Lavender was baking for the neighbors coming over for a house party tomorrow. Some kind of cookie or cupcake, I didn't know. I mean, I never knew anything about baking. I tried to make a cake once, I burned it twice. Don't ask me how, I don't know.

I heard music playing from the speakers in our kitchen, just like Lavender. Always with music somewhere around her. Whether it was from her or something else didn't matter. I snuck over to the iPod and selected a song. As soon as it changed Lavender looked around in confusion but smiled when she saw me and heard the song I picked. We had been dating for 6 years now and I knew her pretty well so just as I suspected, she started singing along with the female part.

"Can I just say something... crazy?"

"I love crazy" I responded, playing along.

"All my life has been a series of doors in my face, and then suddenly I bump into you," she abandoned her project and started to dance around the kitchen to the song.

"I was thinking the same thing, 'cause like, I've been searching my whole life to find my own place, and maybe it's the amazing baking, or the cute attitude," she giggled at my lyric rewrite.

"But with you~,"

"But with you~," we harmonized perfectly.

"I've found my place-"

"I see your face,"

"And it's nothing like I've ever known before," we sang together, dancing the choreography like we made it up ourselves.

"Love is an open door~" we sang while spinning around the kitchen, we almost knocked over the blender, what a disaster that would have caused.

We continued to sing in perfect synchronicity throughout the entire song. As the end drew nearer I became more and more nervous because I had been planning something for a while now. Something risky but something I think I didn't just pick this song out of sheer randomness.

I checked my pocket to make sure the small velvet box was still there and got ready for the big moment.

"Can I say something crazy?" I ask and prepare myself for what's about to come next.

I get onto one knee and pull out the velvet box.

"Will you marry me?" I start to talk over the music. "You have made me the happiest person in the entire universe being with me. I couldn't ask for a better girlfriend or someone to spend my life with."

Lavender covers her mouth and tears start to steam down her face. As the seconds pass the tension just grows.

She finally finds her voice and croaks out a small "Y-yes!"

As soon as she says it I put the ring on her finger and leap up to hug her. After a short hug we come together for a short but passionate kiss. I can taste the tears on her cheek as I kiss it. This is the happiest moment of my life.
