Breathe
I took a deep breath in and stepped out on stage, the only sound I hear is my shoes thumping against the hard surface. I walk slowly, like when you see those slow motion scenes in movies. I imagine the camera starting at my feet, slowly panning up my body to my face. I stop walking and turn, my mic soon in my hands as the lights are still off. All is silent, I don't hear a thing now, only feel my bassist's hand on my shoulder. He nods and heads back to his spot. I breathe and put my mouth to my mic, and in my breathiest, sexiest voice, I open the show. "Who's ready to have their world rocked?" I smirk into the last two words. The crowd goes crazy as our first song arises into the air, lights coming up and filling the stage, blinding me from seeing the crowd as much as I wish I could.
I sing with all my heart, leaning into my words with my body. I loose myself in the music, letting my body and mind do whatever they feel like. I sway my hips when we sing a slower song, one of my favorites, it's all about guitar and vocals. The guitar being the most heard besides drums and me. I get up into the range and hold my hand up.
I snap back into reality when my voice is the only thing I hear. I look over at my guitarist and then over to my bassist. They both look like it was completely planned. I keep singing, showing off my vocals like my band mates wanted me to. I hit the high note, my singing ringing through the auditorium as the song ends.
I sigh and walk off stage as the lights fade, they fade low and for the last time. Tears stream down my face. Everyone agrees that it was time for us to split, to break after this tour, but I couldn't bring myself to agree. I reach backstage and look up to see my beautiful fiancé. I run into their arms, crying into their shoulder. "I'm so sorry baby. I know this is hard for you." They run my back, trying to soothe me. They trace shapes into the small of my back. I sigh into their touch as I step back and I feel their hands wipe my tears. The smile they give me is reassuring, telling me everything will be okay. "I love you Y/N." I tell them. They smile back, repeating the phrase.
"I love you too Gerard."
