One Shot: Where's Mommy? ( Kakashi's Son Male Reader ) Boruto Story
A/n: Just a little idea I had. Might become a story later on. For now, hope you enjoy.
(Kakashi POV):
I sat in my living with my faithful book. Icha Icha: Paradise. A slowly rising blush was forming on my cheeks. Luckily, I had the mask to hide any embarrassment I was feeling. Today had been a long day at work, but now I could spend the evening with-
Suddenly, the front door clicked open. I turned to see my son, (Y/n). Usually, I would be greeted with enthusiasm, or even a simple greeting. That wasn't the case today.
He walked in with his head down and mask up. His white fluffy hair seemed to have less spikiness, and he was hiding his face from me. I closed my book and called out to him.
"Hello, son. How was school today?" I asked kindly. He didn't respond. Instead, (Y/n) seemed to be standing still. No. He was trembling in one place. Concern and worry began to fill dominate my emotions, and I stood up.
"(Y/n)?" I called out to him. His fists were at his sides, and I saw (Y/n) shaking badly. I walked over and kneeled in front of him. A water droplet fell from his face and hit the ground. My eyes widened in surprise. He was crying.
"Did something-" I was cut off by (Y/n) looking up at me. Even though I was kneeling, he was still quite short.
(Y/n):"Dad!" He cried out to me. I quickly pulled him into an embrace. (Y/n) began bawling into my shoulder. It hurt me to see him like this, but I didn't know what was going on.
I picked him up and carried him to the sofa. There, I sat the two of us down, but (Y/n) still hung on. I patted and rubbed his back to comfort him. It took a few minutes, but the crying eventually stopped. (Y/n) pulled away and wiped his tears.
(Y/n):"I'm sorry, dad. I didn't mean-" I cut him off my shushing him quietly.
"It's fine. Why are you crying?" I asked with worry. (Y/n) sniffled sadly before looking at me in the eyes. Tears rimmed his own eyes.
(Y/n):"Where's mommy?" He asked innocently. I flinched at his question before gazing to the side. That was a tough topic.
"Why do you ask?" I countered with a question. (Y/n) rubbed his eyes again and looked down. I could tell he was very bothered about this.
(Y/n):"It's because everyone else at the academy has a mommy. Only I don't have one." He told me in a trembling voice. My eyes widened in major shock.
"When did this start bothering you?" I asked worriedly.
(Y/n) POV:
Flashback...
I threw another Shuriken and landed the bullseye. My fist pumped into the air with joy, but I received no compliment or anything. However, everyone else did.
Sarada:"Look, mom! I hit another one!" She exclaimed happily to the pink haired mother. Although it isn't biological, I knew that Sarada views Sakura as a mother. Sakura clapped her hands together gleefully for her daughter.
Sakura:"Good job, Sarada!" She acknowledged. It made me long for a mother to be proud of my actions. Just someone there to say something good about me. Just once.
I walked over to the table with more shuriken. There I saw the Hokage's son and prodigy, Boruto. He was antagonizing his mother, Hinata, and his sister, Himawari.
Hinata:"Boruto! Please be careful around your sister." She begged her son. Boruto laughed, but nodded. However, he suddenly threw shuriken over Hinata's head and hit the targets.
Boruto:"Yeah! Alright-"
Hinata:"Boruto!!!" She cut her son off angrily. Boruto flinched in fear. Even I was a little startled.
She began scolding Boruto about his reckless actions. Many kids would kill to not have to deal with those sort of situations, but I'd probably do the opposite. I wouldn't mind getting scolded by a mother. At least I would have one.
I decided to stop for the rest of the day. Today was where parent's see their child's ninja skills so far. Of course, the fathers would all be at work. Sometimes they do just pop in. However, the mothers were available. They showed up to each parent's day. I was always the one without anyone.
I sat on a swing by myself. Just taking in the laughs or yelps of fear with my classmates' interaction with their mothers. I won't lie that I'm happy for them. Yet, I can't help, but feel a little jealous. Maybe a lot.
