Why do people abandon their pets?

I dont understand it....

One of my old neightbors who were way to athletic for my tastes had many animals. Loud ass dogs, an outdide cat, and birds too I think... they moved away a while back, and today their old cat was at our door.

Its probably a bad thing that I have such a soft spot for animals. She looked horrible... she ran away after I took a few steps towards her- just sprinted away like I had a weapon. Of course, I didnt get a really good look but I went inside and stole some food from our cats setting it putside for her. When my dad finds out, i know he'll kill me but i felt so bad! How could they!? I remember a few years ago I fed their cat because it looked starved and its bowl was empty and their mom chased me off their property yelling at me that its her animal and she will care for it how she desires! So I stayed clear of their property after that, and tried to stay away from the cat... if i saw it duffering more i wouldnt be able to take it.

But after setting the bowl outside, I had to teach her it was ok to eat. But she ran away again, so at a slow pace I followed her tossing peices of kibble to her feet. The one time I threw it perfectly and it dtumbled to her paws, she looked down at it, at me, and walked away. She didnt even smell it... like she knew it was only going to bring pain... and the worst part was how she looked- physically. One of her ears are pinned to her head, like she hasnt lifted it off her head in a while... but the weird part is its folded forward, not back lile as though she was scared... that worries me...
She had small scars and blisters all over her face... she was the definition of horrible...

She ate some of the food thankfully, but she still hasnt trusted us enough to het really close... a few yards is too close, and she sprints off... if I see any of my old neighbors they will get a mouthful of my opinion on this bullshit! Pets are your family! No matter the animal! You feed and shelter them as though they were your child! And this kind of stuff pisses me off! How could you? She trusted you! She loved you! And this is your thanks!? Abandoning her! Leaving her to die! Well I hope your happy, she seems to be on the brink of death you assholes...

I hope you burn in hell you heartless excuses of people...

I cant beleive you... the least you couldve done is taken her to a shelter, if they put her down it woulve been less suffering than this! She was too tame! Even for an outdide cat! She starved! Shes injured, really bad! .... and now she doesnt know who to trust... she cant find help because shes afraid of the pain you gave her...

Know each and every tears rolling down my cheeks right now are for that poor animal... and I hope your guilty. I dont care if you dont read this. THAT is wrong! How could you not see that!? I just hipe we arent too late, and she can be saved... I can tell shes a good cat, even you saw that in her once... and if I save her, she wont have the same name. She will be mine, I will protect her! I will give her the care shes missed out on for all those years... ill pay for her shit MYSELF if I have to. I was saving for college but... a few hundred wont make much of a difference. Even if it takes all four hundred dollars! Im going to actually try and love her! Like she belongs! Like she has a family!

Make her feel lived again... and I wont stop til on of us are dead. Whichever comes first. And you better hope I dont run into you bitch... because you will regret it. Trust me on that.
