Y/N had always been a fun loving person. You loved going fun places and throwing parties. That was a bit of a problem for the stern and serious Tseng. How the two of you managed to connect, no one knew. It was around 4:30 pm. Tseng has been preparing for a meeting with Shinra. You chose that exact moment to invite him bowling.
"Tseng! Are you free tonight?" You asked the Turk. He opened his mouth to say something, but you in all of your excited energy cut him off.
"I was wondering, we barely spend any time together, do you want to go bowling tonight?" Tseng put his hand on his forehead.
"I already told you Y/N. I have a meeting with Reno tonight." He said.
"But you're always at meetings or on a mission or some boring crap like that! We never get to have any fun!" You pleaded.
"It's not boring. It's important. I can't go tonight. That's how it is." Tseng stated.
Slightly offended, you stormed off to your chambers. why does he always have to do serious stuff? What's wrong with having a bit of fun sometimes? You wondered as you flopped down onto your bed and looked out your window. It had been three years since a group of soldiers had killed your family and burned down your home. You were the only survivor. Tseng had witnessed this cruelty and had taken you in. Now you were a proud Shinra member in training. You heaved a sigh as you shook your head, trying to rid your brain of the sad memories of your family.
As much as you missed them, you loved living in the Shinra headquarters. And.... you had grown feelings for that ever so serious Turk, Tseng. if only we could hang more often You thought. Jumping off the mattress, you headed out of your bedroom and down the hall. On the way down, you ran into your best friend Reno. that's strange. I thought Tseng had a meeting with Reno? You walked up to him.
"Hey there Y/N!" He greeted your presence.
"Tseng said he had a meeting with you." You stated clearly. Reno cocked his head to the side.
"No, that's not right. I don't have any meetings with Tseng." He said.
Infuriated, you mumbled a "Thanks." Then you stomped off toward the outdoors.
So, Tseng thought he could lie about a meeting to avoid you, Huh? I can't believe he would lie to me like that! You thought as you strolled through the dark and broken city. After what seemed like an hour, you finally took in your surroundings. But... where were you? It seemed that you had come to a cliffside. How did you get here? I must have not been paying attention. Hopefully I'm not lost You thought. Suddenly there was a loud crack and the ground started shaking a bit. Then you realized: The ground wasn't shaking, the cliff was breaking off!
Falling through the air, your hand managed to grip the side of the cliff. now what? You thought as you started to panic. The cliff wouldn't hold for much longer. As more cracking commenced, you could feel your grasp wavering. One last, loud crack, and you felt yourself falling. But only for a second. Were you... hovering in midair? No, something... someone, had caught you. You looked up and saw the one person that made your heart leap. Tseng had you in his grasp, and was pulling you up.
"Tseng!" You called his name. He yanked you to safety and then, surprisingly, he hugged you. This was rare for the Turk, considering how serious he normally was.
"Don't ever do that again!" He scolded.
"Sorry..." you mumbled.
Then, kissing your head, Tseng said "I love you too much to lose you." Shocked, and a blushing mess, you puckered up the courage to look into his eyes. Was he being serious? Did he..... then you remembered.
"You... lied about having a meeting with Reno so you could avoid me." You uttered. You could feel the man hugging you tense a little.
"No, quite the opposite." He said.
"What do you mean?" You asked, confused.
Tseng blushed a little bit before saying, "You See... we never really hang out anymore. And while meetings and Shinra are important, I find that... you are more important. So, I told you I was going to a meeting but really.... I was setting up a surprise party for you." You chuckled a bit.
"Oh? What's the occasion?" You questioned.
"Don't you remember? Your birthday is in two days! How could you forget?" Tseng answered.
"Hehe.. sorry. I don't like to think about it much... my birthday is also the day my family was killed." The Turk lifted your chin to meet his eyes.
"It's alright now. I won't let any soldiers, imperials, or anything else in existence get to you." He said with a smile.
"Really?" You asked. Tseng nodded.
"Really." He gave you a peck on the lips, then started leading you back to the Shinra headquarters.
"Come on, there's a party waiting for you."