I had the cool and badass father like everyone else. However, I lacked the strong and/or loving mother everyone else has. Parent's day sucked.
Flashback end...
(Kakashi POV):
(Y/n) finished his story, and I felt guilty. I didn't know he felt that way. Guess I assumed that (Y/n) would handle it like me when I didn't have a mother.
"So is this what made you upset?" I questioned. He shook his head.
(Y/n):"No. There's more..." He muttered sadly.
(Y/n) POV:
Flashback...
I held my book depressingly. Today was 'Mom's read for you' day. I didn't know why the Hokage wanted everyone to interact with their mother's so much. It was almost like he's targeting me.
My classmates were either sitting beside or snuggled up with their respective mothers. Each had a book brought from home, and their mothers would read it to them. Reading material ranged from novels to manga.
Inojin had a scrap book. It was created by Ino, his mom; Sai, his dad; and Inojin himself. The scrapbook was filled with various pressed flowers, paintings, and pictures of weapons. Ino and her son were just going through old memories together. Both with a smile plastered on their faces.
'I want a scrapbook...' I thought to myself. Then I looked over at Shikadai Nara.
His mother, Temari, was reading him letters from Gaara, the Raikage. Although he looked bored, I knew he was listening. His mom would occasionally pinch him, but they would rest against each other after making up. It was an odd kind of loving relationship, but still a close one.
'Maybe I can write a letter to mom. She might send one back, right?' I asked silently. Suddenly, loud boisterous laughter filled the air. I turned to see Chouchou.
She and her mother, Karui, were reading a cookbook. Clearly they had two major food enthusiasts. Not fat. Calling them that would be a death wish. They kept going on and on about which recipe is better, or which one to try next.
I stared at everyone glumly. It sucked really bad. Suddenly, I heard someone clear their throat. I turned see Shino standing beside me.
Shino:"You seem to not have a partner, (Y/n)." He pointed out the obvious. I nodded in response.
"Yeah..." I replied with a monotone voice. Shino looked at me for a bit before sighing.
Shino:"Would you like for me to read with you?" He offered. I wanted a mother figure to read it, but Shino was pretty cool.
"Okay, Shino-sensei." I agreed and plopped down on my butt. Shino sat across from me, and I handed him my book. When he took it and read the title, he sweat dropped.
Shino:"Uhh. Where did you get this?" He asked in discomfort. I noticed his face slowly turn red.
"My house. It was one of my dad's prized books." I answered. Shino flipped open the book to a random page. His face was now bright red before he shut the novel.
Shino:"Let's not read this today. Sorry, (Y/n)." He said with awkwardness and handed back the book. I looked down and nodded sadly.
"Yes, Shino-Sensei..." I replied without any enthusiasm. My eyes trailed around the room at the various families. At least they were having fun.
Flashback end...
(Kakashi POV):
I am a horrible parent. For leaving my erotica around. This caused me to blush in embarrassment. Also for not being able to see how this greatly affected (Y/n). I had assumed that he was okay in the past. Whenever (Y/n) was down, a few hours of training with him, and he was happy again. However, this wasn't the case.
"So today is when you finally snapped, right?" I asked calmy. (Y/n) sniffled and wiped away tears before nodding.
(Y/n):"I didn't mean to..." He trailed off. I looked at him assuringly.
"I'm your father, (Y/n). You can tell me anything." I coaxed him into telling me what happened. (Y/n) decided to speak.
(Y/n) POV:
Soccer is terrifying. Usually, playing this game for fun would actually be fun. However, when you add the mix of ninja techniques is allowed, it's deadly.
Sarada:"Fire style! Fireball jutsu!" She yelled and blew out a fireball the size of the soccer ball.
I rolled out of the way just in time. The ball of inferno sailed past my head and probably singed some hair of mine. Yet, this was no time to relax. I jumped back, as multiple kunai landed at where I was at. I looked up to see Chouchou in the air. Surprising, but deadly.
