❤️Rivals❤️ Nobody Saves The World-RandyXReader

Randy the Rad. That was the name the smug little wizard gave himself. Not the most original, not the most creative. Y/N W/N (wizard/witch name), now that was much better. And you reminded your magical rival of this all the time.

"So, Randy the rascal, what's on the agenda today?" You asked him in a teasing manner.

"For Nostramagus' sake, it's Randy the Rad! And speaking of, the great Nostramagus already gave me my tasks. As one of his apprentices, you should have remembered your tasks." Randy snarkily replied.

"Whatever, Randy the rat." You rolled your eyes at him and received the most lethal of death glares in return.

Randy turned and stomped out the room. He did not like the names you came up with for him. But he brought all this upon himself. The day you two met, he found you in the woods being attacked my monsters. He blasted them away with his magic and helped you back to Nostramagus', now known as Nobody's, castle. That was the only time he was nice to you. After the greatest wizard of all time decided to take you in as an apprentice and started teaching you magic, Randy became very salty towards you. You guessed he didn't like sharing his role. He eventually got over most of his jealousy and the two of you became rivals instead of enemies. And as Randy's rival, you thought it completely necessary to keep the smug wizard's ego in place by finding alternatives to his stage name.

You looked down at your wrist to see the note you wrote for yourself. It read "water plants, feed horses." After the defeat of the Calamity and Nobody's transformation, he did not give you or Randy very many tasks. He still needed help keeping up with his castle, but there were barely any monsters left to fight. Most had been exterminated with the Calamity.

You shrugged and moved to the corner of the room where the watering can was kept. You picked it up and filled it to the brim using your magic. Then you began the slow journey around the castle, watering every plant and occasionally refilling the watering can. After this was done, you left the castle and began to head towards the horse field. You and Randy found it weird how Nobody kept his horses so far from his castle. Randy asked about this one time, and Nobody told him that his horses liked to be with the other horses. It wasn't too far of a walk, and you usually enjoyed the path towards the field. But today felt different. The crisp Autumn air rustled the trees and sent a shiver down your spine. The wind was the only noise today. No birds. No other people. Just wind. It felt eerie, but you shrugged the feeling off.

Upon arriving at the horse field, you noticed there was no one around. Both horses and their usual caretakers were absent. That's strange, you thought. But you continued your task regardless. Opening the storage box that was placed besides a tree, you pulled out an armful of hay. Things had really changed since the defeat of the Calamity. The adding of a hay box was one of the smaller things, but you were grateful nonetheless. You dumped the hay into the feeding trough, then looked around. No horses came trotting up at the sound of food.

Feeling uneasy again, you tried to make your way back to the castle. You only took a few steps before a humongous dragon landed directly in front of you. It looked similar to the "Dead Dragon" dungeon that you had seen a few times. Only this dragon was orange, and it was slightly smaller. But regardless, you had never fought an enemy of this size before. It growled at you, eyeing you closely for any sudden movements. You stood completely still, conjuring up an attack in your head.

After a few moments, the dragon became agitated and stomped its front feet. You immediately began to cast a spell that would shoot a ball of magic damage at the beast, just like Randy had taught you. You shot at the dragon, and your magic hit it right under its wing. It roared and thrashed its tail, smacking you into a tree and knocking the breath out of your lungs. You tried to catch your breath as you pulled yourself up, but the dragon stomped towards you and slammed a paw down, claws catching onto your shirts and pinning you to the ground. It moved its head closer to you, ready to finish you off.

A magic blast came out from behind the trees and struck the dragon in the eye. It reared up on its two back legs, which temporarily freed you. A figure quickly darted towards you and scooped you up, carrying you out of the dragon's range.

"Randy!" You cheered as the wizard set you down.

"What are you thinking, you fool? Fighting this thing all on your own? Surely you're not that idiotic!" He scolded condescendingly.

"Nice to see you too." You muttered sarcastically. The dragon roared again and bolted in your direction.

"Get up, Y/N! We've got to take this thing down before Nostramagus gets involved." Randy told you. You got to your feet and readied a spell, Randy standing besides you mimicking your motions. The two of you shot magic in sync as the dragon charged at you. The creature screeched as it was hit, falling down on the ground in front of you. Whether it was dead or only unconscious, you didn't know.

"Wow, you're actually really powerful." You said to the wizard, trying not to sound impressed.

"That's why I was Nostramagus' first apprentice." He replied boastfully. You rolled your eyes, but then looked back to see him looking at you up and down.

"Uh, what's with the search?" You questioned.

"I'm trying to check you for injuries, you insufferable lump." He snapped, lightly blushing and immediately turning away.

"Aww, do you care about me or something?" You teased, moving closer and leaning against his arm.

"Or something." He replied, eyes closed and nose up. You were just about to make another smart alec remark when the fallen dragon gave a sudden snort. This made you jump a little a cling to Randy's arm.

"Let go of me!" He snapped, but did not make any attempt to push you away. You could see his face getting redder as you held onto him, but decided to keep quiet about it. You didn't need to tease him about EVERYTHING.

"We should report this to Nostramagus. He'll know what to do with this beast." Randy said.

"I thought you didn't want him to get involved." You replied.

"Do you want to relocate this mass of an annoyance?" Randy scoffed. You shook your head. "That's what I thought."

The unconscious dragon twitched and snorted again. The two of you decided to leave before it woke up. After letting go of Randy's arm you began your short journey back to the castle.

"How did you find me in time?" You asked him as you walked.

"I heard the dragon's roar. And I heard your screaming. It was mostly your screaming." He snickered.

"I didn't scream! You're making that up!"

"You were definitely screaming." He insisted cockily.

"Was not."

"Was too."

The two of your continued to bicker like children until you reached the castle. You found Nobody as soon as you came inside. He was asleep on his desk, snoring gently.

"Sir! Wake up!" You called. He shot up immediately and looked around.

"Oh, hey Y/N. And I told you, you don't have to call me that." Nobody told you. He had become a lot more casual and fun after his transformation. "Anyways, what's wrong? You look like you've been in a fight."

"We have." Randy told him. "There was a dragon attacking Y/N at the horse field. Luckily, I came by and saved them."

"We defeated the dragon together, idiot." You glared at the blue-haired wizard.

"But I still saved you. Which makes me better."

"Does not."

"Does too."

"Alright alright!" Nobody yelled. "Geez, you two drive me nuts sometimes. I'll go deal with the dragon. Thanks for letting me know." With that, he slid off his chair and headed out the door. As soon as he was gone, you turned back to Randy.

"Hey, thanks for saving me back there." You said.

"Whatever. Don't get all sentimental on me." Randy mumbled in response.

"I know we've got this rivalry going, but... I'm glad I met you." You gave him a small smile, which made him stiffen and start to turn red again.

"I said DON'T get sentimental on me!" He growled and begun to storm off to his room. Before he left, he paused. "I'm... Glad I met you too." He said quietly while still turned away.

"Aww, I knew you cared about me!" You joked.

"Don't make me take it back." He hissed.

"Heh. Right. Sorry." You replied before watching him walk up the stairs to his chambers.
