I have remained a child for too long,
I lived in complete dependency on my parents,
I relied on them,
For way too long.

I decided to strike out on my own,
To fall and pick myself up,
To live by my own doing,
To sleep alone in an empty apartment.

I did not think long and hard on this,
If I had I would have realized it was folly,
For now that I am on my own,
I fall and can rarely get back up.

I live in a hovel,
I work morning & noon & night,
I barely get by in real life,
I told you it was folly!

As a child,
I thought as a child,
As an adult,
I must now think like an adult.

How do you become an adult,
When you are still a child?
How do you become a full-fledged adult,
When you know not what it truly means?

If I had known how cruel the world is,
Would I have left home to grow up?
If I had believed my parents,
Would I be living the way I am?