She looked like she was about to body slam me. My eyes widened in terror, and I began to run. More kunai landed near my feet, so I occasionally stumbled around. Normally, I would be really good with dodging, but if the plan involved me doing it the whole game, I'm exhausted.
Boruto:"Why are you running?!" He demanded angrily. I glanced at him to see him sneak around with the ball. Before I could answer, the blonde kicked he ball up into the air.
Sakura:"Go, Sarada!"
Ino:"Go, Inojin!"
Karui:"Go, Chouchou!"
Hinata:"Go, Boruto!"
The mothers all yelled words of encouragement. Instead of running to try and get the ball, I watched the ball bounce in front of me. Inojin motioned for me to kick, but he was across the field. I began to dribble the ball across the field, but had three targets to deal with.
Chouchou rushed towards me, but I distracted her by throwing a donut somewhere random. Sarada was next, she nearly stole the ball from me, but I used substitution jutsu on the ball. I still had the real one. Suddenly, I heard many loud voices
Sakura:"Take that ball back from that brat, Sarada!"
Inojin:"Inojin! You can win this! Pass it!"
Karui:"Don't let that insult from him make you lose! Teach him a lesson!"
Hinata:"You can do it, Boruto!"
The mothers were either cheering on their respective child or yelling insults at the opponent. One would assume that the fathers would show up for the sporting events, but that wasn't the case. It was getting very competitive. I could see the deathly glares of ambition from my opponents. Even my teammates. They wanted the glory of winning in front of their parents. However, I had a clear shot at the goal. My leg winded up to kick, but one more person had to shout.
Ten-ten:"Go, Metal Lee!" I turned, and my eyes widened. Metal Lee flew right at me with a kick. His foot hit my left eye, and I was sent flying out of the arena. My body crashed into a bench, and I collapsed onto the ground.
Everyone:"(Y/n)!" They all screamed my name, and I heard multiple pairs of footsteps rush over to me. My hand gently felt my left eye, and I immediately hissed in pain. There was going to be a bruise.
Metal Lee:"I'm so sorry! I thought you were going to block it!" He said guiltily. I looked at him with my good eye and shook my head.
"It's fine..." I muttered in pain. Everyone else soon arrived.
Sakura:"Are you alright? Where does it hurt?" She asked with concern. I looked away.
"It's fine..." I repeated, but my cool was slowly slipping away.
Hinata:"Are you sure? I could see your chakra not flowing there." She pointed out with worry and knelt beside me.
"It's fine..." I said growing more unstable by the second.
Sakura:"I can heal you, (Y/n). Just let me take a look." She offered. I stared sadly at the ground.
Here I am, getting doted on by mothers. Other people's mothers. I appreciated their offer to help and concern, but it was going to break me. Why couldn't I have a mom here to worry or feel concerned over me? It would be different if Boruto or Sarada got hurt. Their mothers would have been going crazy and helping their child. I'm stuck here with strangers.
Sakura:"Let's call your dad." She said. I stood up when she said that.
"No." I coldly stated. She reached out for me.
Sakura:"Are you sure, I think your dad can-" I cut her off by swatting her hand away. Everyone flinched in shock from my actions.
"I don't want dad here! I want my mom!" I cried in pain before dashing off.
Sakura:"(Y/n)!" She called out to me, but I kept running. Tears fell from my face, as I ran home.
Flashback end...
(Kakashi POV):
After (Y/n) told the story, he broke down crying. I sat there and hugged my son protectively. Anger filled my veins. Not at Rock Lee's son hurting mine because (Y/n) didn't care. But at this household lacking the mother figure. (Y/n) never had a mother, and to see others around him cherish it, must hurt a lot.
I noticed that he had cried himself to sleep. My finger brushed at his left eye. There was a bruise, and a visible scar setting in. Like me. I didn't want my son to go through what I did. Become an emotionless void when my parents were gone.
I picked him up and brought (Y/n) to his room. There I tucked him in, and kissed him on the forehead before leaving.
