....
"Well..." I say, tears slowing streaming down my face. "I've watched people walk in and out...freshmen and seniors...transfers...myself." I looked around, talking to what felt like everyone.
"This was my home. My safe place where I could be my true self." Everything stopped in time as I turned around to hear the doors close. I knew I was now alone. "You did so much for me, taught me so much, and now I have no way to thank you."
"Everything that you've done has turned me into the person I am." Tears came a little faster now as my hand ran across the walls, praising the room.
"Thank you...so much." Tears came fully as I wiped them away as much as I could. I crashed down the wall as I got flashbacks.
("Anna!" my head snapped up to my directors voice. "Did you bring your flute?" I nodded. "Bring it out.")
("Here's your new A5." I stood between a girl and a boy. The boy looks to me and holds his hand out. "I'm Zach. Junior. Who are you?" "Anna...eighth grader.")
("Are you okay?" "I can't do this...I'm only an eighth grader!" I look up to see my future ex but i didn't know that yet. "Bring it in woman." He engulfed me in his arms as I cried into his shoulder.)
("You'll be okay, I'll come back." Seth said as I hugged him for the last time.)
("Hey everything is going to be fine, he'll be here" I looked frantically for my brother and Doug pulled me aside for a hug.)
("ADOPTED SAXOPHONE CHILD!!" My whole body whipped around to see Zach, from my eighth grade year/freshmen year. "ZACHHH!!" I ran up to him and he wrapped me up in a hug. "God I can't believe you came." "I wouldn't miss watching my Anna perform for anything.")
("I'm so awkward, I don't have any friends." I awkwardly messed with my saxophone. "You're not awkward, and you've got me." Aiden smiled at me, making me smile back)
("YALL ARE COMMITTING TODAY!!" I ran over with a pen I borrowed to write down everyone's names for my disney group. Just as I was about to write Aiden snatched the pen from me and held it out of my reach. "Give it!" I jumped, trying to grab it. "Whose pen is this?" He asked. "Taylor's....")
("F**k you!" Beau held up his middle finger, smiling. "I hate you!" I yelled back. "I hate you more, screw you!" "You would!!" "Yeah, whatever." We both busted out laughing.)
Back in reality, I hear the door open. "Anna...I know this is hard. But graduation is about to start." My director walks up to me and pulls me up, placing my graduation cap on my head and giving me a look of sympathy. "He's here..." I smiled and gave my director a hug.
"Thank you for everything you've done."
"No, thank you for giving this room a purpose." He smiles and pats me on the back as I follow him out, walking out the band room doors for the last time.
