Sans x Reader Oneshot

Okay, I am actually annoyed at how I can't find any good fanfiction, and it makes me really sad, so to cope with the fact that I can't ever be satisfied, I'm going to write a small oneshot from scratch!

This is going to be a Sans x Reader because I feel like they're fairly easy and I can build a character however I want without having to worry about if I'm getting the character accurately and doing a million google searched and then getting distracted. (Also I am Undertale trash and they're all I'm trying to read even though I'm not even a Sans fangirl I-).

Hope you enjoy!

-------------------------

You've lived out your life fairly well. You were at the top of your class in school and gained a few aquaintances along the way. You had a great mother and father, your loving little brother, and a wonderful older sister that you all loved dearly.

Well, you had.

After your older sister had gone off to college, everything had changed. Your little brother had loved your older sister more than anything, and he couldn't bear to see her go. When you both were home alone, he went missing. You felt so stupid. You said you could manage fine. Why had you said that? It had been just one hour...

You called out for help. You called out for him.

And you found his lifeless body at the top of Mt. Ebott.

...Your mind was in a different place when you had made your next action.

***

Fast forward a bit, you had pushed open the doors from the Ruins. Leaving was not easy, especially with the home that was given to you that you so carelessly threw away. You felt that you made a mistake. And yet, you continued forward.

Snowdin was your new destination. You had crossed a bridge with a useless barrier and ran into a skeleton. You tried to escape, but you had no chance. He captured you, and brought you to his home with no idea what to do next, as you quote, "I didn't think I would get this far." You were left into the hands of their older brother, Sans, who made you feel a little more safe as he ensured he and Papyrus, the first skeleton, wouldn't do jack shit to you even if they tried, despite the kidnapping and torturous yet unadmittably funny puns. He asked you about yourself, as well. You didn't give him all the details, yet somehow you felt that he could see them anyways. Or, at least, sense them.

He made no further question, however, and you switched the topic to you escaping. You didn't like the sound of "souls" and "King Asgore" and whatever else the "future royal guard" had said. Unfortunately, your conversation had been cut short by the giant, now goofy-looking, Papyrus. As he couldn't find this "Undyne" character, he was forced to keep the "human" captive for a while longer.

During this time, you bonded, or as Sans would say, "boned-ed" with the two brothers and convinced Papyrus not tell Undyne about you. You lived with them for safety and somewhat enjoyed it there. Although you agreed to the ordeal reluctantly at first, you soon began to accept the fact that you had to live life in the Underground, stripped from the world from that day forward with the exception of the two skeleton brothers, Sans and Papyrus.

***The Present***

"Hey, Sans, could you hand me the thyme?"

It was your turn to cook today. Papyrus was out training with Undyne tonight, so he wouldn't be able to cook dinner spaghetti. Therefore, you were to cook, since Sans has never stepped foot inside a kitchen before.

"What, is it seasoning thyme already?" Sans joked, entering the kitchen (for the first time) and reaching inside a cupboard. You laughed at the bad joke and sprinkled the thyme given to you on the finished spaghetti.  You stepped back to take a final look at your work. It shined with quality and shimmered with taste. You may like Papyrus' spaghetti, (in which Sans found extremely concerning), but you preferred your cooking instead. You checked your watch.

"Papyrus should be here in around 10 minutes, so we're probably gonna wait around here for a while," you concluded.  You turned to Sans with a smile. "Couch?"

He smiled back. "Couch."

You set the finished spaghetti on the table and left with Sans to the living room, the couch welcoming you both over. Plopping down on it, you pulled out a book and started reading, while Sans napped on the armrest.

After a few minutes, you snuck a glance at him and stared, more specifically his chest area. It never really fazed you much when you found out monsters lived, and you merely accepted it by the time you arrived at Snowdin. But you never really gave it much thought as to their anatomy. More specifically, at this very moment, a living skeleton's.

Ever since you came to the realization of that, you had glanced at the two brothers more than often, trying to figure out how they worked. How did they breathe? Where did their voice come out? How can they eat? Why can they eat? It all confused you mentally. And it definitely didn't help that you were forced to be isolated in this one house at all times with the exception of the skeletons in question. You've taken peaks out the window before, but it wasn't as good as seeing someone up close. So you wanted to experiment with the only test subject you had at the moment.

You snapped your book shut and softly placed it on your armrest, leaning over towards Sans until you were directly above him. You hesitated as you hovered your finger above his chest area, where you would definitely feel ribs on a skeleton (Of course, you wouldn't know what was under there, due to obvious reasons). A tiny poke wouldn't hurt, right? You didn't want to wake him. Could you ask him about it later instead?

You shook your head. He can't know you've been thinking about this. It'll be terrible. Oh, and embarrassing. And torturous, to have him explain what must be basic monster anatomy.

You took a deep breath and went in for the poke.

You yelped as you felt a boney hand clasp around your wrist. You looked down to find Sans staring at you, and you could've sworn you saw the slightest tint of blue on his face. That's when you realized how close you were to him. Your faces were just about inches apart. You yelped once more and sat up straight immediately and got ready to profusely and repeatedly apologize when you heard him... laughing? He was also sitting up from his seat, clutching his chest and not even trying to hold back his laughter. Your face flared. You were embarrassed, and oh so utterly humiliated.

"H-Hey! Stop laughing!" You said, glaring dead into his gleaming eyesockets. His laughing slowed into soft chuckling as he finally choked out deciferable words. "So... is this about how skeletons function?" You almost choked on air at how spot on he was.

"I never understand how you can immediately guess what I'm feeling," you pout, looking away to hide your burning face. He was such a tease, you weren't even sure he was aware he was doing it.

Sans shrugged. "Every human has that interest about monsters, don't worry. Want me to borrow a book about it from the Librarby?"

You dared a glance at him. "...You don't have to do that," you mutter quietly.

He smiled. "What, you want me to explain it to you?"

If you had water in your mouth, you would have spit it out by now. "W-What?! I- Well, no, but- You know what? I'll take the book."

Sans chuckles at your reaction and grunts as he gets off the couch, stretching his arms. "Welp, Paps should be here soon, so I can stop by there lat-"

The door barges open.

"Speak of the devil," Sans sighs.

"Sans! (Y/N)! The Great Papyrus is home!" He looked at the two of you and frowned. "Really? Slacking off on the couch again? I swear, Sans just made a clone of himself and pretended it was a human."

Sans shrugged. "Guilty."

You covered you mouth in an attempt to hold back your laughter, but your eyes gave yourself away as you started tearing up from the force of holding it back. You quickly ran over to the kitchen and waved Papyrus over before anything else. "C'mon, Paps, I made spaghetti."

This made me really happy because JSHEBEJENEJDS my fanfiction needs are fueled once more.

I really came up with all of this in one night and finished it in two afternoons, it was that easy and I'm still satisfied with it. I might get into it more in the future...

WELP. Time to bathe in my overloaded Inktober, animations, and art collabs. :)
