Gustav x Reader || HTTYD

Hey!

I want to say thanks to @Chara_Is_My_Fav for helping me with an idea for drama/situations. Again, I appreciate it!

I do need to work on things like the climax and drama.

So anyway, here we go!
•-•-•-•-•
Info:
-you're a female
-you're from the modern world
-Gustav is around 12 in the show, but here he is 15
-you are 16 years old (Snotlout is 16 in this as well)
-he's 5'5" and you're 5'7" (so a taller girl with a shorter boy, which I think is pretty cool)

Modern World
Your POV
•-•-•-•-•

[My name is YN Jorgenson.]

I'm walking in the fields of my dad's property, smiling gently at the sounds of the horses whinnying in the distance. The sun beats down on me, warming up my body with ease.

[I am a fifteen year old female who lives on an island named Berk.]

The horizon stretches beyond what I can see, and the trees sway in the breeze and the birds sing their lullabies into the vibrant blue sky.

As I walk, I try to be careful, but I end up not seeing a rogue rock laying a few feet in front of me. My eyes are too focused on the beautiful surroundings that I'm not concentrating on where I'm going.

[I have a dragon named Kairi. She's a Sliquifier, Tidal Class. I found her hurt near the ocean, and brought her back to health. She's been my loyal and trusty partner ever since.]

My foot gets caught on something, causing me to trip. I gasp and fumble to catch myself, but to no avail as I crash land on the ground. Hitting my head in the process, which results in me blacking out.

[I thought I was from the modern world, but apparently I was wrong. Or maybe I wasn't.]

I groan as I wake up with a splitting headache, my eyes closed tightly as my hands reach up to cover my face. I slowly sit up, the headache relieving itself a little.

"YN, you're awake!"

I'm startled when I'm pulled into a crushing hug, and something inside of me tells me that I know him from somewhere. He pulls away before I could respond in any way.

[I'm from another place entirely, and yet I knew him despite us living in separate worlds. Separate universes, even. It's confusing.]

A name comes to mind and before I know it, I'm speaking his name is a scratchy voice, "Snotlout..?"

He nods at me, asking, "Are you okay?"

"Where am I?" I question, not answering his as I scan the unfamiliar room.

"You must've hit your head pretty hard," Snotlout chuckles. "You're at home, little sister. At Berk."

"Home? Little sister? Berk?"

[None of it makes sense, and still doesn't. Though deep down, it makes sense as to why Snotlout and I are family. I know him inside and out, ever since I first saw him.]

"Yeah. I'm your brother, this is our home, and we live on Berk," he repeats, looking concerned. "Are you sure you're okay?"

"I-I'm fine.."

[The only thing we don't understand is why we remember two completely different timelines we've lived.]

"Can you remember anything else?" Snotlout asks me again, and I think for a moment.

All I remember is the modern world, not my supposed "home" here on "Berk." I remember my horses, the fields I loved so dearly, my farm, and my dad.

Though I feel some connection to this place that I've never felt to the modern world. It's hard to describe, but it's as if I've lived here for all my life too.

[It's as if the world Snotlout remembered never existed, like he imagined the whole thing happening. What he told me he recalled from his life with me happened all over again.]

"Could you show me around..?"

"Sure, follow me."

Snotlout leads me out of the house, that I've never been in before but can navigate flawlessly, and shows me around Berk. Apparently, Berk is on an island, and the people who live here are Vikings with tamed dragons as companions.

My big brother says hello to a few people he knows, and all of them ask who I am. This confuses him, but he tells them anyway. They always congratulate us for finding each other, for him finding his lost-long sister.

[As of right now, everything feels normal. Nearly every detail Snotlout told me has been happening over the past few weeks, from me meeting his friends to aiding a hurt dragon.]

"Why don't they remember you? They've seen you a million times before.."

