Cherish (💜MiNa🩶)
AN: A Christmas fic about Micheal Afton and Exquill3's OC Nathan Cartor. They made the drawing as well. Enjoy!
Nathan beat his knee against the couch, looking outside the window. He was nervous. His boyfriend Micheal was visiting him to celebrate Christmas. Since it was just him and his mom, he was glad his boyfriend was going out of his way to spend time with him.
He was also nervous still. He's been waiting for almost 10 minutes, but those 10 minutes felt like a whole Christmas Eve night trying to go to sleep.
"Don't worry, baby, he'll be here soon. I'm sure he was saying goodbye to his family," Nathan's mother tried to comfort him. She sat beside him on their couch.
"I know... but what if he got stuck in traffic or something?" Nathan stopped shaking his leg and moved it against his other leg, placing his hands in his lap.
"He's a teenager. You guys are still learning how to drive, so he's probably driving steadily..." Nathan's mother pat the top of his head, rubbing circles around his scalp.
The chocolate-haired pouted. He wanted to spend any amount of time he could with Micheal. They are boyfriends after all.
"I guess you're right..." Nathan leaned up and got off the couch to hug his Mum before he stood up straight to get something to drink. It wasn't cold enough to snow, however, that doesn't drown out the fact that it's still cold. Nathan wanted something hot to drink. He also thought it was a great idea to ease his nerves with relaxation.
Nathan reached inside the cabinet for his favorite mug. Unironically, the mug had a picture of the band Hot Chocolate. It was his favorite band to play during the Holidays.
His next step was to pour the milk inside the mug, then he broke pieces of chocolate each row at a time to allow the chocolate to settle. Finally, hearing footsteps in the living room, he placed the mug inside the microwave to melt the chocolate, followed by steaming the milk to warm it up.
There was a sudden knock at the door, however, Nathan didn't hear it because of the microwave screaming and spinning... and because he's deaf. His mum heard the knocking instead. She opened the door for the new comer to join their party.
It was Micheal. He stood in the doorway with presents in his hands and a small smirk presented on his lips. He was wearing his winter gear to protect himself from the swarming wind and aggressive, icy chill surrounding the atmosphere.
Nathan's mother smiled at her son's boyfriend. "Baby! Look who's here to see you!" She called for him. The microwave eventually quite wailing a storm in the kitchen, allowing Nathan to hear his Mum.
He popped his body around the corner of the kitchen to see what his Mom wanted. Before long, his mouth was gaped open before he even knew what he was doing. He saw Micheal staring at him with a smirk on his face, his cheeks were slightly rose colored. He was suddenly feeling shy.
"Mike!" Nathan was astonished, he barely heard anything inside the kitchen, but that didn't matter to him right now. He was happy to see his boyfriend stand at his front door unharmed.
"N-Nate. Hi—" before Micheal could get out another word, his taller boyfriend was already past his furniture obstacles and wrapping his slender arms around his neck.
"Whoa! Careful!" Micheal yelped when he felt his boyfriend lean on his arms as he was grasping the presents in his hands. The top presents were about to spill on the floor until Nathan's mother caught them just in time.
Micheal furrowed his eyebrows at his boyfriend for hugging him and making him drop a few presents, but he would be lying if he said he didn't enjoy the feeling he was focused on. Nathan's warmth against him. It was better than the chill up his spin from the wind blowing.
"I'm glad you're here! I missed you, I missed you!" Nathan pressed his lips against the brunette's cheek multiple times, kissing him. The brunette replied with an awkward chuckle.
"Okay, okay! Are you going to let me inside or not?" Micheal grabbed Nathan's waist, so he could pull him off him. He wanted to stay where the warm air was.
"Right!" Nathan pulled his boyfriend inside, his mom stepping aside to set the presents under the Christmas tree. "Nate, why don't you be a gentleman and help your boyfriend unload?" Nathan's mum smiled at him, raising one brow above her head.
"Yeah, Nate," Micheal joked while looking him in the eye. Nathan put his hands up in defense. "Don't worry, I would be honored," the chocolate-haired stepped outside to handle the bodies of presents or bags Micheal needed help with. Micheal was stronger between the two of them, but regardless, Nathan is a helper's man; no job is too big or too small.
"He forgot about his hot chocolate," Nathan's mum whispered quietly to herself. While the boys were unloading, she was debating on making the two love-bears something simple to eat. Setting his hot chocolate to the side, she dug through the fridge to find something for them.
Meanwhile, the boyfriends were carrying things from Micheal's Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme (which he is proud of paying for part of, his Dad done the rest).
"Is this all of the presents? Did you get a lot for me~?" Nathan smirked at his boyfriend, the only responds he was satiated with was Micheal's blush.
"U-Um... maybe. It's a surprise," Micheal bashfully averted his eyes. "What about you?"
Hmm... you'll have to wait until Christmas if we're playing that game," Nathan's smile never left his face, he was extremely happy. He also hoped his boyfriend was happy as well.