'I'm sorry, son.' I said silently and walked out of his room. My hand ruffled my hair in thought of how to solve this problem.
I decided to go get a drink and figure this out. Stepping outside, it had already turned nighttime. I walked to a ramen shop that my old team and I would usually visit. It looked packed, and I heard laughter coming from inside. Curious to what was going on, I stepped into the shop. The whole gang was here.
Naruto:"Oh! Kakashi-sensei!" He greeted with a smile. I sighed and walked over to their table.
"I told you to stop calling me that, Lord seventh." I replied. He chuckled happily.
Naruto:"And I told you to stop calling me that." He countered. I shrugged and looked at everyone else.
"Hello." I greeted.
Everyone:"Hi, Kakashi." They responded.
"Mind if I join?" I asked. They all shook their heads, and I sat in between my old students. Sakura and Naruto.
We all continued drinking and having a good time. Everyone laughed or turned red from embarrassing stories. Surprisingly, all parents managed to show up here. How convenient.
Sakura:"So Kakashi-sensei. Who's watching over (Y/n)?" She asked.
"Me. My shadow clone to be exact." I answered. Everyone nodded in agreement. They all did the same. Then I saw Sakura gain a sad look.
Sakura:"How is (Y/n)?" She asked worriedly. Naruto set his cup down and looked at me with concern.
Naruto:"Hinata told me what happened. Is he alright?" He also questioned. I sighed tiredly.
"Physically? Yes. Emotionally? I don't think so." I replied to both of their questions. Everyone gained a sad look.
Sakura:"Poor (Y/n). Is it about his mother? He mentioned about wanting her." She pointed out.
Shikamaru:"Wait. (Y/n) doesn't have a mother, correct?" He asked. I nodded.
"That's right. He doesn't have a mother, and that's why this problem started.
I explained to the younger group about (Y/n) situation. I told them the stories he told me. How they really stacked on him. His longing for someone to become a mother figure. The mom's here started to cry.
Hinata:"I didn't know..." She said shedding some tears. Naruto reached over to comfort his wife.
Kiba:"I told you all those 'Mom bonds with child' days are bad, Shino." He commented. Shino reeled back.
Shino:"This isn't my fault. The Hokage wanted to implement this." He defended. We all looked at Naruto to see his reaction. He was glaring at Shino.
Naruto:"How could you throw me under the bus like that?!" His old self peeked through his mature demeanor.
Sakura:"Anyways, how can we solve this problem?" She steered the conversation away from an argument. Naruto sighed tiredly before speaking.
Naruto:"Tomorrow, I will have an event where the students can do activities with their fathers..." He tailed off in the end. However, Sakura beamed happily.
Sakura:"That's great! Now Kakashi-sensei can spend more time with (Y/n)!" She said with hope, until Naruto finished his statement.
Naruto:"And mothers. Two separate events." He said with a wince. Sakura immediately looked down again. The air settled to a dead silence. It was tense moment for me. The roughs if being a parent. Suddenly, Sai spoke.
Sai:"Who is (Y/n)'s mother anyways?" He asked curiously. I sighed and looked up at the ceiling.
"It's a long story." I responded sadly.
Naruto:"Well, we have time."
Sakura:"And I would like to help little (Y/n)." The two pitched in. I closed my eyes and began to recount my memory.
Flashback...
I kneeled in front of my old friends. However, it wasn't actually them. It was their spirits. Obito and Rin were holding each other's hands happily. The two turned to look at me and have me a smile. This warmed my heart that they were finally together, but I couldn't smile. They were gone, but I was still here.
Rin:"Kakashi, don't cry." She said with her kind tone I missed. My hand touched my cheeks and sure enough, it was wet with tears. I looked down sadly, but felt a hand on my shoulder and looked up. It was Obito hrinning at me.
Obito:"Cheer up, Kakashi. We saw that your students finally got married." He said with enthusiasm. I nodded.