That's when I decide to tell Snotlout of what I can remember. I inform him of my farm, the horses, my dad and school. He tells me of what he remembers. We would fly our dragons together, play pranks on our friends (after he introduced me to them), and that I even healed a dragon.

[Let's see how this plays out.]

We don't exactly know what's happening, but decide to go with the flow and just shrug it off as weird. Something inside of me tells me that I won't ever be going back to the modern world, but I'm content with that.

I would think I'd be more devastated, as I just lost everything, but I'm not. I gained a brother and a whole new home that I feel strongly for, despite this being the first time ever seeing it with my actual eyes.

As if I were dreaming of this place the whole time, but was blind. Knowing where everything is and who some people are, but never knowing what anything or anybody looks like.

It's a strange concept.

My past life begins to feel like a distant memory, or even just something I imagined. A fictional book I had written of another world.

However, that wouldn't explain why I don't recall anything else that Snotlout said happened.

Maybe this is just a screw up in our timelines, a glitch in the system.

Either way, I never want to go back.

[End of Journal Entry One.]

Snotlout takes me to be reintroduced to his friends, and they don't remember me either apparently. Same vise versa, honestly. I'm basically meeting them for the first time.

I learn that their names are Hiccup, Astrid, Ruffnut, Tuffnut and Fishlegs.

"So, wait, hang on a second," Hiccup starts, looking between Snotlout and I. "Let me get this straight. You two are siblings?"

Snotlout and I glance at one another for a split second before nodding, replying in unison, "Yeah, pretty much."

"Woahh, you guys are, like, long-lost siblings or something!" Tuffnut exclaims, and Ruffnut hits him over the head with her helmet.

"No, duh!" she proclaims.

"You don't seem as obnoxious or arrogant as Snotlout," Astrid comments.

"Hey!" my brother yells defensively, and I snort.

"Thanks," I state, crossing my arms. "I try to be the best I can be."

"I'm right here, you know!"

"Yep, we know," I reply, glancing up at Snotlout with a cheeky grin.

He playfully nudges me, and I do the same back to him, but harder. We end up having a play fight, to which his friends laugh at us for.

We stop after about a minute or so, then continue talking with the others.

"How old are you, YN?" Fishlegs asks me, curious.

"I'm sixteen, why?"

"Are you and Snotlout twins then? Because you both are the same age."

"Um," I pause, looking at my brother before going back to Fishlegs. "I'm not too sure. I guess so."

"Why aren't you sure?"

"If she's long-lost then she most likely wouldn't know, Fishlegs," interrupts Hiccup.

"Oh, right. Sorry."

"It's fine," I dismiss, biting back the urge to tell them the truth. I don't know if Snotlout wants to tell them yet, so I'll hold back on it for now.

As it gets later in the day, Snotlout and I head home. I get a strange feeling, an urgency, that I need to get to the shore pronto. I smack Snotlout's arm before running in that direction, him sprinting after me in confusion.

At the rocky shore as ocean waves crash up, there lies a wounded dragon. I identify it as a female Sliquifier, apart of the Tidal Class. I immediately stop and motion for Snotlout to stay behind me.

He doesn't respond verbally as he nods, catching his breath with his hands on his knees. He watches carefully, and realization settles in his eyes. It must not be about anything dangerous, as he's not telling me.

Though he does quietly say to me, "Be careful, YN."

"I'll try to be," I mutter back almost silently, slowly inching my way closer to the dragon.

Her head raises and she whimpers, attempting to scoot away from me in fear and suspicion. Her wing is trapped under a pile of rocks and her tail is caught in a net.

I assume she got caught in the net in the ocean, then when she got onto land a small avalanche type of thing happened and crushed her wing.

She must not have had the best luck lately.

I cautiously lift up both of my hands to her, showing her I have no weapons.

"I don't want to hurt you," I start softly. "I just want to help you, but I can't do that if you attack me. You have to trust me."

She looks uncertain as I take another small step closer, but stares into my eyes as I gently repeat, "Trust me."

