

Does this character express affection? Are they comfortable doing so?

Kai does express affection for his family, but when it comes to showing his love for Abby, he usually doesn't do it in front of people because he gets embarrassed easily. Thankfully, Abby isn't insulted by this, and she even teases him by showing her affections in front of everyone else. When it comes to family, Kai shows his care for them usually by words and/or hugs. 

He isn't particularly uncomfortable about it, but he doesn't usually do those things in front of a crowd because he's quick to think that people are judging him or watching his every move when they're really not. 

When frightened, will the character "fight" or "flight"?

Mostly, it depends on the situation. If he's simply trying to protect only himself, he'll fight until he needs to, and then he'll "flight" unless it's unnecessary. But when his friends are involved, he immediately goes into fight to do everything he can to protect them. 

Does this character ever put someone else's needs in front of their own?

Yes, very often! I don't think y'all need proof of this XD. He cares for others more than himself most of the time, and although that's good, my boi still needs to protect and care for himself. 

Can this character easily hide their emotions?

Well, Kai tries to hide his emotions most of the time, and there are some times when he successfully looks "blank", but that's when it's easy to tell that something is bothering him. If he's sitting alone and staring wistfully into space, you know something's wrong. If he's awake at night, there usually is something wrong. When he's upset, he tends to huddle into himself and not speak to anyone. Basically, no, although he tries - it's just easy to tell XD. 

Does this character ever get violent when feeling any certain emotions?

YES. Though it hasn't been said, but when Kai gets SERIOUSLY mad (which isn't too often), he tends to lock himself into a room so he doesn't accidentally throw something at anyone. Though he tries to hold himself back most of the time, he'll grab the nearest thing and throw it with a loud shout. Most of time he'll come out of the room disappointed in himself, but he hardly ever gets THAT mad XD. 

Does the character have any triggers? Why do these things trigger them?

Yes. Usually when he sees his friends get physically or even emotionally or mentally injured, he freaks out. Either he'll do everything in his power to get them to safety, or he'll freeze and panic to a point where he can't move or breathe. Another trigger for him is the sight of a lot of blood (a little blood is okay), but when he sees blood, he remembers things he doesn't want to and freaks out. 

He is triggered by these things because of what happened to him when he was ten (watching his mother die, having to kill that girl, finding Luke dead), and other things that have been tormenting his life since then. These things can trigger him very easily now, because Brethren elevated those triggers during the time he spent with Kai. 

What would (emotionally) hurt this character so badly they couldn't even breathe? 

The death of anyone he cares about. That much is obvious, because of what happened to his mother, Luke, Chase, and Amy. He can't stand it when people get hurt, but if something life threatening even gets close to happening to his friends and family, he can't seem to find his breath. 

What is guaranteed to make this character smile?

Before his death, it was definitely Chase and how ridiculous he could be. There were plenty of times that Chase would be annoying, but Kai loved his friend and secretly was smiling throughout the whole thing. 

After, it would definitely be his family (Falte, Abby, his children), even his friends. 

Does this character tend to blame or punish others for their own emotions?

NOPE. As you all probably well know, Kai tends to blame himself for lots of things (Tbh, I do this too...), and takes responsibility for his own emotions. He tends to find reasons why whatever happened is his fault, and often times he just needs a good slap in the face and comforting words that tell him that it isn't his fault. 

Do they have any scars? Where did those scars come from, and how did they get them?

Yes, he has many. A few of them are childhood scars (because who doesn't hurt themselves accidentally as a kid? XD), but a lot of them are either from Thorn, Brethren, or any random Dark. The biggest scar(s) he has are the ones on his shoulder, the one that Thorn tore and broke. 

Describe some hairstyles your character has had in the past. How about the present? What's their hair like now?

When I first invented Kai (Which was SEVERAL years ago, believe it or not), his hair was almost as long as Shintaro's (who's hair has always remained the same). It wasn't wavy, either. It was basically the same hairstyle as Shintaro's, but black and a little bit shorter. I made it so that he usually kept it in a high ponytail. 

But when I started getting more into him, I realized that I wanted his hair to be different. I don't remember how exactly it happened (if it got shorter over time of if I just completely clean cut it), but I know at one point his hair was just past his ears and straight. 

My sister started to draw him, and then I decided I wanted his hair to be slightly wavy, to give it a bit of flare. It became a little shorter over time, but it grows longer throughout the books. 

Now, he keeps his hair down to his shoulders, just barely touching them. When he's doing normal, everyday things, he'll let it loose over his shoulders. But when he's doing something strenuous or it's a hot day, he'll tie it in a bun or ponytail (HOTNESS-).

How easily can they bear pain?

Kai is like me - it's surprisingly easy to take a lot of pain (for instance, I tripped and SLID MY KNEE across CONCRETE. Yes, it hurt like freaking HECK, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Most of time, I laugh at myself when I get hurt XD). There are certain points where he can hardly take it, but a sprained ankle or deep cut isn't as bad for him as others would describe it. 

What kind of clothing does this character like wearing?

If he's not wearing casual skinny jeans and a T-Shirt or a sweater, he's wearing sweatpants, a workout undershirt, or a large sweater. He doesn't like to dress fancy, mostly lightweight stuff or thick things (because he doesn't like being cold). 

How does this character feel about animals?

When it comes to big dogs, Kai is absolutely terrified of them (unless he knows that they're tame and they are okay with him). He was reluctant when it came to Komakii, but at the same time, he was mesmerized by the wolf. But Great Danes, wolves, or any other big, muscular dogs are not for Kai. 

When it comes to BUNNIES, however, Kai ABSOLUTELY LOVES THEM. But he refuses to tell anyone else that XD. He things bunnies are super cute, with their noses and their tails and their legs and their fur LOL. He loves petting them and watching them twitch their little noses. 

If the character could only wear clothing of one color, which would they choose?

Kai would say black (because he likes the color, and because he gets cold really easily so it would keep him warm on summer days XD), but Abby would tell him blue. She thinks he looks really good in blue colors. 

What is the character's favorite weather?

I imagine that Kai has the same preference as me: Slightly overcast, not too sunny, and breezy. 

What's the worst injury they've ever gotten?

That has to be when Thorn damaged his shoulder - permanently. There are many times that it still causes him pain, because he can't use it as well as the other. 

If the character could go back and speak to a younger version of them-self, what would they say?

I can imagine it perfectly. 

Older Kai (Married Kai, Father Kai, Peaceful Kai) would find his younger self during his worst moment. He would approach him softly and carefully, with a inviting and reassuring smile. He would find Younger Kai sitting forlornly by himself, and Older Kai would kneel in front of him quietly. 

For a while, Older Kai wouldn't say anything. He would simply take his younger self's shoulders and pull him into a soft embrace. He would rub Younger Kai's back, the way they both like, and gently rock back and forth. If he had to, Older Kai would let Younger Kai sit in his lap. 

After a few minutes of quiet reassurance, Older Kai would speak without letting go of Younger Kai. "It will be alright," he would say softly, reassuringly. He would repeat himself again and again, so that Younger Kai would finally believe it. 

"It will be okay. Just keep going, and soon you'll see. Everything will turn out alright. Just keep going."