"Yeah. Naruto, Sakura, and even Sasuke all looked happy." I replied. Then Rin spoke.
Rin:"But are you happy?" She questioned. My eyes widened a little before returning to normal.
"My happiness doesn't matter. The village, my students, and my friends are the ones that count." I replied. Rin and Obito glanced at each other before sighing. Suddenly, Obito grabbed me by the collar somehow as a spirit.
Obito:"You need to stop brooding around and find something that makes you happy!" He said with the fire in his eyes, like I used to remember.
"Then how do you suppose I do that? I'm broken, and I still see your spirits." I countered. Obito looked like he was struggling to answer. Luckily, Rin had that covered.
Rin:"Even though we're dead. We will always be with you." She explained to me. I gazed at her sadly. She then continued to speak.
Rin:"That's why Obito and I have a way that you will always be with us no matter what." She announced. I grew confused, and Obito smirked.
"How?" I asked having no clue. Obito walked over to Rin and held her hand.
Rin:"Obito and I decided to release our chakra and reincarnate ourselves." She explained. My eyes widened, and I looked at Obito.
Obito:"With the last use of the Rinnegan, Rin and I will allow our chakra to become one and reincarnate into one person." He further clarified.
Rin:"However, you have to provide some of yours in order for this to work." She told me. I gazed at them still in disbelief.
"This will allow you to live on with me, but how? We're essentially creating a-"
Obito:"That's right, Kakashi. You're going to have a child with all our chakras as one." He told me. I saw the couple hold out their hands for me. I was still hesitant about the decision.
"But you'll two sacrifice your eternal afterlife together for my happiness?" I asked shakily. Rin smiled kindly.
Rin:"Obito and I will always be together. Now we'll just be with you in a different way." She assured me. I looked at Obito for his opinion. He laughed a bit.
Obito:"Besides, being alive doesn't sound too bad." He stated enthusiastically. My two best friends looked set on this decision. I sighed before placing my hand with theirs.
"I'll see you two in the real world." I told the two with tears. Rin nodded, while Obito grinned.
Obito:"Make sure to change my diapers, Kakashi!" He reminded playfully. We all laughed before a bright flash went off.
I reawakened inside of my house. There could have been no way that that was a dream. My energy was substantially drained, and I had not done anything too hard. I hopped out of bed and immediately headed for the memorial stone.
When I arrived, there was nothing here. I looked around for anything that was out of place. However, I could not find a thing. Then I went over to the stone to investigate it. Suddenly, I froze in place and looked down.
At my feet was a small bundle. Inside the bundle was a baby. He had fair skin and some white hair like me. Immediately, I knew that he was the reincarnation of my best friends. I picked the baby up, and held him in my arms. The baby opened its eyes and looked at me curiously.
"Hey there, little guy." I greeted quietly. The baby cooed before falling back asleep. I took my time to check his chakra signature. It was all unique, but I did feel a faint familiarity. I looked up at the sky and sighed.
'Thank you, Rin and Obito.' I thanked silently before walking home.
I entered my house and walked to my bed and sat down. The baby boy still slept soundly and looked cute. It brought a smile to my face. I was going to be a father now. The only problem was what was going to be his name? I thought of Rin or Obito, but that would be difficult. It had to be something different.
"I know what to call you. (Y/n) Hatake, my son." I told the baby with a gentle smile.
Flashback end...
Many people around me were crying. Even Naruto was crying a bit as well. It was a sad, but heart warming story. The story of how my bundle of joy came to be in this world. Sakura wiped her eyes and sniffled before speaking.
Sakura:"I don't understand all of the logic in it, but it's still so sweet." She croaked. I nodded in agreement. (Y/n) will never meet his mother because he doesn't really have one. The world was odd.
Hinata:"What do we do? Tomorrow may destroy him." She stated sadly. Naruto was about to make a suggestion, but my eyes widened in terror. Everyone noticed.
Naruto:"Is something wrong?" He asked with concern. I stood up and ran to the door, but stopped to look at everyone.