The dragon lowers her head to the ground, letting me come closer. I make short, slow movements as not to scare her. When I get close, I let her sniff my hand. She nuzzles her snout into my hand, putting her trust in me.

I smile at this and whisper, "I'll get you out of here, girl. I promise."

I turn to Snotlout and wave him over, and he slowly starts to follow. The dragon squints her eyes in distrust, but I run my hand along her neck a few times as I reassure her.

I hold my hand up for my brother to stop, "It's okay. He's my brother and won't hurt you either. I'll need help to get these boulders off of your wing and to break off the net on your tail. You trust me, right?"

She huffs slightly and lowers her head again, allowing Snotlout to continue. Once he reaches us, he lets her smell his hand as well for trust.

The dragon nods her head as he pulls away.

Snotlout then helps me remove the rocks from her wing. After removing the last one, she tries to move it, but cries out in pain.

I gasp slightly and rush over to her head, gently running my hand down her neck again as I try to calm her down. "Hey, hey, I know. I know it hurts. Don't move it, okay? Don't try to fly or you'll hurt yourself even more. I know you're scared, but we want to help you. We will help you if you let us."

She quiets down and nudges me softly, looking at me head on. I wipe away her tears with a sad smile.

"I will nurse you back to health."

With that said, Snotlout and I move to carefully remove the net from her tail. He takes out his knife and cuts it, being sure not to harm the dragon. Once that's done, we unfold the net and she lifts her tail up in the air.

Snotlout puts the net on his shoulder as I make my way back up to the dragon's face. I give her a kind smile and ask quietly, "Are you able to walk? We have medical supplies back at home, and I don't want you to be left alone out here without shelter."

She nods and stands up shakily, and I place my hand on her leg, feeling her smooth sea green scales under my fingers. Snotlout leads the way back home, and I assist the dragon on the best path to take so she won't slip and fall back down the island side and potentially injure herself further.

We make it up without a hitch and take her home. She ducks under the doorway, somehow managing to squeeze herself through.

She settles herself down in the empty space as I speak to Snotlout.

"Wouldn't it just be easier to take her to the Training Academy?" he asks.

"No, because then she'd be surrounded by other dragons constantly, and I don't know if she can handle that yet. Besides, we're already here."

"Fair enough."

After a moment of silence while I gather the proper supplies needed to give the dragon's wing a split of some sort, my brother breaks it.

"Do you know how to do this?"

"Yes," I reply confidently. "I don't know how I know, but I know."

He chuckles, "Alright. I'm here if you need me."

"Okay, thanks."

I then walk over to the dragon and begin fixing up her wing, and to distract her from the pain it's inflicting, I start talking.

"Were you in the ocean before you got caught by that net?"

She nods.

"You have a family out there waiting for you?"

She lowers her head, eyes pained. My eyebrows furrow in sadness, realizing the truth.

"Oh, I'm sorry..well, if it helps, you have a family in us."

Her eyes dart up to mine in surprise, cocking her head to the side. I giggle at this and nod.

"Yes, I mean it."

She seemingly smiles at me before nudging my side with her nose, grateful and happy. My smile widens as I glance at her.

"You're welcome."

As I finish up, I put away the extra supplies and sit back down in front of her.

"You got a name?" I inquire, and she shakes her head. "Hm, well, do you want me to give you one?"

Her eyes light up as she nods in excitement. I laugh and reply, "Alright. How about...oh, I've got it! How about Kairi? It means 'ocean.' Do you like it?"

She nods again and uses her mouth to gently grab my sleeve and pull me closer. Her neck wraps around me as my back is against her body. She's giving me a hug and cuddling with me at the same time.

I grin softly at her, "I'm glad you like it, Kairi."

Snotlout smiles at us, grabbing a blanket from the couch and Kairi lets him lay it on my legs before holding me protectively again.

My brother sits in front of us, in the spot I was in before. Kairi lies her head on the floor beside me, getting comfortable.

