Ripper turned his head toward the sound that he had been chasing for some time now. Where, just where could it be coming from? He had checked everywhere but he couldn't seem to find the source of the noise. As he strolled down an alleyway, ignoring the screams of by standing humans, he could hear the sound growing closer. Now it was clearer, was that the sound of a crying dinosaur? Hah. Easy prey. Ripper thought as he climbed up the side of a building. He was sure the sound was coming from the roof. As he neared the top, he prepared himself for a delicious midnight snack. He leaped onto the roof and looked around. Yes, the sound was coming from up here.

He searched the shadows, not finding anything at first. Then a flash of blue in the darkness caught his eye. He turned, ready to pounce. The velociraptor Blue jumped, startled by Ripper's sudden appearance. But this was not the Dino Ripper was expecting. He had always thought Blue was a little cool, and he didn't exactly want to take her life. Then it dawned on him, as he saw another tear run down her cheek, that she was the one crying. A tiny bit of Empathy gripped his cold heart. Why was this raptor sad?

"Why are you crying?" He asked, trying to be sympathetic. She cocked her head sideways and gave a small snort.

"You're not going to kill me?" She questioned.

"No, just tell me what's wrong." Ripper was trying to be patient, but his tolerance wasn't that high. He lowered his claws and tail, signaling that he didn't want to fight. Blue looked back up at the shining moon.

"I miss them. My sisters. They were killed by the I.Rex a while ago. It's gotten lonely without them." She said, holding back more tears. Ripper walked over and sat down next to her.

"I'm sorry that happened.... if you'd like, I can keep you company." He offered. Blue snorted with laughter for a minute.

"You're joking, right?" She asked, amused. Ripper shook his head.

"Wait, you're serious?" Blue seemed surprised as Ripper nodded. Blue sat silent for a moment.

"Yeah, I guess you could. As long as you don't kill me." She said. Ripper grinned, an actual, genuine smile.

The two Dinos shot up when they heard shouting coming up the stairs. A group of guards burst through a small door at the corner of the roof. They were all armed with guns, and while Ripper could withstand a few shots, Blue couldn't. So he took it upon himself to charge at the guards and protect Blue. With a swish of his tail, he knocked two clean off the roof. He heard the screaming, then complete silence. A grin lit up his foaming mouth and he shot at another guard, grabbing him in his jaws. He chomped down, watching the blood squirt and chuckling as the body made crunching noises. The other guards screamed in terror, running back into the door and scurrying down the stairs. Ripper smiled and turned back to Blue.

"Thanks?" She said, wondering if killing was the answer. But she too was smiling. Ripper walked over and gave her a lick on the nose.

"No problem." He said, laying down next to her. She leaned on his gold-streaked body, the two raptors staring up the the bright shining moon that lit up the night sky.