"My shadow clone caught (Y/n) sneaking out." I told the group. They all glanced at each other.
Sai:"Why don't you have your clone retrieve him?" He questioned. I looked at them grimly.
"He's headed for the Forest of Death." I added in. They all went wide eyed, and Naruto stood up.
Naruto:"Let's go get him." He announced, and everyone stood up before nodding in agreement.
We all dashed away at high speeds to the Forest of Death. I arrived at the forest first and looked around frantically for my son. My shadow clone I made spotted him, and I dashed over to the location. When I arrived, I saw (Y/n) walking up to the forest. He was looking up and down from something in his hand.
(Y/n):"This looks right..." He muttered to himself. I decided to make myself known.
"(Y/n). What are you doing here?" I asked. (Y/n) jumped before turning around to face me. He hid something behind his back and looked at me in fear.
(Y/n):"Oh! Hey, dad. I just got lost on the path of life." He answered nervously using my line. I sighed and walked over to my son.
"You can do that, but not at this hour and place. What are you even doing here, anyways?" I asked with worry and kneeled in front of him. His head tilted down sadly, and I saw him hold something out for me. I took it and looked at what he handed me. It was an old photograph of my team and I at the Forest of Death.
(Y/n):"I found this and thought that girl was my mom. I thought that she may be living here, so I can bring her to Parent's day tomorrow." He said hopefully. I remained silent and stared at the photo.
(Y/n):"Since you're here, could you help find mommy? I can be grounded. Just let me see her. Please?" He asked innocently. A single tear fell down onto the picture. I looked up to see (Y/n) stare at me with his innocent and pleading eyes.
"I'm sorry, (Y/n), but your mom is gone." I told him sorrowfully. His eyes morphed from hope into hurt.
(Y/n):"What do you mean, dad?" He asked with a shaky tone. I continued to gaze at my son painfully.
"Even though she's not in front of us, she will always be here with us. Right here." I told (Y/n) and poked his heart. (Y/n) began to tremble.
"(Y/n)?" I asked with worry. Suddenly, he snapped and looked at me with eyes full of tears.
(Y/n):"But I want someone to hug me! Someone to tell me good job or scold me. Someone that will cheer me on. Someone that will be there for me when I get hurt. Just-Just-..." He couldn't finish. Suddenly, I saw his scarred eye turn red. His pupil changed from black to Sharingan red. He had one tomoe.
(Y/n):"SOMEONE I CAN CALL MOM!!!" He screamed in despair before collapsing. (Y/n) began to sob uncontrollably and cry his eyes out. I instantly grabbed my son and hugged him tightly. His sounds of pain were muffled against my chest.
He continued to sob all night. All I could do is be here for him, but I wasn't. My mind was elsewhere, and I was thinking about Obito and Rin. How they could have handled this better than me. The Sharingan was surprising, but probably came from Obito's chakra reincarnation inside of my son. However, my main concern was (Y/n)'s health.
Now that he wants a mother more than ever, and probably will never have one. I don't know what to do. I want (Y/n) to have someone as a mother for him, but I couldn't just find someone to fall in love with. It's possible if I ask someone to become his godmother, but will he view her as a mother, or just another lady that smiles at him. The only way is to find someone to be there for him, always. That was still a problem. All of the women I knew that could fit the role had their own lives, and another child would interfere with that. I couldn't put that high of a responsibility on their shoulders.
(Y/n) had once again cried himself to sleep in my arms. This had to stop. I picked up my son and turned around. Everyone had been there and saw the whole thing go down. The mothers were all sniffling and some were still crying. I saw the males look at (Y/n) sadly. Especially Naruto. He grew up without either parent and understands the pain (Y/n) must be feeling.
Hinata:"I was too focused on my kids to notice that (Y/n) was feeling this way." She said, while trying to wipe away her still flowing tears.
Sakura:"Don't blame just yourself. We all did." She assured her friend. I looked down at my son in my arms. Even in his sleep, he looked disturbed.