"You know what I realized, YN?"

"What?"

"This is exactly how I remember you saving Kairi from the past."

I raise a surprised eyebrow, "Really?"

"Yeah. Everything you said and did today was exactly the same as before. Even Kairi is the same, both in how she acted and looks."

"That's pretty cool," I reply, covering my mouth as I yawn, exhausted.

He chuckles and stands, brushing himself off. "Well, it's been a long day. I'll leave you to your sleep. Also, tomorrow I'm going to the Training Academy. Do you want to come?"

"Sure," I answer, leaning my head back against Kairi as my eyes start closing on their own.

"Alright. Good night, YN."

"G'night, Snotlout," I mumble before drifting off to sleep, listening to the soft breathing of my new partner in crime.

Timeskip- The Next Morning
(Now I kinda want to make this into an actual book. Opinions?)
•-•-•-•-•

I yawn as I wake up, stretching my limbs a little as I open my eyes. I rub them to get rid of the sleep before smiling down at Kairi, who's still sleeping soundly.

She stirs and opens her eyes, blinking a few times as she adjusts to the light, probably. She lifts her head and meets my gaze. Kairi gives me one of her adorkable dragon smiles and I giggle, petting her neck before standing up.

"I'm going to go get cleaned up, okay? I'll bring you food here in a second," I tell Kairi, and she nods, waiting patiently.

I walk to my room and change, then do my morning routine before going back to Kairi. I take a bucket and say, "I'm going to collect some fish for you. I'll be back shortly."

She nods once more and I leave, heading out to get some fresh fish. When I get back, I see her trying to shuffle out of the doorway.

I laugh a little and ask, "Were you going to come find me?"

Kairi nods and backs up to let me in, sitting down and giving me a goofy grin. I roll my eyes playfully before questioning, "Do you like to eat it by hand or on the floor?"

She motions towards the floor and I nod this time, tossing the fish out into the floor. She immediately dives for it and starts wolfing it down.

"You must've been really hungry, huh?"

She licks her lips in response, and I snort in amusement.

As I'm cleaning up the mess, Snotlout comes out of his room and makes breakfast for us two. He looks over and asks, "What happened here?"

"Tossed the fish onto the floor for Kairi to eat," I answer, still moping the floor.

I finish up and wash my hands, sitting at the table as Snotlout finishes the food. He places a plate of eggs and bacon down in front of me as he sits across from me, his own plate in front of him.

We practically inhale our food, and I can hear Kairi laughing at us. Snotlout and I glance at her, mouths full of food. Which probably made us look like squirrels or chipmunks, since she started laughing again.

Swallowing my food, I clean up the plates and we're about to head out. I rub Kairi's neck and say, "We're going to the Training Academy for a while. Can I trust you to be left alone?"

She nods, but has a pleading look in her eyes.

"You want to come too?"

She nods again, looking hopeful.

I look at her in slight concern, a small smile present, "Are you sure? There are other dragons there as well. You ready for that?"

Once more, she nods.

I glance at Snotlout for permission, and he shrugs. I shrug as well and grin at Kairi, saying, "C'mon then. Be careful, though."

Kairi smiles and stands, following us out of the house. She stays by my side as Snotlout leads the way again, glaring at anyone who gets too close.

I smile softly with a giggle, placing my hand on her as we walk. "Hey, girl. It's alright. These people are nice. They won't hurt us."

Her tense form relaxes, believing my words and stops glaring at everyone walking by. A few people compliment me on her beauty, to which both of us are elated to hear. Though Kairi definitely acts shy around everyone, similar to me.

Us three reach the academy and enter, and here we meet Hiccup and the others. I'm also introduced to everyone else's dragons.

Hiccup's is Toothless, a Night Fury. He's either in the Strike or Mystery Class.

Astrid's dragon is Stormfly, a Deadly Nadder. Tracker Class.