"Fair enough," Micheal simply said, not making it a big deal. Throughout the months and time the boys dated, the brunette noticed a slight change in his aggression. He is able to control his anger when it comes to Nathan. It's most likely a personal choice because he doesn't want to hurt his boyfriend out of stupidity.
The boyfriends wobbled inside with the remainder gifts and goodies, placing them under the Christmas tree with the rest. Nathan was prepared for more surprises from his Mum and his lover, so he doubted there was a low down on the gift amount.
"Oh, yeah, baby! Your hot chocolate is on the counter!" Nathan's mother called out. Hearing his mother this time, Nathan glanced at Micheal before scurrying off to the kitchen. "Ah! Coming!"
By the time Nathan lifted his mug, it was cold chocolate. The excitement of Micheal blinded him, so he put the Hot Chocolate mug full of cold chocolate inside the microwave to heat it up. He watched his mum suspiciously stir a liquid in her pot. The steam fluttered his direction, seeping through his nostrils, it was an amazing aroma.
"Mum, what are you making?" He asked. Nathan's mother tapped the wooden spoon on the rim of the pot and set it to the side onto a towel. "I'm making soup for supper. It's getting cold out, isn't it?" She chuckled.
"Yeah. Do you need some help?" Nathan distracted himself as the helping man, but his mother declined the offer. "I don't want your hot chocolate getting cold again and you have a boyfriend to spend time with!" She put her hand in her hip, smiling. She wasn't going to allow her son to do work while he had a special someone over to feel him with warmth.
Nathan dramatically gasped. "I guess I'll be forced to hang out with a blockhead," he joked, pulling his hotter hot chocolate mug out of the microwave for the second time. Micheal heard him since he has the hearing of a fox. "I heard that!"
Nathan giggles to himself, galloping out of the kitchen. His mum was pleased to hear the boyfriends talking about who knows what, teasing each other, getting on each other's nerves... it reminded her of her and her husband.
"What if we convince my mum to open presents after supper? I bet she'll love that?" Nathan raised his eyebrows up and down, he was sipping on his hot chocolate with pride. Both boys were sitting in front of the Christmas tree on the floor.
"Why? So you have a reason to be nosy?" Micheal smirked. "Well— maybe—" Nathan looked away to hide his face in the rim of his mug. "Buttt, I have a special gift that needs to be unwrapped tonight!"
"I thought you were the one to say 'wait until Christmas'."
Nathan drooped his head on his boyfriend's shoulder. "That was five minutes ago."
The brunette rolled eyes discreetly. "Your mum is always chill, she's nothing like my father."
"Oh yeah, what's he like? I don't think I've met your dad yet."
"He's a dildo," Micheal whispered at a level where only his boyfriends heard him. "Haha, really? You said he bought your car, didn't you?" Nathan took another sip of hot chocolate.
"Well... he did... but only because of—" Micheal forcefully cut short because of Nathan's mother saying dinner is ready.
The boys gazed at each other before bending up and walking into the kitchen to fix their meal.
All three bodies decided to eat in the living room to stare at the Christmas tree, socialize, and Nathan to do some convincing. "So... Mum..." he started. He curled his fingers around his bowl, so he could tilt the soup down his gullet. Micheal raised his eyebrow and stared at him with a smirk.
"Yes, baby?"
"Since Mike came all this way to bring us presents, we should open them tonight? Hm?" After asking, the chocolate-haired gulped down the rest of his soup like a baby bird. His boyfriend was amazed at how fast he deep-throated the liquid.
"You don't want to wait until Christmas to open them?"
"Well, I was thinking we could open each other's presents tonight and open your presents tomorrow," Nathan pointed to the window to demonstrate the winter nights are short and it was already dark outside. "It's a win-win for everyone!"
"Um, are you comfortable with that, Mike?" She figured Micheal would react positively, but she wanted to look after his feelings.
"I—" whatever Nathan wants to give him, he seems eager to do so. He did have a point about the gifts, it's not like they would be empty handed on Christmas. Maybe it will work out. "I wouldn't mind it."
The chocolate-haired lit up while looking at his boyfriend like a little kid and then back at his mum.
"Then I don't see why not, but we're opening my gifts on Christmas," Nathan's mum smiled. The Christmas spirit was free once Micheal joined the party.
"I call first!" Nathan downed the rest of his medium hot chocolate, then he rushed under the Christmas tree. The brunette rolled his eyes once again with a smile. You can tell Nathan was spoiled as a young child if he still has the child in his heart. Micheal didn't mind it, however. He found it charming.
"This is very round," the chocolate-haired thought the odd shape was suspicious, it captivated his attention. He handed his boyfriend one of his presents and there was one for his mum as well.
"Don't think too much about it and just opening it," Micheal chuckles, holding his gift in his hands. Nathan's mother followed along the laughing train.