Ino:"Hey. At least he has a Sharingan." She tried to lift up the mood.
Temari:"Yeah. You can celebrate and congratulate him on that." She added with hope. I shook my head.
"Knowing (Y/n). He'll probably look for a mother's praise as of currently. That's the main thing going through his mind." I told the two blondes. They nodded sadly in knowing it was most likely going to be that way. Suddenly, Naruto began to snicker.
Sakura:"What's so funny?" She asked Naruto in confusion. Naruto continued to snicker, but managed to calm himself down.
Naruto:"Sorry. I know I shouldn't be laughing in this situation, but I have a solution." He stated confidently. We all looked at him in shock.
Everyone:"Really?!" We all shouted in unison, but Hinata shushed them because (Y/n) was sleeping.
Naruto:"Yep. However, Kakashi-sensei. Do you love your son?" He asked seriously. I nodded.
"More than anything." I replied.
Naruto:"Would you sacrifice everything for his happiness?" He asked dead serious.
"Yes." I answered.
Naruto:"Alright then, but you must promise that you must do exactly as I say. This is to bring happiness to your son." He told me, and I nodded.
"I promise." I agreed. He then grinned deviously.
Timeskip brought to you by chibi (Y/n) looking for Rin, when she is in his heart always...
(Y/n) POV:
Today was another damn Parent's day. I might even march up to Boruto's dad's office and 'complain'. Today we were having 'fun' activities with our parents. It even had the Hokage himself here to join in on the activities. That meant that both moms and dads were showing up.
My classmates were with their parents, while I was alone. Not even my dad could show up. He told me this morning that he would make it up to me after work. I sighed sadly and tucked my knees to my chest. My body began to rock back and forth, as I watched everyone have fun amongst each other. The fathers taught some basic ninjutsu to their sons and daughters. My classmates sung random songs with their mothers for a contest. Then everyone had lunch together. I sat by myself and did not participate in any of the activities.
Instead, I found myself rested on the familiar lonely swing. Shino called for all of the mother's onto the stage with their child. It was going to be the last event of the day. The activity consists of a race around the village. Something my father and his rival used to do, but at a lower scale. This involved he mothers getting blindfolded, and they would give their child a piggyback ride.
Everyone lined up on the stage, and I glumly dragged myself over, too. I stood at the very end by myself. Many of the other people had already begun to give me odd looks. Then my classmates had to throw gas into the fire.
Sarada:"Where's your mom, (Y/n)?" She questioned curiously. I didn't respond and stared at the ground.
Boruto:"Yeah. She didn't show up yesterday or the other events too." He added before Hinata scolded him.
Hinata:"Boruto! Don't be rude. I'm sure your mother will show." She said kindly to me. I still remained silent.
'If only you knew. If only everyone else did.' I thought silently. Shino then walked to the front of the stage.
Shino:"Is this everyone?" He asked us.
Sakura:"We're still waiting on (Y/n)'s mother." She told Shino.
Shino:"Really? Uhh. When is she arriving?" He asked curiously. My heart began to throb.
Sakura:"Well. She is supposed to be here bow, but she's always late." She said as if she knew my mom. I grew confused. Did Sakura know my mom? Suddenly, I heard someone speak behind me.
???:"Sorry, I'm late. I got lost on the path of life." I heard a feminine voice speak. My head turned to see who the voice belonged to. My jaw dropped and my eyes widened in shock.
In front of me was a woman with long white hair, a scar running down her left eye, and a mask. She looked like a female version of my dad and me.
???:"Hello (Y/n). Sorry I was late." She said with a closed eyed smile. I snapped out of my shock and narrowed my eyes at her. She was too similar to my dad. I walked over to the lady.
"Dad. Is that you?" I whispered. The woman flinched a little before kneeling beside me.
???:"Whatever do you mean?" She asked nervously. I gained a deadpan look. It was dad.
"I know it's you dad. What the heck are you doing?!" I asked in disbelief. My father sighed before looking at me.