Snotlout's is Hookfang, a Monstrous Nightmare. Stoker Class.

The twins share a dragon named Barf and Belch, a Hiddeous Zippleback. Mystery Class.

And last but not least, Fishlegs' dragon is named Meatlug, a Gronckle. Boulder Class.

"Who's this?" Ruffnut asks me, motioning towards Kairi.

"Oh, this is Kairi. Snotlout and I saved her last night. Her wing was trapped under some boulders while her tail was caught in a net," I explain.

"Yeah, but you did most of the saving," Snotlout tells me, for once not stealing the fame as everyone says he does. "You're better at the medical stuff for dragons than I am."

"Still, I couldn't have done that without you," I protest, rubbing Kairi's neck with a small smile.

Snotlout shrugs, most likely not knowing what to say. I laugh a little.

"She's really cool," Astrid adds, "what breed is she?"

"She's a Sliquifier, Tidal Class," I reply immediately. "Found her by the shore of Berk."

"How much do you know about dragons?" Hiccup asks me. "You seem to know a lot about them."

"Well, mainly just of her breed," I admit. "I've always been a huge fan of Sliquifiers, as well as Razorwhips and a few from the Stoker and Tracker Class. I also know some about the Dramillion from the Mystery Class."

"Any from Boulder, Strike or Sharp classes?" Fishlegs asks me.

I shake my head, "Not so much. I only really know of the classes that I prefer when it comes to dragons, or that I find interesting. I haven't found any breeds of dragons in those classes that I found interesting enough to study. No offense."

"None taken," Fishlegs replies. "I understand. You know more of what you're passionate about."

"Exactly," I agree, smiling up at Kairi. "And right now, I'm most interested in learning about Kairi."

"That's sweet," Astrid says. "Is she your dragon, or are you just nursing her back to health so she can leave later?"

"She's staying with us, unless she changes her mind," I reply, smiling a little.

Kairi nudges me, and I know that she won't leave. My grin brightens up a bit and I add, "Though something tells me that she won't."

Hiccup butts in, "Do you have any weapons, YN? We all have some in case of any attacks or missions."

I shake my head, "No, I don't."

"Well, I'll set you up with Gobber later to get that situated for you, then."

"Thanks."

"You're welcome."

We all have a conversation and Kairi lies down in the shade, keeping an eye on and around us. It actually makes me feel safer than I already am, despite her not being able to do much at the moment because of her wing.

Suddenly, a voice from off to the side of the arena exclaims, "Hey guys!"

"Gustav?" Hiccup asks. "What are you doing here?"

"Just thought I'd stop by and see you guys," a cute male replies, then notices me. "Who's she?"

"Uh-huh," Hiccup sighs then replies, "that's YN, Snotlout's long-lost sister."

"Sister? Wow! Nice to meet you, YN! I'm Gustav Larson!"

I smile at him and nod, "You too, Gustav."

Kairi trails up beside me protectively, unsure of the kid. I chuckle and rub her neck soothingly, saying, "It's alright, girl. He's friendly..probably."

Gustav laughs at my comment, causing me to grin just a bit wider.

"Oh! Right! This is my dragon, Fanghook," Gustav mentions, pointing back at his dragon who's coming closer to standby his partner.

"Another Monstrous Nightmare of the Stoker Class," I state in interest, raising my chin a little with a small smirk. "Named after Hookfang, I presume?"

He blushes a little and nods, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.

"He looks up to me," Snotlout tells me proudly, and I snort.

"I don't see why," I reply teasingly, and everyone laughs. "Anyway, Gustav, this is my Sliquifier of the Tidal Class. Her name's Kairi, which means 'ocean' by the way."

"Wow! I've never seen one up close before!" Gustav proclaims in awe, staring at Kairi. "What exactly is she able to do again?"

(AN: Even if he has, he hasn't here. I haven't seen HTTYD in a while so again, I'm making things up as I go along.)