"Going!" Nathan ripped open his present, he was surprised two eyes were looking back at his. This was something he was not expecting at all. It was a mask. The mask has a white base with a colorful face. The eyes were pitch black with blue tear streams falling down its rose colored cheeks, and red lipstick globed on its lips. It looked hand crafted by the looks of it to Nathan, he felt his eyes tearing up with the mask.
"Oh... wow..." Nathan's cheeks mirrored the rose colored look of the mask's cheeks and his eyes trailed down a couple of tears.
Micheal was scared by his reaction. "Do you not like it? I figured you would... s-since you like drawing on masks and such," the brunette's face was also rosy.
"Wha— of course I do! Sorry!" Nathan dried his tears up using the sleeve of his purple sweater. "I just— I love it... thank you. I'll cherish it forever!" Nathan hugged the mask to his chest, a gleeful smile on his lips.
"Of course," Micheal's blush grew to his boyfriend's cute expression. Nathan wrapped the mask around his head to try it on for a good fit. "Perfect! Now mine next, Mum!"
Caught staring, Nathan's mother snapped herself out of the touching moment and opened her gift next, then Micheal, then it continued until they opened all of Micheal and Nathan's gifts.
Nathan's mum was happy when Micheal bought her those new shoes she's talked about before, it's like Micheal remembered what she said (which wasn't surprising) and an ugly sweater from Nathan, who knitted it himself.
Micheal laughed when he unwrapped a Foxy plushie under the paper, he was always his favorite. He spotted a pack of watermelon gum behind Foxy's back, and the other gift had... an ugly sweater knitted by his boyfriend.
Luckily, Micheal gifted his boyfriend more yarn balls and in Nathan's last gift from the brunette, he got new earrings for his ears. They were glowing purple around the edges (he loved it).
After all the presents were opened, the three bodies of the house crashed. Their bellies were full and their hearts were filled. All that was left was to rest their heavy heads.
"It's getting late, how about we all go to bed?" Nathan's mom yawned, she was drifting off on the couch. The boys were as well.
Nathan nodded and set his mask to the side on the table. "Actually, I have another present for Mike anyway, so good night, Mum," she kissed her cheek, leaving a puzzled Afton behind. Oh yeah, Nathan did mention a special gift, didn't he? What could it be?
"Good night boys, sleep well," Nathan's mum tried to get up, but she crashed on the couch and fell asleep. That left the two boys.
"Follow me. I have a special present in my room~" Nathan smiled while grabbing his boyfriend's hand to lead him to his room. Micheal was confused on what it could be until one thought came to mind, making his face flush. "Wait— you don't mean—"
Nathan cut him off. "No not that, silly. Get your mind out of the gutter, it's something else," he giggled. They both made it to his room, so he turned the light on. There was nothing on his bed or anything around, so after Micheal got his thoughts straight again, he assumed Nathan hid it.
"Alright, close your eyes," Nathan commanded his boyfriend. "Um, okay?" He chuckles and closes his eyes.
Micheal heard shuffling around and fabric moving, leaving him befuddled as to what was happening. He was really curious as to what this present is. Suddenly, he stopped hearing noises and heard Nathan's voice instead. "Okay, you can open them."
The brunette opened his eyes to his boyfriend wearing a different shirt. It was a white shirt and the words made his cheeks at an all time red. The words spelled out 'I WANT THAT AFTUSSY', the last letter was in the color of the rainbow. What didn't help was Nathan's goofy expression. "Holy—"
"Surprise, Shawty! Merry Christmas!" Nathan wrapped his arms around Micheal's neck, he quickly pecked his boyfriend's lips to give him a tiny kiss. Micheal was in shock, it took time for him to process what was happening.
"Nate! Oh my god!" Micheal squeaked, embarrassed. He hated how cute the oversized t-shirt looked on his lover.
"I made you a matching one too! It's pajamas!" Laid out on Nathan's bed was an over-sized gray t-shirt with the words 'I HAVE THAT AFTUSSY'. If Micheal's face was t red enough, then this took the fruitcake.
"You're going to make me wear it to bed, aren't you?" Micheal looked at his boyfriend's knowing gaze, meaning he already knew the answer to his question.
With his eyes closed but he had to admit he was satisfied, Micheal laid on the bed with his new pajama shirt along side Nathan who was wrapping his arm around his smaller boyfriend. They both crashed on the bed.
Micheal woke up to a light shinning in his face. He must of fell asleep without remembering he started. Who cares about that anyway, it's Christmas!
The brunette titled his head up to look at his sleeping boyfriend, slightly nudging him. "Nate. Wake up."
"Mmm..." Nathan hummed, resounding to his boyfriend in a sleepy tone.
"Merry Christmas!" Micheal smirked. "Mmm... five more minutes. I want to cherish the moment," Nathan's grip around him tightened as he buried his nose in the hill of his collarbone. Micheal just rolled his eyes and accepted it.
"Okay, five more minutes."