Kakashi:"I knew you were really broken up about not having a mom." He stated sadly. That was an understatement.
Kakashi:"So I thought, since today is a big event for parents, I would go as your mom!" He said enthusiastically. I stared at him in shock.
Kakashi:"I know I may not actually be your mom, but I didn't want my son to miss out on this event and be by himself. So what do you say?" He asked me with hope. I stared at him silently before nodding.
"Okay da- I mean mom." I said with messing my words up. My father gave me a smile before standing back up straight. I looked back at the crowd to see the men gain nosebleeds. Only Naruto and a few others were not, but they had grins on their faces. As if they knew something.
We shortly began the race, and I was currently in last place with my mom/dad. The two of us had quite a bit of trouble with navigating because we sometimes really did get lost on the path of life. Eventually, we began to catch up.
I watched us pass teams left and right. We were actually making good progress. That is until the last leg of the race. It was where we had to find stuff on a scavenger hunt. Either you find smoke bomb tags, or the actual object you're looking for.
My father and I had many smoke bombs detonate on us. We were slowly falling behind again. That is until he told me to do something.
Kakashi:"(Y/n). Activate that left eye of yours." He instructed me. I nodded and activated my eye. Suddenly, I could see things in another way. Ways that I didn't know. The object in front of me revealed to be an explosive tag. We backed away quickly.
After some time of using my new powers, my father and I finished out hunt and began running back to the finish line. Turns out, Boruto and Sarada both finished as well. It was a stack of three headed for the finish.
"Come on! We can beat them!" I said encouragingly. However, I knew that my father was older than the other parents, so he had a disadvantage. Then I had an idea. Time to use my ninja skills.
'Earth style! Mud wall!' I performed the jutsu. Suddenly, small speed bump sized earth walls began to appear randomly along my opponents path. It wasn't enough to stop them, but certainly slow them down.
Kakashi:"Great job, (Y/n)!" My father congratulated me. I blushed happily, and the two of us crossed he finish line first. For a long time of not having any, I finally had a smile on my face. My father and I cheered and celebrated a bit before resuming out more calm demeanor.
Everyone else congratulated us, and was excited to see who my 'mother' was. I could tell that my father was very uncomfortable with the whole idea. That made me realize something.
"Da-I mean mom." I called out to my father. He walked over and kneeled down beside me.
Kakashi:"What is it son?"
(Third Person POV):
(Y/n):"You know that you didn't have to do that, right?" He said to Kakashi. Kakashi grew confused.
Kakashi:"What do you mean? You didn't like it?" He asked worriedly. (Y/n) shook his head frantically.
(Y/n):"No! It isn't that. It's just that I know you were very uncomfortable like this." He told his father. Kakashi gained a surprised look.
Kakashi:"Was it that obvious?" He asked. (Y/n) nodded.
(Y/n):"Yeah, but I don't want this." The boy suddenly revealed. Kakashi looked shocked.
Kakashi:"But I thought you wanted a mother." He told his son. (Y/n) rubbed his arm nervously.
(Y/n):"I do, but not at a cost of your dignity, dad." He told his father. Kakashi went silent.
(Y/n):"I appreciate what you did for me today, dad. It had been the most fun I've had in a long time. I'm glad that I did it with my father. You went through so much to make me happy, and that's why..." He told Kakashi. The jonin looked at his son in surprise.
Kakashi:"Son..." He trailed off, and (Y/n) gave him a closed eyed smile.
(Y/n):"That's why I don't need a mom." He said confidently.
(Y/n):"I have you, dad. And that's all I'll ever need." He said genuinely. Kakashi teared up before transforming back into his regular self. He pulled his son into a loving embrace.
Kakashi:"I love you, son." He said with his heart.
(Y/n):"I love you too, dad." He replied, and the two hugged even tighter.
(Awww)
A/n: I hope you enjoyed this one shot. Not a romance, but something I thought was a little sad and heart warming.
Comment on what you thought.