"Well, she has supersonic speed when in water, and her fire type is streams of acid. Her shot limit is four, but her firepower is at a six point six. Also, her speed in general should be around a seven point five," I explain to him, smiling. "Though those are just the average numbers for the Sliquifier breed. They can change or vary, I'd assume."

"That's awesome!"

"Yeah, she's quite something," I say with a nod, petting Kairi's leg. "If you befriend one of them, they'll stay by your side for life, basically."

"That's awesome!" he grins at me, staring into my eyes almost deeply. This causes me to blush a little and turn away.

Luckily, Hiccup saves me by saying, "Sorry to interrupt here, but YN are you ready to get a weapon made for you?"

I look up and nod with a smile, "Yeah, sure."

"Alright, then follow me," Hiccup states, waving a hand that beckons me to follow.

So I do, with Kairi bringing up the rear.

I begin to think about what weapon I want, when I come to a decision. I'm going to get long, twin daggers. Basically small swords, but a shorter length than what an actual sword is.

"Gustav, I know you want to talk with YN more! Go with them!" I hear Snotlout urging, laughing a little.

"Alright, alright! Stop shoving me!" Gustav chuckles before running up to us three, striding up right beside me.

We start talking again as Hiccup pitched in sometimes, leading us to Gobber.

When we reach where the weapon smith is, we talk to him about what is like to have. Gobber nods and tells us it'll be done by tomorrow, so we head off once more.

Hiccup waves us off as he goes back to the Training Academy, smirking at us knowingly as he leaves.

Gustav and I just spend time together, Kairi and Fanghook following us whilst interacting with one another as well. We become great friends by the end of the day, and I feel slightly saddened when I have to return home.

I can't wait to see him again.

•-•-•-•-•
Timeskip- A Few Months Later (?)
•-•-•-•-•

Gustav had asked me to meet him near the shore of Berk, where I had first met and saved Kairi with my brother. I agreed and went to meet him at the break of dawn.

When I arrive, he's already there waiting for me, staring out at the ocean beyond. I pause my steps for a moment, just admiring him from a distance as the wind combs through his hair, pushing it out of his face effortlessly. A nervous expression etched onto his features, yet so serene and happy.

Gustav stands tall with a slightly slouched back, hands in his pockets as his eyes scan the gentle waves of the sea.

Snapping out of my little daze, I continue towards him with a small grin. He seemingly hears my footsteps as he looks my way out of the corner of his eyes. Smiling at me, he faces me fully, eyes locked on mine.

I stand directly in front of him and he takes one step closer, slipping his hands into mine as he starts speaking. His face is red, and I'm willing to bet that mine is also.

"YN, ever since I first met you, I knew there was something different about you compared to everyone else I've ever met. The way you spoke to me about Kairi and anything else you are passionate about always entrances me. I love your voice, your personality, and just everything about you in general.

"I guess what I'm trying to say is, I think I'm in love with you," Gustav confesses, confident yet anxious for my response.

All I do is smile bigger and reply, "I think I'm in love with you too, Gustav."

He grins and hugs me, us both slowly rocking from side to side in one another's arms. The wind picks up a little, but it's barely noticeable as it softly caresses our bodies. All I focus on is the way we fit together so perfectly, and even the way he smells captures my senses.

I hold myself back from squealing into his chest as if he were my pillow back home, instead biting my lip as I bury my face into his shoulder.

He's finally mine.

Sorry that the ending was a little rushed, but I wanted to get it done and out for you guys to read. Lol

Btw I asked this on my conversations board, and I'll ask it again here:

When signing off, would you rather me go by my username (CastrarWolf), name (Micah), or nickname (Mikey)?

Also, should I get rid of my "Everything Is Blue" book? (Details are on my conversations board.)

And finally! Should I make this one shot into an actual book?

Anyways! That'll be all!

Thanks guys!

Until next time, my wolf pack! :)
